The Morrocan Girl

The Elahim Brothers1,275 words~7 min read

The otherwise quiet but inaccessible Al-Souffian is caught smoking again.

I roll my eyes behind the door and when I return to his visage he is staring into soul, from the vacuum of this air, this thick nauseous air, his stare is intensifying the knots in my lungs.

"what? " I asked almost to be pitied.

"Nothing,what brings you here?"

"I am running around for Fateh, it's past ten, he hasn't even brushed"

He laughs, his demonic laughter.

"I have to go back all by myself Al-Souffian so please do not sharpen up the aura for me" I requested.

"oh I would escort you to your room Falaq-Naaz "

"No thank you" I immediately rejected the idea and turned. "And you shouldn't smoke Al-Souffian it is bad for your health and I can complain to Al-Wais "

"You shan't worry about me Falaq-Naaz and do not dare threaten me with your back. I do as I please" he said in vengeance.

"I apologize " I said returning my face in the front.

"Forgiven " he hissed and engulfed in the fogs of his smoke. Respiration each in the light bitter mess.

I sat lonely. I write a few lines and went over and over. I opened up the computer. No new mail.  Is Fatima okay?

I wrote another set of lines.

Dark brown souls of young knights

Come to land of barren sights.

Evoke a restless muddy fight

They seek for tragedy that leads to light,

Dark brown souls of young knights.

I sighed.

Fateh has changed. Is it for better?

He seems more like them than like us.  So I worry for him.

I wait for the night. I do not even myself why?  But I wait for these certain nights. There is peace beside him. There is some tasteful aura beside The King.

I handed him his tea. He smiled.

I had to admit I felt the dire  need to be in the balcony tonight. I hadn't been here for an entire week.

"Splendid night,isn't it Falaq-Naaz ?" he said.

"It is... Absolutely " I said not looking at the sky.

"what shall we talk over? " he said in the airily manner.

"talk about something that you haven't yet talked about" I said fixing my gaze to the powder blue tea cup and English saucer in my hand.

"You demand for a secret to be whispered?" he asked.

"Yes... It's only fair that as you have taken one of mine that you grant me one of yours"

"You're making deal here" he laughed.

"tell me about your Love " I said feeling brave enough.

"I do not know if I have ever been I love Miss Falaq-Naaz.  I've been trying to figure it out when the reality pushed me out. It is not my field. I will go bout to say I have no clue what is love? "

"Not even been around it? " I was curious.

"it was in my mid-teen.  Young and reckless. Excited to see the world.

There is one incident. There has been no section I could put this one in but sure was my First hand experience with a woman. I was in California for a vacation trip. I wasn't sure if I had much to relate there. You see I am a old soul, there was youth even in the breeze of the beach town.  I was at a Gas Station filling up my tank. There was the smell of petrol and sight of periwinkles. A small Gas Station with not many people around. There, a chervelot 1998 comes and parks in. A Ruddy, dirty and old pile.

In it was a this Girl. I remember the first time when a women has held my sight for a such significant amount. I kept looking at her. She was caramel brown, she had beautiful gorgeous eyes. Thick lips. Her hair, curly frizzy, unsettled. In her pink strip tee she looked wild and crazy.

I remember thinking to myself, I want her. She was twenty and three and I was twenty maybe. Then there was shame in being young, now there is shame in being old.  I approached her, she was caramel brown, her hair curly. I loved the smell of strawberry gum. She had her hands on her head. Her name was Layla. She spoke quickly to me, her voice raspy, her accent Moroccan, her nose little and her appetite seductive. She was rolling her tongue and speaking her language. Her English was never correct but I did not mind, I could listen to her all day. She was older she assumed me to be older than her I quickly appreciated. Then there was shame in being young, now there is shame in being old. She said "I can show around. You look tourist. I take you around And we can go to your hotel. My father Hotel. Good"

He halted and laughed.

"I did not understand half  but I still remember it word by word. I knew what she meant,I knew who she was, I knew what she was. I just didn't care. This morrocan girl was attractive and I was attracted to her. I liked how she spoke, I liked the way she did not adjust her T-shirt or paid any attention to her talks while chewing her gum. She was aggressive with her car, abhsing, slapping and spitting on it.;in plaintive language she did not just care. I went back to her father's hotel. She gave me a drink, I lost my conscious and when I woke up my wallet was missing. I laughed. I laughed loudly. I returned home so glad and grinning over the incident. I did not even tried to look for her. Gypsy girl dissappered in her gypsy world"

His face changed  now.

"I came home I told my father about the entire incident enthusiastically. He listened. Then he said to me "she took your wallet, your money" I repeated I replied "I know, I don't even care", he said "and she took away your Chasity do you still not care" I sinked. On some form she did touch me. It was partly breaking the rules. My father stated "Women Al-Wais can fool a man to such an extent that I swear son if she took more than your wallet then. And your entire fortune later you wouldn't care. That's the power of a dangerous woman" that was it. I never ever could help but cross my feelings for anybody"

"You loved her? " I asked numb of the story.

"I suppose not Falaq-Naaz "

"I think you did"

"who decides what love is anyways? "

"We decide" I firmly answered.

"then I decide it was not.  I forgot her in twenty minutes once I took charge here"

"what would say love is suppose to be then? "

"I cannot describe. Hence indescribable. I suppose it would be beyond my capabilities to handle. When it would be so, it shall be overcome me. For love has to conquer the self-deception, self-doubt and affirmation "

"I wonder it is that hard Al-Wais. I generally admit to have known love as an easily recognizable feeling"

"easily recognizable hardly acceptable "

"I'm afraid that's true"

"That's one thing we agree on"

"we agree over a lot. It's only so that the Elahim Brothers do not like to be associated with me"

"That's not the case. I am glad if we have things in common"

"There is silence" I said taking in all of the cold weather.

"It's beautiful " he said not looking at the night.

"it is" I said not looking at the night.
