Chapter 5 of 8

Chapter 2

Following the number of his papers John found the room he was giving, Inside the room was already someone's bag scattered on one of the beds. John assumed it was his roommate.

A small book of poetry stood half open on the desk, he noticed it as he placed his bag on his desk.

'Hey you must be John.'

John turned to find a brown haired boy he forwarded his hand 'Henry.'

John took in the handshake 'Yes, John. That's me'

'Poetry?' John asked

'Only the best' Henry chuckled 'you?'

John nodded excited that his roommate was into poetry just like him. 'Great we should get together and read it together sometime' Henry jokingly hit John with papers he had rolled together.

Henry left the room yet again making his way down the corridor when ho noticed in one of the rooms another kid in his age fixing something that looked like a fan. Henry walked in the room stopping beside the doorframe.

'Cool tool you got there' Henry said earning Stanley's attention.

'What?'

Henry pointed at the Fan 'Oh this? It is a fan, I made it'

Henry raised his brows walking inside the room to take a closer look at the fan 'cool! Does it work?'

Stanley shrugged 'I don't know what's wrong with it, I have tried everything I can't find why it is not working.'

'Did you try checking the batteries' Said a voice from behind, there stood Noah.

'I am Noah' he smiled at the two boys 'I share a room with Stanley?' he told Henry.

'Oh I am Stanley' Stanley smiled

'I am Henry' henry joined 'I don't share this room. Mine is down the aisle'

'Cool' Noah replied 'So you made this?' he asked.

Stanley nodded putting the small project upside down checking for batteries. Just as Noah guessed one of the batteries were missing. He sighed; one of his sisters for sure took his batteries just to play a prank on him.

'Where I'm I supposed to find batteries now?'

'Let us ask John' Henry said walking out of the room. Both Noah and Stanley followed him 'Who's John?' they asked,

'My roommate' Henry replied entering the room.

'Hey Johnny Boy do you have batteries?' Henry asked skipping his way to the desk beside John.

John looked beside him both ways then turned at his roommate 'I am Johnny boy? Well not sure if I do have batteries-' he saw Stanley with his small Fan in hand 'Hey aren't you the one with the fan?'

Stanley nodded with a wide smile.

'Do you need batteries?'

They all turned to find Dylan standing beside the doorframe with his hat on and a bow tie. Henry laughed at the sight of him 'where did you get that bow tie?'

'It is mine, Gentleman' he replied in most dramatic way possible.

'Drama class?' Noah asked.

'Something like that' Dylan replied with a grin 'I have a radio that works with batteries so I have extra batteries but for what?' they all followed him to his room that he shared with his roommate.

Dylan looked through his small bag, full of all sorts of costumes.

Henry picked up a wig placing it on his head with a laugh he spoke 'you weren't joking about being a drama kid?'

'We act, we do not lie. It is art' Dylan replied.

Each one of them grabbed something that seemed amusing to them, laughing they tried them on.

Fake mustache, hats, wigs, neckless; all the things Dylan had for his drama classes he took them with him to school. Just for passing time.

Stanley plugged the batteries in their place in his fan and it finally worked as if was supposed to. He exclaimed in excitement showing his project to his new friends.

'IT WORKS!' Henry cheered.

Inside all the tools John saw a poetry book that he picked up; Dylan smith, written on the book, it belonged to his new friend Dylan.

Later that afternoon they were given a small tour by the senior students. The only place John was excited to reach was the school library; his father had informed him about the infamous library.

All said; John wasn't disappointed by the Library.

It had all the books he dreamed of reading once he got into the school, which is happening now he couldn't stop grinning at the books. He came to the realization that he wasn't the only one that seemed excited to be in the library; Henry had a twinkle in his eyes as he walked beside all those poetry books.

Meanwhile Dylan asked the host student if there are any plays by Shakespeare available in the library.

Earning a laugh from the elder student and who told Dylan that he might find almost all the plays by Shakespeare here.

Dylan reads Shakespeare? John thought in much excitement.

'Even Walt Whitman?' Henry asked out of nowhere, the host student nodded.

John saw the smile Henry gave at that answer.

During lunch time John decided to sit down with Henry; it wasn't easy to find him in the crowded hall. After a minute of searching John saw Henry sitting in the end of the table fully focused on a book in his hands.

John made his way towards his roommate sitting his tray down on the table; Henry didn't even notice that someone sat beside him until John called on him.

'Hey' John said.

'Hey, yourself' Henry replied putting his book on side for a moment.

Came in Dylan with apple in his hands and a book on the other 'Seat taken?' he pointed at the seat beside Henry 'Join in!' Henry told him.

'Sweet' Dylan sat down starting to read his book.

John's unspoken words cut short when the other two boys; Noah, and Stanley walked towards the table asking if they can join them in the table since all the other seats were taken.

John smiled at them as they both took their seat. Henry looked from his book at Dylan 'Are you reading Walt Whitman?' he asked.

Dylan nodded not taking his eyes of the book however when he did, he realized that Henry was reading the same book.

'Do we all like reading about dead poets?' John joked and they all laughed.

'I know I do' Dylan replied 'I am an actor but poetry speaks to me'

Henry chuckled 'God I haven't known many of my friends that read Poetry, they find it-'

'Boring?' John joined in. earning a grin from Henry 'yeah? Don't tell me you've been told the same?'

Henry placed his book on the side and inhaled 'Raise your hand if you like reading poetry'

They all raised their hands except Stanley. They all turned their head to gaze at him; slowly he rose his eyes from his chemistry book 'what?' he asked.

'Do you want to be part of our group?' Dylan whispered.

'Why are you whispering?' Stanley whispered back. Dylan shrugged 'I don't know.'

Stanley grinned with his hand reached to his shoulders level 'I am in?'

'Sweet' Henry laughed.

They boys decided to spend the first evening together in Henry and John's room talking about their schedule, books, poems and Stanley even joined in to tell them about his new projects that he planned on building. They would've talked much if it wasn't for their schooling them to get back to their rooms therefore it was the end of the night and getting much later.

After promising to speak further about everything next day they all went to bed except for John.

He stayed up a bit staring at the dark room ceiling thinking about building a society that no one ever did before him, an idea that he always thought of having work on, making a brotherhood, a club that was only their own.

He promised to tell his friends the moment he comes up with a name for it, luckily for him they all have most of their classes together for this year's semester.

Making it easy for them to be in the same group of friends.

All together John was fascinated by his new friends...

Henry a poet...

Dylan an actor...

Noah a writer...

Stanley a creator...

Not very much different than other but to John they seemed like the perfect group of friends that he could imagine of making in his first day in Welton Academy.
