Chapter 26

The four girl just finished their meeting. Nayeon was the one in charge in substitute for the captain. Mina does not care who explains, she's just focus on the idea of getting back to Akira. Dahyun has yet to regain consciousness. As much as she wanted to stay, she promised the cub that they'll meet back on her condo.

"I'll get going." She stood up from her seat but not until Nayeon stopped her.

"Be careful and the one I told you." She said. Mina stared at her for a good seconds.

"Yeah you should be the one to be careful. They can recognize you." Mina blankly said and started walking to the door. She wave her hands without turning to them and left the room.

"See she's not so bad isn't she?" Sana smiled while still has her eyes on the door where the woman just left.

"Yeah kind of surprised me." Nayeon shrug.

"She's a mystery box herself." Momo agreed.

"Can't agree more. I should go too. Take care here okay? Call me if Dahyun wakes up." She too bid her goodbye and left the room. Now it is only Sana and Momo.

"Let's go check Dahyun?" Momo smiled to the girl.

"we should"

Nayeon texted Jeongyeon that she's on her way home. After that night things about them seems to calm down but Nayeon knows time will come for her to be honest with the girl. Jeongyeon deserves to know of all people. Nayeon needs to prepare her heart first.

Jeongyeon replied on her text that she just finished cleaning the condo and on her way to buy some ingredients for dinner. Nayeon chuckled seeing the reply. She can already imagine the bored face of the girl. After some time she arrived at their home. It was silent. Maybe the girl is still on the nearby store.

"Woah it's so clean." She said in amazement. The floor literally shines and the furnitures and things are meticulously arranged. As expected.

She decided to retire on their room to change. Ugh it's been two days and half since she returned home. She missed their shared bed and obviously the other owner. Nayeon jumps on the bed after changing in comfortable clothes while hugging the bunny stuffed toy Jeong gave to her.

"What's taking your mother so long?" She talked to the bunny and squished the cheeks. She rolled on the bed like a kid while murmuring how she wants Jeongyeon to return hurriedly. Just then the lock on the door clicked.

"I'm home!" Jeongyeon announced. Nayeon heard it and ran to the entrance. There she saw her lover holding a plastic bag. Smiling ear to ear she jumps to her arms without a warning. Jeongyeon almost stumbled back. Good thing she managed to balance them. She has to let go of the plastic to catch her. Ugh please let the veggies be okay.

"Yah that's dangerous" She scolded. Nayeon laughed it out.

"I missed you~" She cutely pouted while still clinging on the taller woman like a koala. Jeong can't withstand Nayeon's cuteness and broke into a smile too.

"nado bogoshipo" She grins and kissed girl on the lips. "But whose fault was it?" She gave her a teasing smile. Nayeon frowned.

"Ara but I can't help it I need to go help." Nayeon reasoned. Jeong just laughed and nodded.

"I know I'm just teasing you. Come on I'll put you down. I need to feed my big baby." She put the older down and pinched her cheeks lightly. Nayeon complained but Jeongyeon just planted a kiss on her red cheeks and everything is okay again.

"Ugh anyway what took you so long?" Nayeon sat in isle of the kitchen while watching the woman cook.

"Ahh I met someone who seems to lost her money. We became friends for a short time. She's a chatterbox" Jeongyeon looks so happy remembering the girl again.

"Really? how did you meet her?"

"Uhm we met this lunch. I was craving for something to eat and then I saw her having a banter with an ice cream vendor."

"Ohh really?" Nayeon asked with interest for her lover's day.

"Yeah I ended up buying her an ice cream." Jeong chuckled. The memory of the girl looking like a kid inched in her mind.

"Tsk. So you are buying strangers ice cream now?" Nayeon pouted from the idea. Jeong turned to her when she notice the little jealousy in her tone.

"It's not like that. I don't like seeing others fighting for petty things. Anyways, we met again when I was on my way back here." She continued to cut the veggies.

"What did you do?"

"Hmm we talked but well I can't really call it a normal conversation since she has this weird vibes."

"Aw I'm jealous." Nayeon commented. Jeong laughed on that.

"You don't need to. She's just a friend. You are my life now." Jeong sent her a wink and Nayeon blushed from the bold words.

"Ugh why are you such a  sweet talker?"

"Well you love me for that right?" She confidently said with a cheeky grin. Nayeon can't help but smile too.

"Whatever. You should introduce me to that new friend of yours"

"Ahh you mean Aki? She don't live in the area it just happened that she has a business to take care." She answered.

"Aki?" Why does the name irks me.

"Yeah she's a korean but her adopted parents are japanese. Weird right?" Jeong shrug.

"You seem to know more of her." Nayeon teased.

"Ani. I told you she's a chatterbox. It's hard to believe since she said I am the first friend to ever help her genuinely." She smiled. Nayeon just nodded. Aki huh it sounds suspicious since it's close to that woman's name but it's impossible for that woman to know Jeong. Does it?

"Okay done we just have to wait for it to boil." Jeong exclaimed after closing the lid.

Well let's think about that next time.

Mina just arrived at the condo and saw a pair of shoe on the entrance. She then concluded that the girl is already home. Entering the living room she saw Chaeyoung in her hoodie while watching netflix.

"Oh you're back!" She exclaimed but Mina noticed the small sadness in her look. Somehow it contradicts her expression.

"Yeah did you eat already?" She knew pretending is useless anymore so she let her cold demeanor show more.

"Yes Jihyo unnie treat me for dinner." lie. Chaeyoung is lying. She just don't want to eat, her appetite gone since hours ago.

"Good" Mina sat beside her on the couch.

"Hmm what do you want to watch?" Chaeyoung reached for the remote.

"Cut the act. You know what I want to talk about." Mina get straight to the point. Chaeyoung let out a sigh. She pressed the off button to turn off the tv.

"Geez. So straight forward." She commented under her breathe and acted like she is annoyed. Mina didn't mind it.

"About you and my assassination. I decided." She started with her still monotonous tone. Chaeyoung smiled and looked at her expectantly.

"My boss she told me to stop the mission. I don't know what's in her mind but she said to do what I want with you." Mina leaned on the back of the couch. Chaeyoung observes her from the side. So this is what  Jihyo unnie means.

"So what do you want to do with me?" She asked.

"With all the pride that's still in me, I still want to kill you." She answered. Chaeyoung smiled, it's not a genuine one though.

"But-" Mina turned to face her. "I know I can't kill you too."

Her answer seems to surprise Chaeyoung as she look so stunned.

" W-why?"

"Well you are someone who makes me feel human again. So I don't think I can, maybe it is what they call desperate feelings? I can't understand my emotions. I was stuck with emptiness before I met you so maybe when I started feeling this weird things I got fascinated and don't want to let go." She said it without having a hint of emotions in her voice.

Chaeyoung looked straight at her cold eyes. It was empty, far from the girl she fell in love with. She might let her feel love again but the Mina before and now are different. The girl I promised forever isn't the same person anymore. She's the Mina who don't know anything about her past. The Mina who kills and the Mina who happened to lost her affections.

"So what do you feel about me?" She asked in curiosity. Even if she can't let her remember, she can't avoid the fact that this girl, her killer, is indeed attractive.

"I found you weird." She said bluntly.

"eh?"

"Well the fact that you hold on the promise of someone in your childhood until now without even a reassurance is weird." She stated as if it's a foreign thing. Chaeyoung chuckled to her answer.

"You know, sometimes I see you as a very intimidating person but now that I am starting to know you more. I can see how innocent you are." She giggled.

"I am no innocent." Mina complained with frown.

"See that. You look like a lost kid. It makes me want to hide you from the world." She tilted her head sporting a wide smile. She's half-teasing the girl.

"But I killed many. I lost count how many are them now." She retort.

"Maybe you did but that is how you are told right? You didn't actually chose that." She countered. Mina knows the girl is right. When it comes to fighting she might be the most skilled person out there but if you talk about a person. She don't know where to stand. She can't feel anything about them. She only kill because that is how the organization wanted her to be. The thirst of killing someone. The satisfaction when the deed is done and the emotions empowering. Maybe it's the same reason why she can't kill the girl.

"Maybe you are right." She looked straight in front. Empty..

Chaeyoung let out a sigh.

"So what is our relationship now?" Chaeyoung wanted to know it herself where to stand.

"I don't know where should relationship start with?" She asked back.

Ugh yeah she don't know about stuffs like this.

"How about friends?" She offered a hand to shake. Mina looked at it for a moment and then to her face.

"Are we?" Mina asked.

"Well we are, originally, but since you did that to get close to me and kill me. Let's redo it." Chaeyoung reached for her hand and force it to shake with her hand.

"Now we are officially friends okay?" She smiled. Mina let out a sigh seeing that she look so happy about it.

"Fine." She give up. Chaeyoung giggled to her reaction.

"So chingu are you quitting your job now?" She asked with renewed enthusiasm.

"Since I won't be killing you then it's pointless to continue as your bodyguard and you can find a better assistant." She said with much calmer voice now. She seems relaxed.

"Aw I'll be missing you" She pouted. This is good, the atmosphere is starting to warm up.

"Tch. Aren't you complaining of me acting as the boss?" Mina smirked. She's loosening up to me. Maybe I can give up on my first love and love this cute bundle of ice.

"Ani I told you it's fine. I don't mind since we got closer because of it. Besides, I still have to teach you how that works." She chuckled while pointing at Mina's chest. Well I can get used to this.

"That, I guess you do. You don't mind a killer being your companion?" She asked.

"Hmm? Well I don't really care about such stuffs. We are friends. I care for you that's all that matters." She answered with all honesty.

"See you really are an odd one. If others would know they'll probably freak out." She commented. Chaeyoung laughed hearing that.

"I might agree with you in that. I am really different from others you know. Aren't I unique?" She proudly smiled.

"Indeed you are. Maybe that's the reason why I started feeling things. It's because you are different from the majority." She nodded to herself and cross her arms as if thinking.

"Uhuh is that a compliment?" She giggled. The mood is light, ah this is good.

"You can take it however you like. I don't mind." Mina looked at her with the still blank face.

"Ugh whatever. Let's go eat dinner." She stood up from her seat. Mina raised a brow.

"I thought you already eaten?" She asked.

"Oh I got hungry again talking with you. Come on chingu." She pulled the girl up and drag her in the kitchen.

I got sad from the fact that I can't let you remember me. Maybe those feelings towards my first love will always have a special part in my heart. But I can now say... I'm ready to offer my heart with the current you. After all, the Mina now and before are both important to me.
