Assassin's Romance |Book 1| Michaeng ✔️1,986 words~10 min read

Mina is known for being clean with her works but this time she wanted to go berserk and let everyone know she owns her prey. The man in front trembles looking at her stone cold eyes. It speaks death and he knows it. Not even God can spare him.

"Where is she?" the man asked pointing the gun to the girl. Mina tilted her head in a slow intimidating manner.

"Why do I have to answer that?" she smiled. The man flinched seeing the sinister beauty in front of him. It's like death is smiling on him.

"I'll blow your head and find her myself" Before the man could pull the trigger, Mina was fast to move and avoid the bullet. The man continued to fire but  still missed. She's insanely fast almost inhumane.

"Who the fucking moron would hire someone weak as you?" Mina asked when she managed to get on his back without him noticing. Before he can answer to her, Mina kicked his back. So hard that it made a crack. Mina does not know if it's his bones or the concrete, either way she does not care. The gun flew away when the man drop. The assassin smirked, she took the gun and pointed it on his skull.

"Please don't kill me I only follow orders" The blooded man begged, sweating in tubs and almost crying.

"Who ordered you?" She asked.

"It was a girl, a beautiful tall girl." He said. Mina stopped.

"That brat" She sighed.

"Mina?" Chaeyoung decided to get out where she was hiding worried that the girl would really kill the man. What she saw is not what she expected. She saw everything. From the moment Mina kicked him on his back to the point she pointed the gun on him. She barely heard their conversation but one thing she knows is that Mina is not an ordinary woman. She's much stronger, fast and sharp like she has always done that and were so skilled with it. There is something about her that she wanted to know. Chaeyoung felt like she saw the cold sinister eyes before.

"Oh Chaeyoung call the police please" She smiled like those things she did was a peace of cake. In a blink, Chaeyoung wondered how her new assistant could take down a man who's two times bigger than her. She didn't asked though and followed what the girl said.

The police came and arrested the man. Her father came to scene too. The intimidating man came with much worry on his wrinkled face. He immediately hug her with much care as if the smaller girl is a precious glass that would break any moment.

"Princess we really need to hire a bodyguard for you" He worriedly said after they pulled from the hug. Chaeyoung doesn't know what to reply for a moment. Good thing that Mina was beside them that she can change the topic to her.

"Before that, appa this is Mina a college and the one who saved me" She smiled, taking the attention from her to the silent girl. Mr. Son offered the girl a polite smile and looking at her somehow gave him an idea.

"Thank you for saving my daughter. Say how did you take down that big man?" he asked. Chaeyoung's brows twitched. She felt that her father has some plans on him.

"I'm a former bodyguard in CSI Mr. Son" She bowed politely. Chaeyoung saw the twinkle in her father's eyes when Mina mentioned the bodyguard part.

"Really?! you must be reliable then!" He said. Mina smiled on that.

"I won't say this to be boastful but I'm confident in my capability" She grins. Mina knows this will lead on the next thing Chaeyoung's father would say.

"Say would you like another job? Be my daughter's bodyguard and you won't regret doing so" He proudly smiled. Chaeyoung wanted to roll her eyes towards her father's action but she wanted to stay respectful in front of her friend.

"Shall we talk about my pay then?" Mina smiled. If it's about money, she'll be glad to hit two birds with one stone. Her father laughed hearing that from the girl.

"straight forward, I like that. What about a coffee and let's have a talk?" Chaeyoung wanted to smack her father for a moment when he said that.

"Okay sir" She smiled. Her phone suddenly vibrates. She excused herself from the two and made a safe distance for them not to hear.

"For fuck sake what are you planning to do again?" She immediately said knowing already who's calling. Tzuyu could be hear chuckling from the other line. Mina understood the girl's motive in sending the man when she read the message from the tall woman saying one word.. "BODYGUARD"

Tzuyu: Chill out witch-chan.

The nickname made the assassin stop. It was something she wanted to forget. Something she tried to buried years ago.

"Where did you know that?" her voice so cold and empty.

Tzuyu: I found an old news about a girl who masacre an orphanage. Did that click something?

"Tell one more word or you won't see the sun tomorrow" Mina felt the rush of blood. She wanted to scream on the girl for saying something she thought she forgot. The horrors of her past and childhood. The reason why she's the girl she is today.

Tzuyu: Okay okay sorry I just wanted to tell you to accept that offer. I wanted you to get to know my best friend. I already made your papers to be sent to Chaeyoung's father.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked but she knows the tall woman won't give an answer to it.

Tzuyu: Nothing just giving you what you need.

"Fuck that then" before Tzuyu could reply she ended the call. She reminded herself to smile first when she came back to face her new boss.

"Let's talk about it shall we?"

...

Tzuyu watched from far. She sips her coffee in satisfaction and walk away from the scene. She called someone again.

"Unnie why am I playing the villain again?" she sighed. She could feel that the assassin would really kill her if she's not someone close.

"Because you're a convincing one?" the other person replied.

"is that an insult?" she scoff. The other person in line laughed with her questions.

"Take it as a compliment Tzuyu-ah. This is the only thing we can do for them without trespassing and crossing anything" the older person sighed.

"Arasso. See you later unnie" she ended the call and kept the phone in her pocket. What the other girl just said is right. This is the only thing they can repay for someone who saved them. Inhaling the fresh air, she tried to think of possible things. Maybe prayed that the assassin won't really kill the tiger cub.

Well she won't..

...

Chaeyoung just watched as her assistant and father exchange numbers for further contract. Her father seems to have a liking to the japanese girl and was eager to hire her without a doubt. Adding to the happiness of her father is a call from Tzuyu saying she sent Mina's profile from their company to be examined by him. It was like there was never an attempt in her life that happened.

It was six when they finished their talk and her father decided to leave. Mina bowed and sat again after her old man left the shop.

"Did I just got a bodyguard today? What's with the rush?" Chaeyoung slump her shoulders in confusion. Mina giggled which is new for her but nevertheless it makes the girl much beautiful. Did I say I'm gay too? she thought.

"It's for you safety boss" She winked. Chaeng gave her a frown. Okay I like her but what's with the nickname? She thought.

"Don't call me boss that'll be a hell uncomfortable" Mina just shrug and gave her a clueless.

"What should I call you then?" she asked innocently.

"Chaeyoung? the usual please" she deadpan. Mina nodded in agreement.

"Okay Chaeyoungie" she smiled. Chaeyoung does not know what happened but it seems like her assistant changed her approach to her. It's weird since the dark iris of the girl were more darker this time. Is it because she became her bodyguard too? or something just happened? she wondered. Either way she knew it is better than to be awkward with your new appointed bodyguard.

"So Mina did I hear it right that you're going to live with me? you wont right?" she remembered her father blabbering about it just half an hour ago. Mina just gave her an innocent look.

"Chaeyoung-ah it's necessary for your safety" She said.

"But it's not like I'm going to get killed in my sleep" she crossed her arm ready to exchange reasons with the girl.

"But you got almost killed weeks ago" She smiled. Chaeyoung knows she lost the fight on that.

"fine" She sighed in defeat. Her father sure knows what to speak.

"It's not like I'm going to sleep with you Miss, just a room next door" Mina said it as a matter of fact tone. Chaeyoung nodded understanding the situation.

"What else can I do"

...

Mina finally got home after sending her new boss home slash target. She really felt ridiculed by the events and that was because of a certain yoda who seems to know about her past. When she enter their building, she immediately enter the kitchen to drink some water. Momo was there baking something with messy stuffs she used.

"Oh you're back!" she exclaimed. Mina gave her a nod.

"Say want a taste with my new product?" She excitedly show the girl a slice. Mina gave her a cold look before ignoring her.

"Oh I forgot you hate sweets" She chuckled. Mina wanted to smack her friend or something.

"Momoring I want some, can I?" Sana came looking so fresh from bath.

"Sure! say ahhh" Sana opened her mouth and Momo gave her big piece of it. Sana chewed for a moment before she choked. Mina sighed knowing that it was going to happen and handed the girl the water she just drank. When the shiba recovered she gave Mina a wide smile like she was some Godly being who saved her.

"Remind your friend to give you small bites" she said before leaving the two girls. She goes up on her dark room. Something like light does not exist there. She hates it.. it makes her feel good and she does not like that. Not now, she don't want to forget.

She laid on her bed, her mind filled with the events of the past and present. First, she needs money for herself. Second, some tall woman knows her past. Third, she needs to babysit her target which is the fourth that she should kill by now. Why do things has to be complicated when there is such an easy way. She thought. She made it alive doing things on her way. She has the ability to sustain her needs by the skill she gained. Even the exchange is killing a life. It's not that she likes killing, it's just that killing becomes a norm to her.

She don't feel remorse at all. She don't feel fear just the adrenaline and excitement every time blood ooze out from her preys body. She's cold, out of emotions that is why when she kills and felt the excitement, that is when she felt so humane. She might be wearing a smile but a facade is something she mastered to do. Call her a monster as what others said. Call her a witch for her unexplainable strength and skill. But she never wished for it nor she has the right to choose.

After all it's my life... To kill under the shadows without an eye to notice.
