The lights of the beautiful cityscape made a certain woman smile. She's glad that she managed to buy a condo that could witness such magnificent night view. It makes her feel more relaxed and productive with.
Chaeyoung sat on the couch facing the window to the night. She's having a deep thoughts about how good her life is but somehow she felt something is lacking. It was unexplainable to say and she doesn't even know what she needs. A loving family, friends, have an exceptional talent, useful brain, money and beauty. She could actually say she's one of the luckiest persons in the whole world but she can't... she felt like there's something missing and can't really point out what it is.
A sudden call interrupted her train of thoughts. Looking at the name flashing on her phone, a sigh escaped from her lips. She rejected the call and started to get herself ready. The day has not yet ended, for her it just started. Wearing her jacket and taking her keys in hand, she headed towards the door but before she could open it. A hard object was pressed on her back.
"Don't move or I'll shoot" it was a foreign cold voice she do not recognize. She raised both hands to imply that she's not going to retaliate. The intruder tied them on her back and when she was turned around to face the stranger, Chaeyoung's world stopped. There was a lady wearing a black suit with a mask covering her face standing in front of her. But that's not what made her stop. It was the necklace she is wearing.
"W-where did you get that necklace?" She asked in shock. Mina who do not understand her question, knitted her brows.
"Did I told you to speak?" Her voice was like a cold air tracing down her spine. Chae shut her mouth, not wanting to trigger her more. The assassin harshly drag her to the couch. While the intruder is calling someone, she continued to stare on the stranger. She can't believe it. The girl she almost forgot in time has finally came back. The person she's looking for. The missing piece. A smile creeps on her lips. She finally got to see her. She found it.
"What are you laughing about?" Mina didn't know what she got into but she thought that she might have a weird victim this time. In contrary, Chaeyoung felt like she found something very important.
"Hey want to work for me?" she mindlessly asked. Mina's brow twitched to that. She didn't respond instead she gave her a chilling glare.
"I know you're going to kill me but can you just hear me a little?" Chaeyoung is desperate. She want her. Before Mina could response, her phone rang. She gave her victim a warning look to shut up before answering the call.
"What? I'm really going to kill you snake" her voice became more cold and threatening. It took her some minutes before talking again.
"Fine. You owe me a kill" she ended the call and inhaled deeply. With a pissed cold eyes, she untied the girl.
"You're lucky It's not time yet" She hissed and pointed the gun again to Chaeyoung. Taking a step back, she escaped the place stealthily. Chae was left with a complicated look. She wanted to stop her assailant but she know she can't. With a disappointed huff, she laid back to her bed.
"Is she really her?" she asked on the empty room. There are many changes to the girl. The girl she met a long time ago is a smiling kid with a very warm feeling. That person sounded so lonely and broken. For a moment she thought how fast the event happened. Why did she left? who ordered her? many questions rose up but there was no answer. She can't be wrong by the necklace. That was a customized present by her mother for her tenth birthday. The only person who has that is her first love. Why would that person have that? frustration starts to build up inside.
That could only be answered if she'll meet her again.
...
Mina annoyingly entered the van and didn't say anything.
"Sor-"
"Don't say a word or I'll slit your throat" She coldly said that Sana unconsciously covered her neck. Momo chuckled who's driving them out.
"Momoring, Mina-chan is scary" Sana pouted looking like a kicked out puppy.
"She almost got to finish her target of course she'll feel like that" Momo laughed. Mina gave her a cold stare which made her stop as well. The ride to their HQ were silent as dead, no one dared to talk and piss the younger girl more. Momo and Sana don't know if it's because of the air conditioner or the ice cold assassin they are with but the car's atmosphere had become Antarctica itself. Arriving to the place, Sana excitedly entered the place and searched for a certain ash grey haired girl.
"Dahyunie!" She ran to her and envelop her with a warm hug.
"Oh you're back" Dahyun hug her back with the same tight.
"Yes and someone has to cool down here" Momo look at Mina's direction. All eyes averted to her. She just rolled her eyes and walk towards her room.
"What's wrong with her?" Dahyun cluelessly asked.
"Change of mission. The client wanted her target to suffer first" Momo explained while getting some water for herself.
"On what way?" she asked again.
"By getting her close" She continued.
"Woah that was really heartless" Dahyun commented while Sana is playing with her hair.
"Yeah but our ace is on charge so that might be easy for her" They continued talking about the assassin's mission without knowing who's going to be the other end. Meanwhile on the other side of the house, Mina was staring at the moon from the rooftop. Her eyes cold and empty. She was thinking about what happened today. How her victim seems to be acting weirdly.
"She's a weird one" She talked to herself. "What should I do to gain her trust without making it obvious?"
"I know a way. Son Chaeyoung right?" Tzuyu suddenly came along and join her holding a can of soda and a beer. She handed the beer to Mina.
"What?" -Mina.
"I can get you into her company without making any suspicious." She drank her soda and flashes her smirk. Mina's expression didn't change though. It stayed cold and stiff.
"What would be the exchange for that?" She knew there's no more easy job this days and Tzuyu was one to give conditions.
"Hmm I don't know. I'll think about it but for now take it as a friendly help" Mina continued staring at her. Weighing to trust her or not. She's not one to owe someone but maybe just this time. It's not like she won't repay the younger girl, she'll take it as a debt. It'll be hard to be near her target since she made a move first and the other person might be already alarmed at the very moment.
A help is necessary this time. She thought and so she nodded. They stayed on the rooftop, watching the night sky drinking a beer and soda. After finishing their drink, Mina left first without saying anything. Tzuyu watched her unnie leave. When the door finally closed, she released a sigh.
"It'll be interesting from this point" She smiled, this time it was genuine.
...
Chaeyoung is on her way to the place her unnie texted. She didn't report anything about the intruder either. She doesn't feel the need to do so as she didn't want her father to go on a tight security on her again. It was really uncomfortable having men or strangers by your side and watch you. Arriving at the place, she saw her cousin and unnies waiting for her.
"What took you so long?" Jeong gave her a worried look.
"Traffic. So what's up?" She smiled trying to hide the lie she just said.
"Father and uncle will be making a new business so I'm going to ask you if you are interested in managing this with me?" Jeong's eyes were giving way that she needed some help.
"Ugh why me? Nayeon and Jihyo unnie are here too" She gave the other two a glance.
"I already asked them and they'll be holding different departments" She beamed.
"What business is this exactly?" Chaeyoung frowned.
"An entertainment" She winked. Chaeyoung's interest perked up from the word. The four of them had it planned a long time ago and now her cousin is making it come true.
"So what's my role?" Her dimple smile showing off.
"Is that a yes producer Chaeng?" Jihyo winked.
"I like it. Let's do it" Agreeing to the proposal made her forgot about what just happened an hour ago.
...
Chaeyoung sat on her new office. It was something she wanted. It's not like she doesn't have one before but the job made the difference. Finally, her father seems to let her do what she wants. She just hopes that he won't push her to be the successor again. She hates it. The attention. There was a folder of applicants in her desk and she reached for it. The first of many is Myoui Mina, 25 years old, a japanese dance instructor, applying for assistant producer.
"She's a dance instructor but wanted to be a producer" She chuckled. She flipped the application form and found a card. Chou Tzuyu? wait Chou??? that fucking Yoda?! she immediately dialed the number from the card.
"Hello cub" the girl answered as if knowing that she's going to call.
"What the hell?" Chaeng can't help but smile from the idea that she's talking to her friend again.
"What? did you saw it? I'm recommending her" Chaeyoung could imagine her friend having a smug face again.
"Who told you to disappear like that?" she's not gonna let the girl go after leaving them for years now.
"I just need to do some business Chaeng" she laughed.
"Business my ass. You didn't even contacted us for once. Nayeon unnie even tried to put a curse on you" She joked which was not really a joke since her the older girl really talked about something like that.
"Tell her she don't need to cause I'll be back"
"Brace yourself cause you'll be interrogated for a week" Chaeyoung chuckled.
"I know. I need to go so what can you say about my recommendation?"
"She's starting tomorrow" Tzuyu smiled from the other line.
"thanks call you next time Chaeng"
Then the call ended.
...
"step one clear" she turned around to see Mina looking at her with a poker face.
"You smiled" Mina noticed as if it's the weirdest thing she saw.
"Of course. I finally talked to someone I missed" she smiled again.
"If she's important to you, why doing this?" Mina stared at her deeply like she's peeking through her soul.
"Don't know just wanna see interesting things. You see my friend is someone you can never underestimate" She smirked. "You need to be careful with her"
"You're really wicked" Mina stood up and turned around to leave but before she could, she said one more thing. "I'll make sure you'll regret helping me" She smirked and drag her heels out.
"No Mina unnie. You'll be the one regretting that" Tzuyu sips on her coffee. Her phone rang from a registered number.
"Hello unnie. I followed what you said.. yeah.. okay let's meet.. bye"
