Alice smiled helplessly and walked out.
The two walked down the stairs. The moment they went out, Alice saw a familiar face.
A young woman was standing in the middle of the living room. She was dressed in European style high-end fashion, with long curly hair draped over her shoulders, and a diamond necklace around her fair neck. She had a oval face, big eyes.
Mary.
The biological daughter of her foster father, her former sister.
Alice stood there, her smile frozen in place. She had already forgotten how long it had been since she last saw Mary.
She had a deep grudge against the Clyne Family.
"Who is it?"
William walked in front of her and shot her a disdainful glance.
He had completely forgotten about such a person.
"Sis." Hearing that voice, Mary turned her gaze towards them. There was a hint of happiness in her eyes, but there was also a hint of timidness.
Sister?
William frowned.
"So I'm not mistaken, the person I saw on the street today was you." Alice said coldly, "Why are you here?"
"I..." Mary stood there, hearing her words, she hesitated for a few seconds, before whispering, "Sis, I'm right by Patrick's side."
She spoke with timidity.
She was not as flamboyant as she used to be.
Alice was stunned, Mary actually returned to Patrick's side.
She looked at William, and when William heard about Patrick, he had a ugly face, he took two steps forward and coldly looked at Mary.
"
II William was standing in front of Mary, the aura of him made her feel uncomfortable. "Ah, I remember, you are that actress."
Mary lowered her head even more, "I stopped acting long ago, I haven't worked at all."
Being expelled out of the country by William, the three lived in a strange and poor country, with each day passing like a year.
The moment Mary's voice came out, Alice started to suspect if the person in front of her was the "little sister" she knew.
Mary's submissive appearance made Alice feel that she was stranger.
"Oh, yes, I've instructed them to make sure that your family will live like dogs." William sneered, his tone was extremely cold.
Mary's face was pale. Without a word, she allowed William to humiliate her.
Alice looked at Mary and frowned. She had something to ask in her heart, but she merely said in the end, "Even if you're beside Patrick, he is not here. Why are you here?"
"I only came here because I heard sister had come." Mary said weakly, she moved two steps away and left William's eyesight, raising her eyes to look at Alice, "Sis, I sincerely apologize to you, in this period of time, I have reflected on it, and I know how much my family has let you down, please forgive me."
"Apologize?"
Alice thought she heard wrong.
How could it be possible for Mary to apologize to her?
"Sis, I'm really sorry. I've caused you so much suffering in the past, and I'm really sorry. It's all my fault, I won't do it again." Mary said.
Alice was no longer the type of girl who believed in anything. Hearing what she said, she felt that it was a little ridiculous.
"Is it Patrick who told you to apologize?"
she asked.
To be honest, at this moment, she did not believe that Mary was regretful.
"No, I came myself." Mary looked at her, her eyes were clearly filled with regret and remorse. "If I don't apologize to sister, I won't feel well."
William looked down at Mary, as if he was watching a play, his lips curled up into an evil smile, and walked to the sofa, sat down, crossed his legs, "You're apologizing just like that? Then scram."
William's voice made Mary tremble in fear.
Since the beginning, Mary was afraid of William, the man who had shot her, the man who had destroyed everything she had.
After a long while, Mary slowly walked towards Alice with tears in her eyes.
Alice stood there with the coffee cup in her hand. She didn't understand what she was trying to do, but she didn't retreat either.
Mary continued to walk towards her, until she was right in front of her.
"Bam."
Mary suddenly kneeled in front of her.
"Heh."
William laughed, and sat there and watched the show.
When Mary knelt down and touched Alice's hands, she saw that Alice was still holding the coffee cup. And just like that, half a cup of coffee was poured over Mary's head.
Mary kneeled on the ground.
The coffee drenched Mary's face.
She was embarrassed.
Alice held the cup in her hand and looked at Mary in shock. Before she even opened her mouth, Mary looked up at her and smiled with tears in her eyes, "I know sister hates me. I deserved this."
She didn't do it on purpose.
Alice frowned, she had initially wanted to explain, but seeing that Mary had defined it to be her revenge on purpose, she was too lazy to explain anymore.
"After Mom and Dad and I left, I didn't have any good days. I knew that I had been punished, that I had done so many wrong things. Sis, I really know that I was wrong. Please forgive me." Mary kneeled on the ground and looked at her. Her face was filled with tears and coffee, but she did not wipe them away.
If this was a show, Alice thought, she would definitely be acting the role of the evil elder sister.
"Get up."
Alice's voice became colder and colder.
"If elder sister won't forgive me. I won't get up." Mary choked.
Alice laughed, "Mary, are you threatening me?"
"I'm not trying to threaten you, I just want to show you my determination. I really know my wrongs, I won't dare to do those things again."
Mary choked as she said this. More and more tears flowed out as she reached out to grab her arm.
Alice immediately took a step back, and her gaze landed on her hand that was sprinkled with coffee. Seeing that, Mary weakly retracted her hand, lowered her eyebrows and knelt down, as if she did not want to get up at all.
Alice looked at William, who was sitting there, he was staring at her quietly.
The meaning in those eyes was very clear. If she dared to forgive her just like that, he would definitely brainwash her.
It wasn't that she was afraid that William would be angered, she really didn't want to forgive Mary so easily.
Everything that Mary had done to her, she could still clearly remember, and she could not easily forget about them.
Seeing her walk away, William gave her an appreciative look.
The dim sunlight shone on the island, illuminating the few flowers on the tree.
Beneath the tree, Alice changed into a set of clean and simple clothes. She Held the thin water pipe in one hand and pressed the botton on the water spraying gun in the other, she started to water the trees and flowers.
Beverly stood behind her and checked the growth of the flower, and said, "Although I'm not sure, but I know that your relationship with the Clyne Family is not very good. In the beginning, I did not like Mary, but she would come over almost every day to repent and pray with me."
Alice listened silently.
Unexpectedly, Mary had even been by her mother's side.
"Of course, I still don't like her very much, but I can't say how much I hate her." Beverly looked at Alice and said, "Besides, Patrick told us to take her to him, and on your marriage, our family owed Patrick. After returning to Italy, he kept drinking, and after having Mary, he recovered his composure, so your father and I could only let go."
Mary made Patrick recover?
"Why didn't you tell me these things over the phone?"
Alice asked.
"I was just afraid that you'd be angry. You're not even willing to mention the Clyne Family nor Patrick." Beverly sighed.
"How long has Mary been dating Patrick?"
Alice sprinkled some water on the flowers.
"Two or three months, what kind of relationship is that? Mary is so subservient in front of Patrick, she will do whatever Patrick tells her to, when Patrick's voice is louder, she will be so scared that she's jumping up." Beverly said.
Subservient?
That personality was not Mary's.
"Mother, you have only known Mary for a short period of time." Alice released the water gun's switch, stopped the watering, looked at Beverly and said seriously, "She wasn't like this before, don't ever let her come to the island again."
Who knew what Mary was planning?
"What? Are you afraid that she will hurt me?" Beverly laughed, "She's just a little girl, I heard that she was shot by William, and has been in the backwater country for such a long time, so it's not strange for her character to have changed. I think she has also experienced her hardships and realized her wrongs. When she repents to God, she cries whenever she talks about what happened between her and you. She says that you were very good to her when you were young and that she did not know how to cherish it."
"Mother, you are too kind."
Alice said.
"Alice, I believe she repented. Give her a chance." Beverly said.
Alice stood in front of the flowers, a hint of worry flashed across her eyes. She turned her head to continue sprinkling the water, and took the opportunity to end this topic.
Her mother stayed on the island all year round, and apart from a few banquets, she didn't have much contact with the outside world.
But she had experienced all kinds of things. If it wasn't for the heavens' mercy, she would have been destroyed by Mary long ago. It was easier said than done.
"Besides, take it for Patrick." Beverly said gently, "Patrick is with Mary now. If you still treat Mary coldly, what will Patrick think?" Hearing that, Alice hesitated.
