You moan as Chris nips on your throat. He groans and his lips trail lower.
You had met him at the bar you, Sam and Dean had gone to for a quick drink. It had been so long since your last time and it was Dean who suggested that you talk to Chris.
You found it weird that Dean suggested it but nonetheless, he was right. Chris had a nice home that was clean, unlike other bachelor's houses. Dean was like your gay best friend, but not gay.
You had found it even weirder when Dean suggested it knowing that you had a thing for Sam. But you told him that you liked Sam, not loved him.
You pull Chris's shirt up when he pulls back and stare in surprise at his chiseled abs. He smirks at you before kissing your shoulders. He left love bites on your neck but you didn't mind because of how it made you feel.
Chris was fair and had blue eyes with dirty blonde hair. His voice was deep and his smile was beautiful. He had a British accent and looked like Chris Pine.
Shit.
"You're not Chris Pine, are you?" You ask as you freeze a bit. You raise your eyebrows when you realize how that thought hadn't crossed you before.
He chuckles and his whole body vibrates.
"No, I'm not."
"Oh, okay," you smile and crash your lips onto his.
~~
"Are you sure you can't stay?" Chris asks and you were surprised with his request.
Usually, it's understood that you don't stay the morning after one night stands.
"No, I'm sorry," you look at him. He was on the bed, hoisted up by his elbow and looking at you. The sheets covered his naked body. "I'm on a road trip with my friends. I have to go." You pull your jeans up and pull the zip.
"Well, I had an amazing time with you last night, Y/n." He smiles at you and you can't help but smile back.
Your mind goes back to last night and you smile. It was lovely.
"Yeah, me too," you mumble.
Your pick up your phone and grimace when you see twelve missed calls from Sam.
"Shit."
"What's wrong?"
"I have to go," you say as you put the phone to your ear. "I'll show myself out."
Chris nods with pursed lips and you walk out of the room with your sneakers in your hands. As you trip a bit while putting on your shoes, you make your way out.
"Hey, Sam. What's up?"
"We're in Saginaw, Michigan."
You feel your mouth hang. You start walking to the bus stop so you can get to the motel.
"What do you mean?! Did you leave me here?!" You whisper shout.
"Well, you weren't picking up your phone and we thought you were too busy," he says sarcastically and you roll your eyes.
"So, why couldn't you have waited for me?" You ask as calmly as you could.
"Someone died, Y/n. I had a nightmare or something," he says in confusion and you purse your lips.
"Your stuff is at the motel, same room," he says after a pause and you nod. "Meet us here," he says and you huff.
"Fine."
You cut the call and purse your lips. At least you could take a shower before taking the bus.
~~
It was a four-hour bus ride with all the stops in between and the confusion caused when an old man got onto the wrong bus.
You carry your duffel bags and walk over to the motel they were staying at. You had called Sam again and he had given you the address and room number.
It was dark now, the sun's rays barely lighting up the sky. You should see the half-moon reflecting the light from the sun and the stars twinkling against the dark blue sky.
Just as you were about to knock on their door, it flies open and you see Sam and Dean on the other side.
You smile but the frantic look on Sam's face and the exasperated one on Dean's make your brows knit together.
"What's wrong?" You ask as you walk into the room and chuck your stuff onto the couch.
"Sammy here had another vision," Dean says and you raise your eyebrows as you face Sam.
"You were already sleeping?" You look down at your watch.
"No! Let's leave now. We'll catch you up to speed in the car.
~~
The head was in the pot hanging on the window sill. You gag and turn to face the other direction. You had never seen a dead body before. In other cases, they had already been taken away from the crime scene.
You guys had run up the fire escape stairs only to find the man already dead. The window had sawed his head off from his neck and there was blood everywhere.
Sam had a nightmare of a man dying because of carbon emissions in his garage while he was locked in his car the previous night when you were with Chris.
Sam and Dean had visited the victim's family, had met the son, the wife and the brother, who all thought that Jim Miller, the victim, had committed suicide.
Right before you had arrived, Sam had a vision of Roger Miller, the brother, dying.
You guys tried warning him but he brushed you off and referred to Sam and Dean as 'missionaries' and told that he didn't need help.
After the run up the fire escape stairs, you found his decapitated head in a friggin' flower pot.
Dean's voice snaps you out of your reverie and he thrusts a cloth in your hands. "Here. Start wiping down your fingerprints. We don't want the cops to know that we were here."
You take a shuddering breath and start wiping down the railings weakly. You didn't mind looking at Sam because you knew that he would have the same look on his face.
Dean opened the other window leading to the house to see if he could find out what did this.
If you had tried persuading him a bit harder, maybe he wouldn't have died.
At least, now you knew that something was happening here.
~~
"There was nothin' there. No signs either. Just like the Miller's house," Dean says as the three of you trudge your way to the Impala.
You had no words to describe how you felt. There was a storm of rage, guilt, disgust, and fear in your head.
"I saw something in my vision. Like a dark shape. Something was- Something was stalking Roger," Sam looks at the two of you and you purse your lips.
"Whatever it was, we can be sure that it isn't connected to their house," Dean says as the three of you cross the road.
"No, it's connected to the family instead," Sam says.
"So, a vengeful spirit?" You ask.
"A few of them gave been known to latch onto families, follow them for years. It's like a curse," Dean gets into the Impala and you follow so you continue listening to him. "Maybe Roger and Jim Miller got involved in something heavy. Something curse worthy."
"And something is out for revenge," Sam nods as he understands.
But you couldn't understand everything quite yet.
"Why are you having visions of this family?" You ask as you lean forward to look at Sam.
"Maybe it's because both of our families are cursed," Sam says slowly and you raise your eyebrow.
"Our family's not cursed," Dean says as he scrunches his face. "We've just had our dark spots."
Sam chuckles and you smile. "Our dark spots are pretty dark."
"You're...dark."
~~
"I'll just put on this sweater and voila! I look like I could work for the church!" You look at yourself in the mirror.
You were wearing a light pink sweater with beige trousers and black belles. You had your hair tied back in a tight bun which actually hurt your scalp a bit.
It was the next day and you guys were on the way to the Miller's house.
"Yeah sure," Sam snorts and you give him your bitch face.
"Okay, let's go, then," Dean says.
~
"My mom's resting. She's pretty wrecked," Max Miller, the son of Jim Miller says as he walks into the living room. You, Sam and Dean, followed him.
Max had blonde hair and light blue eyes. He was as tall as you. He was a bit wary of letting you guys in when he saw you but you smiled reassuringly at him and you guessed that he caved.
"Of course," Dean replies as you look around the house. You smile once again at Max when you notice him staring warily at you.
"All these people kept coming with, like, casseroles. I finally had to tell them all to go away. You know, because nothing says I'm sorry than a tuna casserole," he says and you chuckle. You quickly regain composure when you see Dean's death stare. You look at Max and see him smiling at the floor.
Max gestures for you guys to sit.
"How you holdin' up?" Sam asks and you look at him. Sam had pushed his hair behind his ears which surprisingly made him look a few years older than how he looked with the hair covering his forehead.
He looked nice.
You quickly tell that part of your brain to shut up and you straighten up in your seat.
"I'm okay," Max replies and you frown at how uncomfortable he looked.
"Your dad and uncle were close," Sam asks as he looks at Max.
"Yeah, I guess. I mean, they were brothers. They used to hang out all the time when I was little."
"But not lately?" You talk for the first time and Max looks at you.
"No, it's not that. It's just...we used to be neighbors when I was a kid and we lived across town in this house. Uncle Roger lived next door so he was over all the time."
"So how was it in that house when you were a kid?"
"It was fine. Why?" Max asks and you feel a pit in your stomach. He looked pale and uncomfortable on the topic of his old neighborhood. Maybe, h missed his dad and uncle.
"All good memories? Do you remember anything unusual? Something involving your father and uncle maybe?" Dean asks and Max chuckles slightly.
"Why do you... Why do you ask?" He smiles but you can see his eyes shining slightly.
You look at Sam who glanced at you. The two of you share a look before you turn back to Max.
"Just a question," Dean replies.
Max takes a deep breath and shrugs. "No, there was nothing. We were totally normal. Happy."
"Good," you say finally when you know that you guys were taking it too far. It was obviously tough for Max to talk about it.
Max smiles slightly before taking another deep breath.
~~
"Have you lived in the neighborhood very long?"
You guys had found out Max's old neighborhood's name and address and were asking locals questions.
"Almost 20 years. It's nice and quiet. Why, you looking to buy?" The neighbor asks the three of you.
"No, we were wondering if you recall a family that used to live right across the street, I believe."
"Yeah, the Millers. They had a little boy named Max."
The man nods and purses his lips. "Yeah, I remember them. The brother had the place next door. So, what's this about? That poor kid okay?"
You furrow your brows at his question. "What do you mean?"
"Well, in my life, I've never seen a child treated like that. I mean, I'd hear Mister Miller yelling and throwing things clear across the street. He was a mean drunk. He used to beat the tar out of Max. Bruises. Broke his arm two times that I know of."
You grit your teeth. You had never felt such hatred brewing inside of you before.
"And this was going on regularly?"
"Practically every day," he responds with a frown and you blink your eyes furiously. The picture of Max as a kid with a bloodied face and a broken arm...
"In fact, that thug brother of his was just as likely to swing at him but the worst part was...the stepmother," he pauses. "She'd just stand there, checked out. Never lifted a finger to protect him. I must have called the police seven or eight times. Never did any good."
You involuntarily take a step back and look scornfully at the house across the street.
"Now, you said stepmother," Dean says.
"I think his real mom died in some sort of accident. Car accident, I think."
You look at Sam when you see him shake his head and grip the bridge of his nose.
"Sam," you say as you move towards him.
The man asks Sam if he's alright.
You thank the man for his time as you and Dean help Sam walk back to the Impala. He held his head in pain and groaned before clenching the roof of the Impala.
"What's going on?" You ask Dean worriedly as you grip Sam's arm.
"He's having his vision."
~
"Max is doing it. Everything that I've been seeing."
"You sure?" You ask Sam warily. After what you just heard about Max, you couldn't bring yourself to blame murder on him. But it made sense. He was taking revenge.
"Yeah, I saw him," Sam says and you grimace.
"How's he pulling it off?" Dean looks at the younger Winchester before looking back at the road.
Sam saw Max killing his mom in his vision so you guys were on your way to stop it. You just hoped that you could.
"It looked like telekinesis."
"So he's psychic, he's a spoon bender?"
"I didn't even realize it, this whole time, he was there," Sam says. "He was even outside the garage when his dad died. He was in the apartment when his uncle died. These visions. I wasn't connected to the Millers. I was connecting to Max. The thing is I don't get why, man. I guess... because we're so alike?"
"What are you talking about? The dude's nothing like you," Dean says as he scrunches his face in disapproval.
"We both have psychic abilities. We're both-"
"Both what? Max is a monster. He's killed two people and now he's gunning for a third."
"They deserved it," you mumble and Dean raises his eyebrows.
"You've gotta be kidding me."
"What? They beat him up every day, Dean! Maybe the mom should be let go but those two dickbags deserved it."
"That doesn't justify murdering your whole family. He's no different from anything else that we've hunted. Alright? We've got to end him."
"We're not going to kill Max," Sam says.
"Then what?" Dean asks and turns back to look at you too. "Hand him to the cops and say, 'Lock him up. He kills with his mind'?"
"Forget it. No way, man," Sam says and Dean looks back at you for support.
"I agree with Sam," you say finally and raise your voice a bit when Dean rolls his eyes. "He is a person, Dean."
After trying to talk him out of killing Max, Dean finally settles on taking his white-handled gun for protection against the telepathic killer.
~
The door, shutters, and blinds all shut at the same time.
You guys had entered the house just minutes ago and had seen Mrs. Miller and Max in the kitchen.
At least she wasn't dead yet.
After convincing Max to talk to you guys, when you were about to exit the house, everything closed.
"You're not priests," Max says as he looks at the three of you in fear. Dean whips his gun out and you hear Mrs. Miller gasp. Max uses his powers and gets Dean's gun and your eyes widen.
"Max, what's happening?" Mrs. Miller asks as the three of you move to face him. You raise your hands up in surrender. Sam slightly pushes you behind him but you stand your ground beside him.
"Shut up," Max says as he quakes. You couldn't tell if it was from rage or fear.
"What are you doing?" She asks again and is suddenly flung from where she is standing until her head hits the kitchen counter and she faints.
"I said shut up!" Max shouts and you wince. Sam tries pushing you behind him once again but you elbow him.
"Max! Calm down!" You say.
"Who are you?!" He holds the side of his face and you feel yourself falter. He looked so scared. Sam answers for you.
"We just want to talk to you."
"Yeah, right! That's why you brought this!" He shouts as he indicates to Dean's gun in his hand.
"That was a mistake alright? So was lying about who we were but no more lying, Max. Just please, please hear me out."
"About what!"
"I saw you do it. I saw you kill your father and uncle before it happened."
"What?"
"I'm having visions, Max. About you."
"You're crazy," Max says and you were going to give a sarcastic reply but stop yourself.
This man was holding you at gunpoint. It would certainly be a dumb idea to rattle him.
"So you weren't going to launch a knife at your mom?" Sam indicates to his eye.
You raise your eyebrows and your eyes dart to Mrs. Miller. She lay unmoving on the kitchen floor. You knew you ought to listen to what the guys were talking about but you couldn't help wondering if the woman was dead or not.
You suddenly look around in surprise when you hear some rattling. You look up and see the chandelier above you guys shaking.
"No one's leaving the house!" Max shouts out and you look at him.
He was so scared...
Sam calms him down and tells that you, Dean and Mrs. Miller could go upstairs while he and Max talked. Your eyes widen and you look at Dean.
"No way," you say and Max points the gun at you. You give him a stern look and keep your ground. Sam once again tries to come in front of you but you once again elbow him.
"Y/n, go," Sam whispers and you take a deep breath.
You look up at him and hesitate before whispering back. "Just be careful." You put your hands down and give his arm a squeeze before walking to the stairs and waiting for Dean to get Mrs. Miller.
You make your way upstairs trailing behind Dean.
"Maybe- maybe I can stay here and spy on them," you whisper and Dean raises his eyebrow as he considers it.
"No. No, I can't put you in risk," he shakes his head as he carries the injured Mrs. Miller into the bedroom. She had a long cut on her forehead where she hit the edge of the counter.
"Then you do it. Make sure that Sam's safe," you whisper again and look at him as Mrs. Miller stands up on her own and sits on the bed. He examines her wound and looks up at you again.
"I'm not doing it, Y/n. Let them just be," he says and you scoff.
You make your way to Mrs. Miller. After taking a cloth that was on the bed, you ask her to put it on her wound. It was pretty bad. You knit your eyebrows when you see how her blood soaks the cloth.
You turn back to face Dean and raise your chin. "I'm going to spy on them."
You turn around and make your way to the door. Before you can open it, it swings open and Max walks in.
"Max, what-"
He uses his telekinesis to make the gun hover before Mrs. Miller and you gasp.
The world seems to go slower and you feel your heart pumping.
With a flick of Max's wrist, Dean is flung across the room because of something he said. You take a deep breath and walk towards Mrs. Miller.
Dean gets up too and stands in front of Mrs. Miller. You stand beside him.
"Stay back. It's not about the two of you," Max says with shining eyes and the gun remains hovering between you guys.
"You're going to kill her, you've gotta go through me first," Dean says.
"Yeah, me too," you say and Dean rolls his eyes.
Max smiles slightly. "Okay."
A sharp pain goes through your head when you hear the sound of the gun click. You fall to your knees, your world going dark. Your blood splatters onto the wall and a bit on Dean.
"Y/n!" Dean shouts and kneels down beside you before his blood too, decorates the wall along with a bullet hole.
Sam snaps out of vision and shouts in frustration and anger. He couldn't let Dean die. He couldn't let you die.
He hears scraping on wood and tried opening the closet Max had trapped him in. It opens and he sees the cupboard that was blocking the door from opening, tilted to the side as if something had pushed it.
But he had no time to think about that. If he didn't hurry, you and Dean would die.
He runs up the stairs and bursts through the closed door to hear you say: "Yeah, me too."
"No, don't! Don't! Please! Please, Max. We can help you. All right? But this, what you're doing, it's not the solution. It's not going to fix anything," Sam shouts and looks at your surprised expression. If he had been a second late...
When you notice him looking at you, you close your mouth and raise your chin slightly.
Max pauses before answering. "You're right," he says quietly before the gun pointed at you guys turns around and shoots him in the head.
You step back in surprise and your mouth hangs open.
He just killed himself.
"No!" Sam shouts as Max's body hits the ground.
You gasp. "Max," you breathe out.
~~
You guys walk out of the house after the cops interrogate you.
Mrs. Miller had come up with a story that didn't include telekinesis.
"If I'd just said something else. Gotten through to him somehow." Sam mumbles.
"Don't do that," you say and look at Dean as he nods with what you said.
"Do what?"
"Torture yourself. It wouldn't have mattered what you said, Max was too far gone," Dean says this time. Sam looks between the two of you before speaking again.
"When I think about how he looked at me man, right before... I should've done something," Sam persists and you sigh.
"C'mon man, you risked your life! I mean yeah, maybe if we'd gotten there twenty years earlier," Dean says once again and you nod. That was a valid point.
"Well, I'll tell you one thing. We're lucky we had Dad."
"Well, I never thought I'd hear you say that," Dean says with a surprised expression. You suddenly feel like a stranger in their conversation and you purse your lips.
"Well, he could've gone a whole other way after Mom. A little more tequila, a little less demon hunting, and we would've had Max's childhood. All things considered, we turned out okay. Thanks to him."
"All things considered."
~
"I been thinkin'," Sam says in the Impala. You guys were on your way back to the motel.
"Oh, that's never a good thing," Dean jokes and you chuckle.
"I'm serious. I have been thinkin'. Why would this demon, whatever it is, why would it kill Mom and Jessica and Max's mother? You know, what does it want?" You purse your lips at his questions.
"No idea," Dean replies for the two of you.
"Well, you think maybe it, it was after us? After Max and me?"
"Why would you think that?" You ask.
"I mean, either telekinesis or premonitions, we both had abilities, you know? Maybe- maybe it was after us for some reason."
"Sam, if it wanted you it would've just taken you. Okay? This is not your fault. It's not about you," Dean assures Sam.
"Then what is it about?"
"It's about that damn thing that did this to our family. The thing that we're gonna find, the thing that we're gonna kill. And that's all."
"Actually there's uh...something else too."
"Oh jeez, what?" You ask Sam, trying to lighten up the mood.
"When Max locked me in that closet, that big cabinet against the door ... I moved it."
"Huh. You got a little more upper body strength than I gave you credit for!" Dean exclaims and you raise your eyebrows at the thought of Sam moving it.
"No man, I moved it. Like... Max."
"Oh. Right," Dean says awkwardly and you bite your lip and nod.
"Yeah."
Dean holds up a spoon which you didn't know where he got from and looks at Sam. "Bend this."
Sam scoffs and you chuckle and Dean's childlike amusement.
"But aren't you guys worried. Aren't you worried that I could turn into Max or something?" Sam asks after a while.
"Nope. No way. You know why?" Dean asks.
"No. Why?"
"Cause you got one advantage that Max didn't have," Dean answers Sam.
"Dad? Because Dad's not here, Dean."
"No. Us. Y/n and I," Dean corrects Sam. Sam turns around to look at you and you give him a small smile.
Dean smiles as he continues speaking. "As long as I'm around, nothing bad is gonna happen to you. Now then, I know what we need to do about your premonitions. I know where we have to go."
"Where?" Sam asks and you feel your curiosity peaking too.
"Vegas."
You chuckle and Sam scoffs.
"What? Come on, man. Craps table? We'd clean up."
~~
"Hello?"
"Hey, Y/n. It's Chris," the British voice says on the other end.
"Chris?" You ask warily.
You sit down on the couch, besides your duffel bag that had your stuff spilling out of it. You guys were packing up to hit the road.
"Yeah. Chris Williams. We met at the bar... The other night," he tries to clear your memory but you already remembered.
"Yes, I remember now!" You lie. "Um, how'd you get my number?" You ask and Sam looks up from his packing at you.
Dean was buying some stuff from the store that was a block away from the motel.
"You gave it to me," he chuckles. "You were so drunk that you wrote it on a tissue and slipped to me?"
Your mind goes back to the moment and you shut your eyes as you remembered the gist of it. It was a bit hazy.
"Oh yeah," you smile awkwardly and Sam raises his eyebrows questioningly.
"I know that you probably looking for a one night stand and I probably sound lame saying this but I like you," he says and chuckles.
"I'm flattered, Chris, but I am on a road trip and I'm not looking for a relationship right now," you say slowly as Sam scoffs.
"Oh, me too," he says and you raise your eyebrows.
"You're on a road trip?"
"No, not exactly," he chuckles. "I just move around a lot for work."
"Oh, okay," you mumble and he continues speaking.
"But just hit me up when you're in town. I reside there most of the year," he says and you smile.
"Yeah, I will do that," you say and hear him sigh.
"Well, then. Goodbye, darling."
"Bye," you say as you blush.
You bring the phone down and resume packing.
"Chris?" Sam asks as he crosses his arms and looks at you.
"Uh, just someone I met," you mumble as you keep your eyes on your bag and the clothes you're stuffing in.
"Or the man that you missed my calls for," Sam raises his eyebrow suspiciously.
"Maybe," you look at him with your chin raised. He had no business with who you hooked up.
"Ah, and he has your number why?" He asks and you feel yourself get irritated. So, the only logical way in this conversation was to irritate him too.
"Because I gave it to him," you say and shrug.
"You gave it to him? You-" he scoffs and you give him an amused look.
"Yeah, so?"
"What if he's a-a monster? A vampire or a werewolf?"
"Last I checked, not everyone is a monster and," you felt like you would regret saying it to Sam, "I actually like him."
Sam feels his heart clench when those words leave your mouth. He brushes the feeling off and clenches his jaw.
"You're like Dean," he says and he instantly regrets it.
"What do you mean?" You ask with an irritated look on your face.
God knows why but Sam continued speaking. "One night stands, Y/n. Seriously?"
You raise your eyebrows. You try to calm yourself down and look at him again. "Well, I wouldn't have done it if I knew I was going to be judged by you. You, who have been my friend for what? Three and a half years?"
The anger from Sam's face instantly fades away and he sighs. He walks over to you and sits beside you.
"You're right," he says and you bite your lip.
Even if you loved him, even if your heart clenched when you said that you liked Chris just to see his reaction, you didn't like the way he reacted.
"Sam. You've got to give me my own privacy," you say and face him.
His breath stirred your hair slightly.
Sam saw the bruises on your neck and lets out a breath.
How did he not notice it before?
He felt a scowl showing up on his face but he quickly hides it. He couldn't let you see his reaction to the hickies on your neck. Maybe they weren't even hickies. He quickly purses his lips before speaking again.
"Yeah, I know. I'm sor-"
"We can't talk about this stuff," you sigh. Talking about sex you had with other guys with the guy you loved.
You didn't expect the look of surprise followed by sadness appear on Sam's face. He gave you the puppy dog stare as he spoke again.
"I'm sorry."
You gaze into his eyes and look away, clenching your jaw.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
You turn slowly back to him. "How do you have such a perfect puppy-dog look?"
