As soon as she glanced at her phone screen, the chat window with Lysander was open, and the video she had filmed was already sent.
Thalassa wanted to retract it, but the time for retraction had passed. It was irretrievable.
She clicked on the video.
It was a clip of Leopold holding her as she said, âLeopold, people in love arenât necessarily meant to be togetherâ¦â
Thalassaâs head buzzed, her vision blurred, and her mind went blank.
Her hand fell limply to her side as her gaze fixed listlessly ahead.
Seeing this, Charlotte maneuvered around Leopold, rushed forward, and snatched her phone from Thalassaâs grasp.
She let out a soft laugh. âWhether you delete it now or not, thereâs no difference.â
The reason she had been tussling with them for the phone was to buy time.
Once the video was sent, after another two minutes, it couldnât be retrieved.
It was irretrievable, and Lysander would inevitably see the message she sent him.
With that, Charlotte turned around and walked away with a triumphant smirk on her face.
âThalassa, itâs okay. Weâll stand up to Lysander together. As long as our hearts are together, thereâs nothing that can stop us.â Leopold approached Thalassa as his gaze shifted from melancholic to resolute.
He believed Thalassa had fallen out of love with him until she said that people in love werenât necessarily meant to be together.
Stunned and exhilarated, his heart began pounding in his chest.
He realized she still loved him. It was just Lysanderâs power that prevented them from being together.
As long as she loved him, he could overcome any obstacle.
Thalassa, looking lost, looked up to meet Leopoldâs bright, hopeful eyes.
Her own eyes, however, were dim. Shaking her head, she said, âYouâve misunderstood. I meant you donât need to continue loving me. Accept the situation, move on, and find someone more suitable.
Weâre not right for each other.â
With that, Thalassa walked away.
Leopold stood still. The light in his eyes didnât dim as his fists clenched slightly.
At Royal Estates, Lysander was helping the kids build a Lego tower.
His phone, resting on the sofa, buzzed. It was a message alert from Charlotte.
He wasnât planning on acknowledging it, but he noticed it was a video.
Temporarily setting aside the Lego, he picked up his phone and tapped on the message.
The contents of the video darkened his handsome face instantly.
Thalassaâs resigned voice rang out. âLeopold, people in love arenât necessarily meant to be togetherâ¦
His eyes flickered, and the temperature around him plummeted. His knuckles turned white as he held the phone..
Thalassa arrived at Royal Estates as quickly as she could, only to be stopped by the security guard.
âMs. Everhart, you canât come in.â
âGo tell Lysander I have something to say to him.â Thalassa implored them with urgency in her voice.
âSorry, Lysanderâs orders. Ms. Everhart, you canât come in, and weâre not to relay any messages. The security guard replied with an expressionless face. Thalassaâs breathing was heavy. She knew Lysander would be angry after seeing the video. He would certainly forbid her from seeing the kids.
She took out her phone and dialed Lysanderâs number. The call went through, but no one picked up.
