Charlotte was so furious that her facial features seemed to twist in rage.
Thalassa, looking at the livid Charlotte, remained calm. âWhatâs the matter? Jealous?â
âDonât think youâre the only one who can have quadruplets! If I had the opportunity, I could do it too!â
Charlotteâs chest heaved heavily with each angry breath.
âYou seem to be confused.â Thalassa retorted. âIf you want to have quadruplets, I am not the one you should be seeking.â With that, she turned on her heel and walked away.
Indignant, Charlotte flung open the door of her car and stepped out. Two burly men followed suit, immediately grabbing Thalassa by the arms and dragging her towards the vehicle.
Thalassa exclaimed, âWhat are you doing? Let go of me!â
She struggled, but she could do nothing when faced with the strength of the beefy men.
Before she knew it, Thalassa was shoved into the car. The door slammed shut, and Charlotte sped away.
With one burly man on either side of her in the car, escape seemed impossible.
Thalassa tried to remain composed as she narrowed her eyes at Charlotte. âCharlotte, this is kidnapping; itâs illegal. You could end up in jail. Itâs not too late if you let me go.â
Charlotte glanced at Thalassa through the rear-view mirror and huffed. âA person capable of threatening me hasnât been born yet. Donât worry, Iâm not that stupid to kidnap you.â
âWhat are you up to?â
Charlotte didnât answer.
Thalassa was taken to a motel and roughly pushed into a room. She nearly stumbled but managed to steady herself.
However, the two burly men who had grabbed her earlier were now advancing towards her, with Charlotte trailing behind them.
Feeling threatened, Thalassa backed away. Her eyes darted past the burly men to glare at Charlotte.
âCharlotte, tell them to leave, or youâll regret it!â
âThe only thing I regret is letting you get to Lysander before me five years ago. Youâre so good at having quadruplets, right? Then do it again!â With that, Charlotte gave the men a nod and hurriedly exited the room.
Seeing her opportunity, Thalassa lunged forward, hoping to dash out of the room before they could react.
But she was intercepted by one of the burly men and flung onto the bed.
Thalassaâs head spun from the impact, and her vision blurred. As she tried to sit up, the man who had thrown her strode towards her, grabbing her by the collar of her shirt.
âNo!â Thalassa clung to her clothing. She was holding on for dear life.
But her strength was nothing when compared to that of the burly manâs.
Just when her clothing seemed about to tear, Thalassa felt a wave of helplessness wash over her.
âStop! Let her go!â A young man burst into the open doorway of the room.
He rushed forward, punching the man who was tearing at Thalassaâs clothes and shielding her with his body.
In her panic, Thalassa recognized the man as Leopold. Her grip on her shirt tightened, her hands began trembling, and her eyes welled up with tears.
The burly man, who had been punched, turned his face while cradling his jaw. He glared at Leopold with a menacing look and raised his fist to strike back.
1 2 1 9 F S âStop! No more!â Charlotte dashed into the room and called off the burly men.
âAll of you, get out!â She ordered.
The burly men glanced at Charlotte. They were clearly unwilling to comply and were confused by her command.
Charlotte, seeing their hesitation, barked. âDidnât you hear me? Do you not want your money anymore?â
Hearing that, the burly men grudgingly exited the room.
After seeing the danger recede, Leopold turned his worried gaze towards Thalassa. âThalassa, are you okay? Were you frightened?â
