Pulling his hoodie over his head, Malik walked into the living room where Bruce was waiting for him.
"I'm ready" he said, avoiding eye contact with Bruce as he was still incredibly embarrassed by this mornings incident.
"Alright, let's go then...Malik?"
"Yeah" the boy replied, looking down at his phone
"Do you need to use the toilet before we go?" Bruce asked
"Bloody hell I'm not a baby Bruce!" Malik's face turned pink
"Nobody said you were! I'm just making sure.." The man laughed
"Yeah well I don't need you to make sure I know when I need to go thanks" Malik snarled
"Alright alright go get in the car then"
Bruce decided to make a day out of their shopping trip, taking Malik to get other things he needed or wanted. He saw this as a good way to spend time with the boy. At dinner time they decided to go into one of the little cafes near the sea, and afterwards they went for a walk along the beach.
"Keep hold of that coke bottle Malik, don't be leaving litter on the beach" Bruce instructed
"Alright alright" Malik looked down at the empty bottle in his hand and wondered how he'd drank it so fast without feeling sick. He didn't feel sick at all, but he did feel something else as his ears were filled with the sound of the waves crashing into the sand. He thought about asking Bruce if they could find a toilet, but scratched that idea when he remembered their conversation earlier, and how he told Bruce he wasn't a baby...which he wasn't.
"We'll go back to the car now Malik, it's getting late." Bruce said as he looked at his watch, which read 8:06pm, "almost your bedtime!"
"Are you mad?!! How old do you think I am?" The boys jaw dropped, "I don't need a bedtime."
"I was joking, you're such a baby sometimes"
"A BABY? HOW" Malik was getting frustrated
"Doing that! You know what they're called Malik? TANTRUMS!" Bruce laughed
"Whatever" the boy replied with an eye roll
They got in the car and Bruce began driving home. Malik could feel all the coke he'd drank going straight into his bladder and loosened his seat belt a little bit. After 10 minutes, his need was much stronger, he deeply regretted drinking anything all day. He fidgeted trying to get comfortable in his seat, but nothing worked, there was still pressure on his bladder no matter how he sat.
Bruce noticed the restless boy In the corner of his eye, "you alright there?"
Malik stopped wriggling whilst Bruce was talking to him, "yeah..why wouldn't I be?" He replied, feeling not only embarrassed, but very stupid for not going before they got in the car. Now he debated whether he should tell Bruce or not.
"You're dancing around like you've got ants in your pants, boy"
"Na I'm fine..just tired" He lied
Every speed bump they drove over made Malik's need worse and worse, until it was impossible for him to sit still.
"Bruce...I need the toilet" he told the man
"You'll have to hold it, we've not long got in the car though Malik surely you don't need to go that bad, you can hold it can't you?" Bruce asked concerned
"How long?" Malik fidgeted furiously
"Around..30-40 minutes? Depends on the traffic really-" The man replied
"I really need to go" he interrupted
"There's no services to stop at so I'm not sure what else I can do Malik, you'll have to wait, just try and think about something else"
"I can'tttt" Malik whined, by now he really really had to go, then he saw the empty bottle. "Can't I go in this?" He asked holding it up
"NO, you're not stripping off in my car!" there was absolutely no chance bruce would allow him to do that
"I'll get in the backseat! Pleaseee" the boy begged
"I said no, that's final, now put the bottle back and just hold it it's not much longer now"
Malik groaned and crossed his legs, he knew he wouldn't be able to hold it until they got back, he had to think of something fast.
"Come onnn Bruce I'm bursting please I won't spill a single drop I really really can't wait" Malik whined
"Malik, I said no, if you've got to go that bad then eventually you'll just...go" Bruce did feel sorry for the boy, but at the same time was loving this and maybe hoped a little bit that he would have an accident.
"WHAT? NO! YOU CANT MAKE ME WET MYSELF PLEASE JUST LET ME JUMP OUT I'LL GO BEHIND A TREE PLEASEEE" the boy desperately tried to reason with him.
"That's illegal, Malik, if you can't hold in your urine then your body will eventually just let go by itself."
"Why'd you have to explain it like that" Malik groaned leaning forward and grabbing his crotch tightly
Bruce saw this and laughed, "what do you mean? Like the urine forcing itself to be released from your small bladder?" He teased
"BRUCE! PLEASE" Malik was losing it
"Okay I'm sorry I'm sorry I'll be quiet" Bruce said, still laughing.
"I need a wee so baddd" the boy complained
"What happened to not being a baby? Hm?"
"I'm not!"
"Then shush whining" Bruce teased
"Ok Bruce I'm serious now I can't hold it anymore you've got to stop somewhere or I'm gonna wet the seat" Malik sat up
"I meant what I said before boy, If you really can't wait another 20 minutes you'll just have to go and we'll clean up when we get home. It's the only option" The man told him
"You can't be for real I can't wee in your car, let me out" Malik pulled the door handle to find the door locked "Bruce! Come on man I'm not joking i can't wait"
"Hold it or have an accident, your choice!"
Without thinking, Malik grabbed the empty bottle from the floor and unscrewed the lid.
"MALIK! NO!" Bruce snatched the bottle from him
A wet patch formed on the boys shorts as his liquid began to release "Bruce BRUCE STOP ITS COMING OUT" Malik grabbed his crotch and danced in his seat trying to prevent anymore from exiting him.
"Just let it go Malik you're not gonna make it home, it's okay we'll clean up but if you try and hold it any longer you'll hurt yourself" Bruce said
Malik quit fighting it and turned to face the window - away from Bruce - as tears rolled down his face and a warm puddle formed on his seat. He finished his business and the puddle of wee underneath him soon turned cold and irritated his thighs. He squirmed uncomfortably feeling how soaked he was. Now he couldn't stop the tears forming in his eyes and began sniffling.
"Oh Malik, don't cry it's alright, it happens to the best of us" Bruce only wanted to see him embarrassed, not upset, he felt terrible.
"I'm sorry.." was all the boy could get out
The rest of the car ride home was silent and seemed like forever for Malik. He couldn't wait to get out of his wet shorts which were now sticking to his legs.
Bruce pulled up in the driveway and unlocked the door for Malik. He observed the car seat as the boy got out the car. "Go get in the shower, I'll bring clean pajamas into the bathroom for you in a minute and then I'll sort your bed out, we can clean this tomorrow alright? He patted the boy on the back reassuringly.
Malik ran straight up the stairs and into the bathroom, he was ashamed and disgusted with himself. 'What's wrong with me lately?' He thought, 'No, I'm fine, it won't happen again - last night was just an accident and what happened in the car was completely Bruce's fault...maybe partly my fault too for drinking a lot, but mostly Bruce's fault.'Â He told himself.
After showering and putting his clean pajamas on, Malik went to his room and got into his fresh bedding. He didn't bother saying goodnight to Bruce, purely because he was embarrassed and also annoyed at the man as he believed it was completely his fault.
A few hours later Bruce decided to check on the boy before he headed to bed himself, he poked his head through the door to find him fast asleep.
"Wow, all that crying must've tired him out" he thought to himself as he flicked the light off and closed the door quietly.
