Hertha couldnât believe what was happening.
Holy smoke!
That man literally dared to take advantage of her. Was he trying to cut his own family line?
She moved back quickly, preparing to send him flying with a swift kick.
Just as she was about to strike, to her surprise, the greasy hand was seized by a slender one.
âZane, youâre drunk and there are cameras everywhere. Anything you do will be clear as day when the cops show up. Do you really want to land yourself in jail?â The cool, casual, and devilishly charming voice rang out.
Hértha turned to see a man in crisp white shirt and black trousers. He was lean, handsome, and carrying a captivating allure. His eyes, sharp and appealing as a foxâs, were an enchanting sight.
It was Alaric Falconer!
His seemingly casual words carried an oppressive weight.
Seeing a newcomer intercept Zaneâs wandering hand, Thalassa, who had been about to step in, stopped in her tracks.
Just as Zane was about to rage, his gaze fell onto Alaric, the heir of the Falconer group. His belligerent demeanor changed all of a sudden.
He nodded obsequiously and kept responding, âYes, yes, youâre right. Iâm drunk so I donât know what Iâm doing. I almost made a big mistake, Ms. Kensington. I apologize. Did I hurt you?â
Zane even offered Hertha a humble apology as he spoke.
âItâs fine, Zane. You should keep your word. You said if I got you drunk, youâd sign the contract.â
Herthaâs face fell cold.
Zane had just admitted to being drunk. There was no escaping his promise now.
Moreover, with Alaric, the Falconer groupâs heir, around, he felt an unspoken pressure.
Zane laughed, âIâll sign the contract right away.â
Alaric let go of his hand.
Then Zane took the contract and signed his name on the last page.
âWe should have dinner together sometime.â Zane offered Alaric with a flattering smile as he adulated.
Alaric casually wiped his hand with a wet wipe, threw it into the trash bin, and replied, âZane, you better go home and count your blessings.â
With that, he walked past Zane to Hertha, took her hand, and addressed Herthaâs boss, âI have some private matters to discuss with her. Is it alright if I take her now?â
Herthaâs boss nodded quickly. He was so awestruck by his status the moment Alaric appeared that he even didnât dare to speak.
Now Alaric was taking Hertha away; how could he refuse his demand?
Alaricâs gaze turned cold as he led Hertha away.
Seeing this, Thalassa finally breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to Ethan,â Iâm full, Mr. Ethan. I need to get home to take care of my mom. Iâll take my leave.â
âAlright,â Mr. Ethan approved.
Not long after Thalassa left, Jason spoke up, âIâm sorry, Mr. Ethan, my mom just called and asked me to come home right away. Something came up at home.â
Jason also left after getting permission.
As Thalassa was waiting for a taxi, a black Volkswagen pulled up next to her. The window rolled down to reveal Jasonâs youthful face, âThalassa, let me give you a lift home.â
