Chapter 16

"I am so sorry Laura, but Tom already asked me." Maya apologised. It had been only a week since they started dating. Normally Maya would almost hang out with me everyday, but now she seemed to be spending more time with Tom than me. And I might be a little jealous.

"But we always watch Marvel movies together!" I cried, "I even bought the tickets, since they sell out very fast."

"Oh Laura I am really sorry, maybe you can ask Asher." Maya suggested, wiggling her eyebrows.

I gave her a incredulous look, "Asher? Why on earth will I ask him?"

"Aren't you guys friends." She gave me a suggesting smile. I groaned, I regretted telling Maya about the 21 questions, but I didn't tell her the reason why Asher transferred.

"Urgh but."

Maya cut me off, " Come on, you really should go and social with other people, make new friends!"

"Didn't you just said he is my friend." I grumbled.

"Yes, now don't be a smartass with me! Just asked him."

"Fine whatever, maybe I will just watch with my parents or something." I said sullenly.

"I still think you said ask Asher." She muttered under her breath. I pretended I did not hear it.

It's Friday, the day of the presentation, and also the day the Marvel movie comes out and the movie tickets that I bought.

The presentation was flawless, everyone loved the video and Mr Sean loved the PowerPoint. Asher was not so surprisingly a good presenter. He was always outgoing and had a lot of friends so it was not surprise that he was a natural at presenting. I myself was not that bad since I rehearsed a lot of times.

"Awesome teamwork!" Asher brought his hand up for a high five. I gave him one and said jokingly, "Yes, I am so glad that I no longer need to work with you."

"Aww come on you enjoy working with me." He nudged me.

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.

We walked back to our seats and watched our classmates present.

"We should definitely celebrate!" Asher said suddenly.

The movie tickets, should I ask him?

"Hey you had been quiet for a really long time, did you even hear what I said?" He waved a hand in front of my face.

It's now or never.

"Yes I can hear you. Maybe we can watch the new Marvel movie tonight?" I asked casually, but inside my heart was pounding so hard and loud and my hand started to sweat.

"Is this a date? Is the Laura Clark asking me out." He smirked at me.

"No, fine I guess I will just ask my parents to watch with me since Maya is watching with Tom. That's the only reason why I asked you. And you told me we are friends!" I explained quickly.

"Fine, I guess I will go out with you, on a date." He emphasised the last word.

"Fine I will just go with my parents." And I looked away and gave my attention to the students that were presenting.

"I mean I will hang out with you tonight." He changed.

I continued to ignore him.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"Hey." He continuously poked me.

"Tonight 5:50 meet at the cinema, the movie starts at 6" I said without looking at him.

"Okay." And he didn't say anything else, but the stupid grin on his face did not disappear for the whole lesson.

"Oh my god. Yes. Laura, you are finally going on a date!" Maya screamed in my ears, I put some distance between the phone and my poor ear.

"It's not a date! We are just hanging out, besides you were the one that suggested me to ask him!" I exclaimed.

"I never thought you would do it." She laughed.

I scowled," Thanks for the vote of confidence."

She laughed again, "Yeah no problem, just doing what a best friend is suppose to."

I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help but smile, "Whatever, oh shoot it's 5:20, my dad promised to drive me at 5:30. Talk to you later!"

"Tell me all the details." She said before I hung up on her.

I quickly put on a white tee with a leather jacket since it's not that hot anymore, and black skinny jeans with white vans. I got my phone, wallet, ticket and put it in a black purse and quickly went downstairs. My dad looked at me and nod approvingly, "Great outfit, good enough for a date."

"It's not a date dad! We are just hanging out!" I protested.

"Whatever you say honey!" My dad teased, grabbing the keys.

"I did asked you and mom do you guys want to watch with me, you guys just want to watch alone." I scowled at him.

"Well you wouldn't want to third-wheel do you?" My dad wiggled his eyebrows. I pretended to gag.

"You guys are like in your late forty for God's sake!"

"Jeff, stop teasing our daughter." My mom scolded my dad lightly, rescuing me.

"Yes ma'am." My dad gave my mom a salute.

My mom rolled her eyes, but had a small smile on her face, "Have fun honey, but remember be safe."

"Thanks mom." I gave her a smile and we go out and into my dad's car. I couldn't help but smile to myself. I love my parents, sure they may be annoying but who's parents aren't? I'm so lucky to have them.

"Ok be home by 10 ok? And if he do try anything just call us and I will help you take care of him." My dad said seriously.

"Ok dad, no need to go all mom on me." I said and got out, "I love you too."

"I didn't even say I love you!" My dad shouted out of the window.

"Bye." And I walked towards Asher who was already waiting for me at the entrance.

"Hey." He greeted me.

"Hey, lets go in and buy some popcorn." I said.

"Wait let me buy the tickets first." He said.

"No I bought the tickets already." I said as I brought the tickets out.

"Oh wait, let me pay you back." He started to get his wallet out.

"No, you already pay for the last two times, I should pay." I gave him back his money.

"No but-" he protested but I cut him off, "let's go in, I don't want to miss the trailers."

"But I'm paying for the food!" He said stubbornly.

"Sure." I sighed, knowing I wouldn't win this.

We got a big popcorn to share and two drinks, I was almost in tears near the end of the movie because of what happened to all the characters. And when Peter Parker said the line my heart broke. Everyone in the cinema stayed till the very end even after the credits since it's a Marvel movie. Everyone was crying when they were leaving the cinema, I almost did but managed to stop myself.

I couldn't believe what I just saw, when Asher asked me if I want to eat dinner, I just nodded. I couldn't speak.

The car ride was silent, I couldn't stop thinking about the last scenes. He stopped after what seemed like seconds and we arrive at a restaurant.

I was numb, I didn't even know what I ordered.

They must not be dead the people that turned into dust but what about Loki? And poor Iron Man omg and-

"Are you ok?" Asher asked worriedly.

"Huh?" I said after a moment, I couldn't think straight.

"You were quiet the whole time, is the movie that bad?"

I looked at him dead in the eye, "Bad? What do you mean bad? How can you say a Marvel movie is bad?"

"I mean you were so quiet and," he trailed off.

"How are you not crying?" I said incredulously.

He gave me a confused look, "You are not crying either."

"Yes but aren't you sad?"

"Not really, I didn't watch the first few movies."

I gasped in disbelief, "How can you not have watch the Avengers? Do you live under a rock?"

"No, but I rarely watch movies."

"Not with your friends? Family?" I said in shock.

"No."

"So you do not understand what just happened?"

"Not really?"

"You know what, you are going to watch all the Marvel movies." I said with determination.
