Chapter 11

"Thought you bailed on me last second Laura." He greeted us, opening the door. Upbeat music was heard and a faint smell of alcohol hit us.

"I need a good grade on this." Reminding him why I was here at the first place.

"Excuse me, nerds I'm trying to party over here!" Maya piped in, glancing eagerly at what's behind the door.

Asher noticed Maya and whistled, "Wow Maya, never knew you were this hot, wish you were my partner instead of this geeky nerd."

Maya blushed, and gave me the omg he notice me and compliment me and I'm dying right now look. I gave her back a I told you so look.

"Geeky and nerd means almost the same so why did you said it twice?" I said raising an eyebrow.

"Yea, whatever thesaurus." And he stepped aside, letting us in, the loud music, the smell of alcohol and sweat, doubled as we went inside.

People were too busy dancing and grinding against each other to notice us but a few people who were sober, widen their eyes as they saw me in a party.

I walked a little closer towards Maya, who was already drifting away.

I started to panic, not knowing what to do in a high school party.

I gripped Maya's arm tightly, she saw the panic look in my eyes and she immediately came back to my side.

I sighed in relieved, but I still had an iron grip on her.

"Do you guys want a drink?" Asher asked politely.

"Yes thank you." Maya answered for us.

He left and went to the kitchen, finally leaving Maya and I alone.

"Lau go socialize! Maybe dance or play some games with the people over there?" She pointed at a bunch of people playing beer pong, some playing spin the bottle and some playing truth or dare.

"No I'm good, I will just, uh film this party for a while and then leave." I said, my eyes darting around.

"I am not leaving until we dance till our feet hurt and drunk as hell." She said stubbornly.

"But, I can't dance and I never drink before!"

"There's always a first for everything."

"But-"

"And here's your drinks." Asher interrupted us, kind of saving me.

"Thanks Ash, do you want to dance." Maya asked, not so subtly flirting.

"Sure." Asher replied, glancing in my direction.

I shooed them away, "I need to film this anyways, the both of you go and have fun!"

I took a sip of my drink, and I realized it's coke, with a hint of alcohol.

I smiled.

I got my camera out and filmed people dancing on the makeshift dance floor, in different angles, especially zooming in onto Maya and Asher. Maya was enjoy their dance a lot, but for some reason, I could tell that Asher didn't enjoy it as much as Maya. I frowned.

Then I moved on to the people playing games, I filmed a round of spin the bottle, where two girls maked out, which I'm sure they both had boyfriends. But they were too drunk to notice, I moved on to truth or dare and it was quite boring. I moved to beer pong, when I arrived, the game just ended and a person passed out. Disappointed, I started to leave, decided to film the whole scenery, when a guy grabbed my arm, "Hey be my partner, just for this round, please. I need to beat Jake."

I tried to match the face to a name. Tom a football player.

"I never played before." I said, trying to tug my arm free.

"I don't care I just need a person to drink the beer." He exclaimed and dragged me to his side and people cheered.

Some were sober and noticed it's me and the whispering and staring started.

I started to feel nauseous and took a sip of my drink nervously. Tom kept on missing and I could tell he was frustrated. Not able to stan his pathetic throws any longer, I grabbed the ball from him, calculated the distance and threw the ball. It went right into the cup. Tom stared at me in amazement and he was so happy he hugged me. I awkwardly pat his back.

I continued and soon we won without missing a single shot. I was so concentrated on the game and to win, that I hadn't even realized that a lot of people had come to watch the game. People even filmed it, Tom was happy with all the attention and I tried to slip away, but a bunch of people started to ask me questions, and wanting me to play beer pong with them next and teach them.

Then my knight in shining amour arrived, saving me. Maya started to push through the crowd, grabbed my hand and dragged me away from all the slightly drunk people complaining about not getting me as their partner.

"Thank you Maya, I love you so much." I squeezed her tightly.

"Girl, you slay in beer pong! I wished I'm your partner and I brought you to a party earlier!" She exclaimed, pride and happiness gleamed through her eyes, "You did enjoy yourself right?" she asked, her tone turned serious.

"Yes." I gushed, I couldn't believe I just played my first beer pong and I actually ace at it! This isn't as bad as I thought.

"Where is Asher?" I asked her, taking a sip of my drink.

"I don't know, talking with other people? Playing spin the bottle?" She answered, as she took a sip from her cup. Suddenly, she bumped into me and giggled.

"How much did you drink?" I asked her, steadying her.

"Just a few cups." She said groggily.

"We should go back." I said worriedly.

"But you haven't dance yetttttttt." She whined.

"Come on Maya, you are drunk." I pulled her towards the door, that's on the other side of the room.

"No!" She stomped her feet childishly, "you need to dance with me!"

"Come on Maya you know I don't dance!" I tried to reason with her, which was pretty useless.

"I don't care!" She began to pout, crossing her arms in front of her chest, like a little child.

I couldn't believe she act this childish when she is drunk.

I signed, knowing Maya who was just as stubborn as me. "Just one dance ok?"

She beamed at me and dragged me to the dance floor.

She began to dance like a pro while I sway awkwardly, taking sips from my cup nervously.

"Wow, Laura nice moves." I deep voice said right into my ears. I spun around so fast that I spilled my drink.

"Chill it's just me, Asher." He laughed.

I scowled at him.

"Where's your camera?" He asked.

"Oh shuck!" I said, I started to panic, did I lose it? Someone stole it? When was the last time I had it?

"Hey, we will find it." He said, his hand resting on my tensed shoulder.

I took a deep breathe, when was the last time I used it? Dance floor... games.... BEER PONG!

I started to pushed though the crowd of teens that were dancing by Maya grabbed my arm, "Lauraaaaaaaaaa you promise to dance with meeeeeeeee."

"Maya, I need to get my camera back." I said, as patiently as I could.

"But you promusssssss." She started to slur her words, then I noticed a cup in her hands.

I snatched it away, "when did you get that?"

"I don't know, this random guy? Girl?" She frowned, then started to dance again without a care for the world.

"I can look after her while you go find your camera." Asher offered.

"Thank you so much." I said gratefully, then I pushed through the crowd and finally arrived to the beer pong place.

And there on the edge of the table, was my camera, I signed in relief. I quickly got it and tried to look for Maya, wanting to drive her back home as soon as possible.

"Hey, Laura right?" An unfamiliar voice said to me.
