Warning: puking (due to consumption of alcohol.)

"Fuck, I should've dressed better!" You shout over the blaring music. You look down in distaste at the top and flannel you were donning. First impressions are pointless anyways, right?
"It's a vibe, honestly. You're like a mysterious trucker which- I mean, yeah it's a party but hey you're drawing more eyes! "
You frown at Madison and head over to the kitchen, pushing past people while apologizing to them when they give you the death/ judgy stare.
"Man, we are in college!" You exclaim as you try to pour some punch from a bowl, spilling it all over when Maddie bumps into you.
"Shit! Sorry! These people sorta get handsy when they're drunk."
"They're that bad already?"
"Yeah, I think most of them pregamed and came."
"Can't believe I'm finally here though," you sigh and take a sip of your drink, your mouth immediately scrunching up. You let out a groan. "That's strong."
Madison frowns at me and then takes a sip.
"Y/n. You are eighteen. This is nothing."
"Hey stop, you can't shame me for being a lightweight," you chuckle, almost self-consciously. "It's not really my scene, you know. Had to work really hard to get here and I didn't really get a chance to party a lot."
"Aw," Madison chuckles and ruffles your hair. You were around 5'5 and she was like 5'11. "Look," she smiles at you and puts an arm around you, "you're here now and your hard work's paid off! It's time for you to have fun. We all deserve it!"
You smile gratefully at her. Madison was the only one you knew on campus and you had only met that day.
You and her walk out of the kitchen and into the crowd. You feel your heartbeat quicken looking at the sea of people. Well, of course, you had friends, but you had a tough time making them.
"Now what?"
"Well, socialize."
You look back up and humourlessly laugh. "It's harder than it sounds."
Maddie must've felt how uncomfortable you were. "Look, once you get into a conversation, it gets easy. Trust me. So just break the ice and the convo will go its own way."
You breathe out and murmur under your breath. You can do this. You've faced worse. Like when you went crazy on the coughing in the elevator or when you were seen in the wrong moment while holding a pornographic magazine when it was meant to be a celeb-
You look at Maddie and square your shoulders slightly. "Okay, yeah you're right. I got this."
"Yeah! That's the spirit. I'm going to hit the dance floor now cause all this punch is making me crazy energetic. Will you come later?"
"I don't know. Probably," you smile. "I'll call you if i have a change of plans." Maddie nods and walks away, sidestepping a bit to the music. You turn back to crowd of people before you.
"Sooocilazzzee." You stretch the word as you breathe out. "This is gonna be fun."
~~
"So you have been to how many schools?" You slur out.
"I don't know. It was like five in one year, give or take."
"SHUT UP!" You say a bit too loudly as he chuckles. "That's messed up!"
You look towards the boy sitting next to you on the sofa. He has brown hair that falls over his face, covering his forehead. He has sexy, sexy eyes. You shake your head at the thought. You never thought stuff like that. You looked back at him. He wore a grey V-neck with a pair of jeans. You had been surprised at his outfit since it had been the one you were sporting; your favourite grey V-neck which had been with you since freshman year of high school. Probably one of the most modestly flattering tops you bought.
Two hours back
You walk past the hall of the house after talking to some drunk guys who made you feel uncomfortable. As smart as a few may be, they can still be borderline misogynistic.
You felt like leaving. This definitely wasn't your scene and you anyways had classes the next day. You sigh and look at your watch. It was only quarter to ten. You take a sip of your punch, which you later realized was something called a purple nurple or something but you couldn't care less. It tasted good and that was all that mattered to you at the time.
You sigh and get ready to leave the Delta Delta Delta sorority house and walk to the room where all the coats were hung.
Right, when you were about to make the turn, you bump into someone and your Purple Nurple fell all over the flannel you wore.
"Ah, shit!"
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking and - wait."
You didn't look up at the obviously goofy guy and start rubbing your hands against the flannel. When you would have not been intoxicated, you would move that rubbing only spreads the stain and makes it worse.
"Here you go." The guy's hand enters your view. You look up at him in a frown as he beckons you to take the napkin.
"No, it's fine." You shrug the flannel off and tie it around your waist, shivering a bit as your T-shirt rides up when you tie the shirt. You smile back up at him like you had found the solution to world hunger or something.
He chuckles and puts the napkin back in his pocket.
"I'm Sam Winchester."
"Y/n Y/l/n."
"Hey, that's a great outfit," he says, trying to save you guys from the momentary silence that took place as you studied each other.
You look down and look back at him and it takes you about 10 seconds to realise you both were wearing the same thing- a grey V neck and jeans.
You chuckle and give him a fake smug smile. "Minimalism is what I go for really. There's something about the effortlessness in a simple grey V neck and jeans I've owned since I was 14." You pause, looking down at your almost empty cup and chugging the remaining contents. "Sam, we're like, fashion buddies now. We're the same. You and I." You gesture between the two of you with both your hands with a grave expression.
"Ho-okay," Sam chuckles and grabs your hands. "How much of that have you had, Y/n?"
Sam's grip on your wrists are soft so you pull away your right hand and bring your index and thumb together. Squinting your eyes, you say, "Just a bit, really. Purple Nurples are a novelty here."
"Really," Sam laughs and lets your hand go, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Lead the way then."
"What're you studying?" You ask while moving towards the hallway, still facing him.
"Law."
"Same! Wow," you chuckle in disbelief. "I've always wanted to be a lawyer after-" You hesitate. "I always wanted to become a lawyer."
He frowns at you and you seem to notice that the guy- Sam has a puppy dog stare. You turn away and walk towards the kitchen.
You quickly divert the topic by asking him a question while looking over your shoulder. "So, have you always wanted to be a lawyer?"
He smiles. "Well, yeah I have. I did receive a bit of pressure from my family for not pursuing... the family business but someone gave me great advice once. A teacher of mine. So here I am."
Huh. A small pit opens up in your stomach. You try to ignore it and smile back at him.
You guys reach the kitchen and you take him to the punch bowl. A smile immediately blooms on your face as you look up at the boy you just met. His eyebrows are raised and he hesitates before looking at you. "Y/n, is that a... is that a dorito in there?"
You look back down to see a few doritos fallen next to the bowl and a soggy one floating to the side. You give him a cheeky smile. "Mhmm."
"I have so many questions." He states in a grave voice. You smile and turn back, grabbing a cup and filling the brim with the drink.
"Would you like the dorito, señor? It's what gives this it's flavour, truly."
"No!" Sam bursts out and immediately regains his composure when he sees you laugh. "Uh, no thank you."
He waits until you fill your cup back upon, keeping mind of the soggy dorito.
"You speak Spanish?"
"Yeah, took a few classes in high school."
He nods and walks behind you as you walk towards the half-occupied couch in the living room.
"Eres muy hermosa." You turn back and look at Sam who's looking at you with raised eyebrows and a hesitant smile. It's almost a challenging look he's giving you but over the loud music and you not remembering jack except for the basics, you don't understand what he says.
"Yeah, yeah. Totally. Si," you give him a thumbs up and he laughs, his skin bathed in a yellow from the dimmed lights of the living room.
You both settle down on the couch and you immediately turn to him. He looks a bit alarmed but faces you too.
"So. I'm intrigued. What's your family business?"
Present
"Well, that's my life."
You break out from your reverie and look towards Sam. In the past- how many ever hours passed- you both had talked about your childhoods. You spoke the most on the topic since Sam said that his childhood wasn't very special. Except for the fact that he always changed schools.
You look around you and notice that you both and a few people in the kitchen were probably the only ones in the house. The rest were still out in the backyard, dancing to some song by the Black Eyed Peas. Maddie had texted she was leaving about a half hour back cause her feet were hurting from all the dancing.
"I've always hated change," you admit, looking into Sam's eyes. You both had gravitated closer as you talked about your childhoods. "It's honestly crazy you could withstand that. I mean, I- well I won't say hate, but it's the feeling I get when I meet new people you know?" Sam nods as you continue. "I love meeting new people but its the feeling of 'hey, what if they don't like me'."
"Yeah," Sam sighs and his lip quirks up in the side. You've noticed that's sort of a defense mechanism of his- when he's about to say something that people usually pity him for. "My uh- my mom died. When I was six months old." He darts his eyes away from yours for a moment, trying to regain himself. You don't react, waiting for him to finish. "It was just me, Dean and my dad. Dad... His job required him to keep moving and we didn't have any other family y'know. But yeah when I was a kid," he pauses to chuckle wryly and takes a sip of his purple nurple before resuming, "going to kindergarten. At dispersal, um, all these kids would have their parents to pick them up- their moms and dads, hugging them and. Well," he pauses again, swallowing. "But uh, only Dad would pick me up and he'd be late too and," he stops speaking and chuckles, the subtle grief on his face vanishing. "I'm sorry I'm boring you with all this. Wow, heavy topic, huh?"
You shake your head, already having sobered up quite a bit hearing Sam talk. "Go on."
He hesitates and you think he might not but he speaks up. "I mean. There's nothing else to it. My point is, for the longest time I thought people would think I'm a freak for not having a mom. I know, it's just how the teenage mind works. Or I thought they'd only be friends with me out of pity." He shakes his head slightly. You place your hand on his holding the cup and wait for him to meet your eyes.
"I just met you but Sam, you're the most interesting person I've met here by a long shot. You're not weird, at least not in the bad way." You grin when he pouts slightly and continue. "And about your mom..."
"Hey, that was me venting, you don't have to say anything," he shakes his head in embarrassment. "Trust me-"
"Listen, I lost someone close too. Not that we can compare it but... All I'm saying is that I'm the last person who's going to pity you."
He nods at you with a small smile. "Honestly, Y/n, I'm so glad I- hey, you okay?"
"Yeah, um-"
The room spins and you cover your mouth suddenly, feeling the urge to puke. You quickly get up and run towards the bathroom and bend over the toilet, your mouth chucking out everything you ate and drank.
You sniff slightly when you think you're done. You feel hands on your back and someone holding up your hair. You look up and see Sam, who looks worried. You smile at him as he rubs your back in small circles, murmuring under his breath how you'll be okay.
And then you savagely turn your head back towards the toilet when you feel the bile rising up your throat once more.
~
"So, that was fun."
Sam chuckles as the both of you walk outside the sorority house. There are a few people standing outside too but you ignore it.
"Yeah, which part- the trauma dumping or the puking?"
You bump your shoulder with Sam and smile.
You remove your phone and give it to him. "Put your number in there."
He looks down at the phone for a moment and back at you. He grabs your phone and punches his number in. He hands it back to you.
"It's already past midnight."
"Well, I bet we will be the ones leaving the party the earliest."
"Aren't you nervous for tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I am. But, I want to be a lawyer and I'm gonna do what I have to."
You look up at him and nod.
"Ok, well, I'm gonna head to the dorm now. Madison is probably waiting for me." You stare up at him, your heart beating a bit faster. The air is cold on your skin but you feel warm.
He stares back, not breathing. Something's going on in his mind and clearly one side wins when he inhales softly and gives a quick nod. "Yeah, it's late. Goodnight."
Your heart sinks a bit in disappointment but it makes sense. Sam doesn't seem like the hook up type and in your mind you couldn't imagine Sam being a casual hook up.
You say your goodbyes and you proceed to your dorm room.
As you walk to the dorms you try to calm the already raging storm of nervousness in you. Hey, college was just starting. You were finally here.
