Chapter 92 of 94

(#88) The END

Rebirth : Rise of the Phoenix1,237 words~7 min read

The smoke from the Lydia army was a confident one. Confident that it would burn its enemies and rise forward.

But why would a small country's even smaller army have this much confidence?

And somehow I felt like I was about to know the answer.

All the soldiers of different houses, including the House Commanders and Major Commander, were ready on one side of Scarves.

Bewilderment filled in the atmosphere so much, that it felt like we were breathing in some too.

But on the other side, it was a very playful atmosphere. Soldiers were drinking as if they had already won the battle.

Confidence is one thing. But if they keep on drinking, will they be able to charge?

No.

Then will we let our guard down?

Yes.

Then is there a chance that an entirely different army will replace this and fight us?

Yes.

But which? Only that question remains.

"What do you think, Lady Aesther, or should I call you Aesther House Commander?" A voice startled me and brought me from my thoughts.

"Pardon?" I asked, and turned as I saw Commander Ruenti staring intensely at my face.

"It looked like you were deep in thought. And from your line of sight, you were looking at the Lydia soldiers. So I wanted to ask your thoughts on their actions." Commander Ruenti said.

"I fell like... I am looking at a play happening in front of my eyes." I said.

Commander Ruenti didn't say anything.

"Then shall we settle down properly and discuss with ease?" Commander Ruenti asked.

"Then that shall be playing into them," I said.

Then another voice came through and asked a question that none of us dared to.

"Well, Commander Ruenti, has there ever been a situation where the alliance was broken?" It was Lindon.

I just didn't look back at him. Commander Ruenti did and offered a small bow.

"What do you think, Aesther House Commander?" Lindon asked.

"I feel that within a moment... the situation will change around," I said.

And as if the heavens were playing with my words, a sound of horn-filled cried filled Scarves.

Then, everything was quick.

"ON YOUR HORSES, SOLDIERS! THE BATTLE HAS BEGUN." Commander Ruenti shouted on top of his voice.

In that frantic moment, everyone rushed to their horses.

After getting on our horses and had formed the formation, the sight in front of us was completely different.

The playful and lazy army was replaced by a more powerful, dominating army, which only seemed to lack the order given to them to charge forward and tear the enemy into pieces.

And then, they served it too.

"CHARGE!!!" The enemy commander gave the order, and they began to charge.

As they got near, everything became clear.

It was not the Lydia army anymore.

It was the Gelna army.

Then, we didn't waste any more time.

"CHARGE!!!" Commander Ruenti gave the command, and an antagonistic, bloodthirsty atmosphere filled the battle-ground.

Sounds of metal hitting against another filled the ears.

And as I scanned around, I saw the one whom I hoped I wouldn't see.

Kyle.

Kyle Lian.

He seemed like he was a machine that would kill anything in its way.

And it was.

Soldiers around him fell like felled tree trunks. And it wasn't just Avalon armies.

Even if the Gelna army's soldier accidentally get near him, he would slash him down too.

Just like a machine. No eyes. No heart.

But it felt like he was approaching something.

As I followed his line of sight, I finally saw whom he was targeting.

Lindon.

Was this entire drama for killing him, starting from the beginning?

He even sacrificed his sister for this bloody drama.

He is not the Kyle I once knew.

But that didn't matter, did it?

And as I looked around me, it felt like I was a ghost.

The Gelna army soldiers acted as if they didn't even see me.

Seems like Kyle had made his plans earlier than we thought.

And then I drew my sword and started fighting like a soldier.

My one eye on this enemy ad my other eye would simultaneously go-between Kyle and Lindon.

It went for some time, till I spotted both of them in one sight.

I then took care of the soldier I had on my end and rushed to Lindon.

Kyle raised his sword and aimed it against Lindon, who was not paying attention in that direction.

Then everything went sudden and stopped suddenly.

The sword that was supposed to stab Lindon's body, pierced through mine.

And then, the whole scenario came to a stop.

"Ana!" I could hear the whispers of both the men around me, as I fell onto Lindon's lap.

"That... that wasn't on purpose Ana, I swear, I didn't do it on purpose," Kyle said.

"I know, Kyle. But this has to stop, please." I said, with extreme pain as I felt the blood flowing away from my body.

"Lindon," I said and kept my head on his chest.

"Ana." His voice was very small.

"I have thought about it, Lindon. You heard me telling that my first love and my love all this while had bee you to a person, and I came out with Caylin.

But in reality, I was saying that to my Father who was in the same room as me.

And many more situations you had seen me with Caylin.

But let me tell you, Lindon. Caylin is homosexual. That is why I am always around him. Because he would never see me as a woman.

But Lindon, why didn't you ever talk with me.

If you had, we could have resolved it in a better way, laugh at your foolishness by drinking wine.

Now look what this has turned into? A bloody war that affects two, no, three kingdoms." I said.

My breathing started to become hard.

I could feel my soul slowly making its way out of my body.

And all Lindon did was crying softly.

"And yes, one more thing," I said and took his hands and placed it on my abdomen.

He looked at me with confusion-filled eyes.

"Yes. This is where our child is, and where our child is going to die." I said.

"Why... why didn't you tell me?" He asked, with a broken voice.

"I tried to tell you. But you always pushed me away." I said.

"I... I am sorry." He said.

"I love you..." I said and raised my hands for rubbing his cheek, but apparently, it could only go halfway, and it fell down, lifeless.

And at that moment, I smiled.

Even though I died in this life too, only I died.

I met a lot of amazing people, who made my journey worthy.

And I met Lindon, who taught me what love is.

And I could feel the taste of the wine I had the other day with Belle.

The last sensation, before, my body went limp.
