Assassin's Romance |Book 1| Michaeng ✔️2,350 words~12 min read

Morning has finally come, Chaeng  who's still half awake forgot that she is living with someone now and drag herself to cook for breakfast when the smell of fresh cooked bacon welcomed her. She snap her eyes open when she saw Mina already dressed up with and apron and preparing the table. Ah yeah I live with her now.

"Have a sit Chaeng" She smiled and sat on the opposite chair. She must be really getting familiar with me now to use a nickname for me. Well, I don't mind though. It makes things easier and not awkward. She thought.

"I almost forgot that I'm living with someone now" Chaeng sat down and felt genuinely happy to see the appetizing food in front of her.

"Don't stare like that and eat. I'm not a good cook like you but I can cook edible foods you know" Mina sips her coffee and gave Chaeyoung a threatening look like saying don't-tell-me-it's-bad-look. Chaeyoung laughed at the woman not really taking it seriously. Well she's my bodyguard, she can't do anything.

"Nah I'm not staring because of that. I am staring because it looks so delicious" She cheekly smiled and tries the food. "Woah Mina you didn't say you can cook this good"

"Stop exaggerating boss. It's just a bacon and rolled eggs" Mina wanted to smack her victim slash boss for the moment.

"I know but you cooked it so well, not too much not too less" She winked not forgetting to add some flirty tone. Chae laughed again when Mina's expression turned into blank.

"Stop flirting boss, you look like a malfunctioning machine" She deadpan. Chaeng grins finding the company of the girl becoming more comforting and fun. Maybe it's not too bad to have a roommate once in a while. Mina, there is something in her that Chae felt so familiar with.

"Meanie" She pouts playfully. Mina grimaced seeing her pouty face.

"Don't do that" she said.

"The what?" Chaeng pouted more.

"Err that stupid pout" She pointed out. Chaeng acted like she was surprised and hurt.

*gasp* "You just called me stupid? that's really really mean Mina" she cried out. Mina didn't replied and just stared at her. A perfect cold menacing glare. Geez it's scary.

"Fine fine you're no fun Myoui" she chuckled. Mina triumphantly smirked.

"Thank you" she said which earned a confused look from the smaller girl.

"Wait aren't I the boss here?" she asked. Mina gave her a shrug and said.

"So?"

...

Sana is hanging out with her girlfriend on the wide sofa. She has Dahyun's back pressed on her front and silently reading a book. Sana was used to it already. They had found comfort in doing so. It's a usual, Dahyun reading and Sana playing with her hair.

"Babe don't you want to eat something?" She asked out of nowhere.

"What?" Dahyun asked.

"Me" she said that earned an elbow from the brunette.

"Hold your cat unnie. I'm not in the mood for that" The younger one sent her deadly glare. Sana pouted with her girlfriend's refusal. It was just a joke. uhm well maybe a half joke. She thought.

"I'm bored I want to do some-" Before she could finish her words, her phone rings.

"Now you have something to do" Dahyun smiled knowingly to her and continued to read her book. Not even giving her girlfriend a glance. Sana annoyingly answered the phone. Geez, I'm planning to have my time with my wife who is this bitch calling.

"Excuse me but I am bus-"

"What did you say Minatozaki-san?" A woman with a very serious voice echoed from the other line. Sana mentally slap herself for not looking at the caller first.

"Shushō, gomenasai. Why did you call me?" she bite her lips and prayed that the captain won't mind how she answers the phone.

"Tsk. Anyway, Mina wa iru no?" She asked. (Is Mina there?)

"Ie, Doshite?" Sana found it weird why their boss is looking for her friend. (No, why?)

"I need to talk to her"

"Uhm but she's doing her job. She can't be back before she can finish it" she explained. Well isn't she supposed to know that first?. She thought.

"That's the problem. It's about the mission. I wanted her to finish the target immediately" their boss said it with her commanding tone which only means absolute.

"Then why not tell her directly?" she asked.

"I can't or they'll trace her" the serious voice has a little tone of worry mixed with it.

"Aren't they-"

"Sana they're coming here in Korea. We can't stay here for too long." That mere mention of someone makes the bubbly cheerful Sana into a very serious one.

"How much more?" She asked. Dahyun even stopped reading when she heard her girlfriend's serious tone.

"Two months and if will exceed we can't get the hell out of here anymore" Sana sighed in defeat. This is a big problem. Mina might kill me if I'll mendle with her job but who cares. I'll get killed too of not doing so.

"Then I'll tell her personally." Sana ended the call and sigh again with her head thinking of any possibilities. She lowered her head and bury it on the young girl's neck. She inhaled the calming lavender scent of her lover.

"Are you okay?" Dahyun let down her book to give her now disheartened girlfriend her attention.

"They're here Dahyunnie." She snuggled deeper and tightened her hold in Dahyun's waist, bringing her closer. Dahyun knows what she meant by that.

"Hey cheer up. They can't hurt us" Dahyun slowly rubs Sana's hands on her stomach and her other hand to the blonde hair of the girl to sooth her worries away.

"Yeah I won't let them. No one is going to separate us" She said with a muffled voice. Dahyun smiled at her girlfriend. She's still being cute even with this situation. She chuckled.

"I believe you"

...

Jeong is sleeping when she felt a hand caressing her face lightly. She smiled knowing who that person is. Using her hands that's wrapped around the girl's waist, she pulled the warmth in her arms.

"Are you feeling okay now?" She asked softly while still closing her eyes.

"Yeah I have the best doctor who takes care of me" Nayeon replied and snuggle closer to her lover. Jeong proudly smiled on that. Her sweet voice never fail to make her feel things in her tummy. She kissed the woman's crown and slowly inhale her scent. That very addicting scent.

"Smooth talker aren't we?" She teased.

"Only for you" Nayeon giggled and pulled slightly to see her girlfriend's face.

"That, I won't argue" Jeong beamed and Nayeon break through her bunny smile. God I'm so lucky to have this angel. Jeong thought.

"Hey I want to ask you something" Nayeon's smile change into a timid one.

"what is it?"

"If given a situation that I did something terrible in my past and that I haven't tell  you yet. Will you forgive me?" She asked completely throwing a question that makes her lover confused.

"What do you mean?" Jeong got weirded why her girlfriend is acting this way.

"I'm asking if you can accept me as what you did this past seven years?" Nayeon eyed her hopefully.

"Okay.. like what did you do in your past?" she asked.

"Something terrible" She bite her lips.

"Like killing someone?" Jeong squinted her eyes to her girlfriend.

"Y-yeah like that" She stuttered.

"Well I don't know. Why are you even asking this things?" Jeong really don't get her fiance for being so random sometimes.

"Just for my work. I'm making my next novel. So what do you think?" Lie. What a liar I am. Nayeon felt sick and wanting to throw up for lying to her very honest lover. God why am I even hurting this girl.

"Oh you didn't say. Well, I would probably get angry of her for not telling me the truth but I think I would also forgive her if I love her as much as I love you." Jeong knitted her brows thinking of her answer. Nayeon felt guilt creep in her spine.

"Hmm that's true" She smiled, sadly.

"besides, love stories ends up with the main characters being together again. Not all of them but majority of them" She said stating the fact. She stare straight at her fiance again and seeing that the girl is in teary eyes made her panic.

"Hey love why are you sad?" She pulled the girl closer and kissed her forehead.

"Nothing just being emotional" Nayeon chuckled in her chest.

"Geez. this big baby" She giggled and peppered the bunny girl a kiss.

"Jeongie stop" Nayeon can't help but smile to her lover's antics. She's too sweet and damn I'm so lucky.

"That's it! That's the smile I love to see" Jeong beamed seeing her lover is back in herself again.

"whatever love" Nayeon snuggle closer again. Jeong just silently playing with her hair but she broke the silence and said something that would ten times make the girl beside her happy.

"I don't care what happened to you before we met. I will learn to love that or maybe just accept it. After All, if you love someone you must accept their flaws too and learn to love them  more"

...

Mina was busy with Chaeng doing some work. She found it weird how they could talk as if they have known each for a long time. Even her japanese friends didn't talked to her for almost a half a year in their first year of working together. Sure, she made some facades but she's more surprised to herself that the conversation could flow so naturally without her calculating what to say next.

"Mina wanna come with me?" Chaeng asked her at their break time.

"Aren't I supposed to be with you all the time?" Mina give her cheeky smile that earned a pout again from Chaeng.

"Mina, I'm trying to be nice" She pouts.

"I don't get your logic Chaeng. Either you invite me or not I'll still come along" She smirked that made Chaeng rolled her eyes in playfully manner.

"And here I thought my bodyguard is some kind of respectful crap" She scoffed.

"Nah we became friends first right? or do you want that boring bodyguard and boss thing?" Mina gave a weirded look.

"That's why I said it's a crap cause that sucks but I like this more, the platonic friendship is better" Chaeng gave her a thumbs up and wink.

"Stop that dork you really look like a someone who has problems with their eyes" Mina giggled. Which made them both stop.

"Woah that's the most genuine laugh I heard from you" Chaeng gave her a funny proud smile like she's going to cry anytime.

"Are you saying I'm a heartless person?" Mina gave her glare.

"Maybe?" she laughed. It was meant to be a joke but Mina replied like it was the most sincere word she said.

"Maybe I am" With that empty cold eyes again looking deep in her soul. Chaeng felt the chills from that. The smile in her lips was sad but scary. So unlike from the smile she always shows.

"Oh come on it's just a joke" she laughed it off. Mina realize she just let the girl see through her real self and tried to get back to her facade.

"Yeah right whatever boss" She smiled.

...

It has been a week since they got to know each other and each day is them getting closer. It's the second day of them living together too but Chae realized something from being with her all day. Mina is a perfectionist, pretty elegant, has that beautiful smile but her eyes speak differently. Chaeng knows there's something more deep in those orbs. A secret, a dark one maybe. She does not know.

"You're creeping me out" Mina gave her a disgusting look.

"What?" she snap out from her thoughts.

"You are staring at me for almost five minutes now" She deadpan.

"Oh sorry just thinking about something" She tried to brush the thoughts away and focus on the audition. Mina just hum in reply. She doesn't have any idea what the girl is thinking about so she just ignore it.

They're on the studio and the company is having their audition for their trainees. Chaeyoung notice that they have the skills but few has the potential. A talent that they needed for the future. Nayeon, Jihyo, and Jeongyeon is there too. Two hours had passed since they started it. Chaeyoung starts to feel bored until a certain girl comes up.

"What's your name?" Jeongyeon asked. The girl didn't say anything. Chaeyoung wondered if she's mute. She's wearing a black mask and a cap. Mina eyed the girl, something about her irks familiarity.

Before they could ask again the girl flickers her fingers. The light of the studio turns off. Mina immediately got alerted.

"Chaeng stay close to me" She said and hold the girl's wrist.

"What's happening Mina?" Chaeng blinked in confusion, fear and nervousness.

"I don't know but I don't feel good about it" She took Chaeng closer to her. The only source of light they can use is from their phone.

"What the hell the door is locked?" Jeongyeon grunted while trying to open the door. Nayeon is at her side silently praying that everything will be okay. The five of them are the only people inside and the girl that was supposed to be in front before were long gone.

"There's no signal Jeong" Jihyo muttered while looking at her phone. Jeong continued to bang the door but it seems like no one is outside. That's more suspicious as there are supposed to be many of them waiting.

"Good afternoon everyone" A voice coming from the speaker who seems using some filter.

"I am here to play a game. Give me Son Chaeyoung, yes or yes?"
