Seeing his brother, David smiled and said gently: "I thought that you wouldn't go."
"Why not?" William coldly glanced at him, "I have no reason not to go."
"Where's Alice?" David asked. He turned to look at the direction of the ancient castle, but did not see Alice, "She is not coming over?"
"She'll go later."
William said coldly.
"Alright, then let's go." David said with his hand pressing on the door, "I have to go through the process after arriving the villa."
"Are you in a hurry to marry that ugly woman?" William glanced at him.
"She will be your sister-in-law from now on."
David said helplessly as he got into the car.
"Only you can endure such an ugly woman."
William quickly sat in the car as well, looking out the window, his brows knitted slightly.
Alice, you can do it!
Whether or not we can pass this would depend on you.
Time passed, and Alice paced around William's study room alone. There was a bit of nervousness on her small and fair face.
She took a deep breath and squeezed her hand as she muttered something.
She could do it.
Alice was about to leave when she took a step back again. She paced back and forth, gritting her teeth as she bit her lips.
She only had one chance, or else the Cullen Family would be destroyed by her.
Alice continued to breathe deeply and kept thinking about what she was going to say later. Step by step, she walked to the door, opened it, and heard a servant's voice.
"Where is Madam's cloak? Hurry, Madam is already in the car."
Elizabeth already got on the car?
Hearing that, Alice immediately ran out of the castle. She had changed into a dress that she could only hold her skirt as she ran.
Elizabeth stood by the side of the car and waited for her cloak to be served.
Seeing Alice running over, Elizabeth couldn't help but frown. "Why do you still act like this after staying in the Cullen Family for so long?"
There was no trace of nobility.
"Mother, come with me."
Alice stepped forward and grabbed Elizabeth's hand.
"For what?" Elizabeth stared her blankly, "David's engagement ceremony is about to begin. Where are you taking me? Stop."
"You'll know once you come. I've discovered something. You'll definitely want to know about it."
Alice pulled her and ran.
The servant and bodyguard looked at each other, not knowing if they should stop them.
"What did you find?"
Elizabeth was dragged inside by Alice and the hat covered her vision.
"Follow me!" Alice spoke in an anxious tone as she pulled her to run into ancient castle. Elizabeth had lost all of her image because of her, "Alice, it's enough, don't disturb me going to engagement ceremony."
"Follow me."
Alice pulled Elizabeth upstairs.
Elizabeth was pulled all the way to William's study room. Elizabeth stopped and said, "I know that you and William don't want David to get married, but do you think that stopping me would stop the ceremony?"
Hearing that, she looked towards Elizabeth, picked up the diary on the table, and said: "Mother, I saw some things from the diary, so I wanted to apologize to you seriously."
"Apologize?"
Elizabeth was stunned.
What the heck was Alice doing?
"I was wrong when I said that father never loved you." Alice said seriously.
Elizabeth heard that and was startled, "What did you say?"
In reality, she was even more unconvinced than Alice that Master Cullen had fallen in love with her.
Seeing her so confused, Alice pretended to be at a loss and asked, "Mother, what's wrong?"
"What are you talking about? What do you see in the diary?" Elizabeth asked in confusion. She was so excited that she snatched the diary from Alice's hands.
She took off her hat.
"Mother doesn't know?" Alice said, "For the past two days, I have been reading the diary, and only now did I realize that father does not like to talk but to act."
"And then?"
Elizabeth asked seriously.
If not for the fact that Alice heard her monologue that night, Alice didn't even know that she actually cared a lot about Master Cullen's opnion on her.
"I compared father's daily activities before and after he married mother and found that he stayed at home longer than before."
Alice said while quickly flipping through the diary. It was so fast that it made Elizabeth unable to even take her eyes off it, she only stared at her, "Is that it?"
"Also that those flowers that are only blooming at night. Actually, this kind of flower can't grow well here in England." Alice said.
"How is this possible? I've always kept growing these flowers."
Elizabeth said.
Indeed, just as Charles said, Elizabeth only picked the flowers but not paid much attention to the art of growing flowers. This kind of flower was extremely rare, and very few people knew about it, and there were not even a little bit of information about it on the internet.
"It is said that this kind of flower is very difficult to grow, and even more difficult to get it blossom. So, I even got William to help me check it and found that the soil was changed here so that the flower will blossom. "Alice said seriously, "Mother doesn't know?"
Alice's continuous questions made Elizabeth at a loss. Elizabeth shook her head, "I'm not sure, I have never cared about how this flower is grown."
"It's just like I guessed, it was done by father. Father spent so much effort just to blossom a flower, I don't think men love flowers that much." Alice said as she looked at Elizabeth, trying her best to maintain her calmness.
Elizabeth looked at her and said, "The one who first liked this flower was me. When I first saw him back then, there was a fake flower like this by his side."
She always remembered how gorgeous that flower was.
With just a glance, it was engraved into her heart.
With that in mind, Elizabeth pushed Alice away and turned to leave. Alice followed her out.
Elizabeth walked all the way to the garden and stooped down to pick up a handful of soil to examine. A few old gardeners walked over and respectfully lowered their heads, "Madam, do you need anything from us?"
"How do you usually take care of this flowerbed?"
Elizabeth asked.
"It's just taking care of it as usualwatering and fertilizing them." replied the old gardener.
"Nothing added?" Elizabeth asked in confusion, the old gardeners all shook their heads. Elizabeth frowned, but seeing that, Alice hurriedly walked forward and asked, "Then, may I ask, where did the water come from?"
"The water in the garden is different from the drinking water, it was brought here from the river east of Cullen Family." replied the old gardener.
Thirty minutes later, the river was taken to the infirmary to be tested and the result showed that it differed from the water from the river.
This proved that the soil in the flowerbeds is different from others, which is why the flowers bloomed so beautifully.
Elizabeth instantly crumbled as her eyes turned red and she quickly walked out.
Alice stood quietly at the side.
She used her mind to create a story and made Master Cullen into a man with reserved emotions. The rest of the things were done secretly by William in the past two days to make the whole story impeccable.
Even if Elizabeth felt that something was wrong in the future, she wouldn't be able to find it out.
When Alice walked out, she saw Elizabeth standing outside the infirmary with her hands covering her face. Her eyes were so red that it looked like she was about to cry.
Alice walked to stand behind her without saying a word.
"When he said he liked the flower, he had a cold expression. I thought he didn't like it, that it was just a perfunctory act." Elizabeth said.
Master Cullen was indeed a cold blooded person, so cold-blooded that even Alice could not understand.
But she couldn't think of a better way than to lie to Elizabeth.
"Perhaps he just kept his emotions to himself and did not express them. There are many people like him in this world." Alice said while standing there.
Hearing that, Elizabeth's tears fell as she sat down on a chair outside the infirmary.
Alice walked over to her worriedly and handed over a tissue.
After a few seconds of hesitation, Elizabeth reached out and took the tissue and wiped the tears off, then suddenly said, "When I met him, the Cullen Family didn't have its current prosperity, so he seemed to be out of place amongst those noble children. But I felt that he was different from the others, because there was ambition in his eyes, I was attracted and I used all my ways to get closer to him." Elizabeth tried her best to suppress her sobs, but her voice was still out of tune.
This was the first time Elizabeth had ever taken the initiative to tell others about her and Master Cullen's past, and she didn't even reveal this to her two sons.
Alice sat in front of her, quietly listening.
"You're right, it's been decades since I've resented my husband." Elizabeth said, "This marriage made me feel as if I was living on thick ice. It was cold, but I could only stand and endure it. At one point, I thought it was my retribution because I took a fancy to his ambitions, so I put myself in front of him like a financial commodity. Other than that, what is my value to him?" "Father just isn't good at expressing himself." Alice said, "If mother is really just a financial commodity to him, he can have his own private life without you, but other than two sons, there's nothing else in his life, right?"
