Chapter 7 of 27

Drowning Now; Ships

Gentle Reminders of You138 words~1 min read

You reach your fingers down my throat

Tearing through skin and bone

Ripping at my voice

Until I am silent

And alone

As particles of water in a vast ocean

I drift

;

You call your ships of war: Beauties

Comparing them to women of the land

You name them as your lovers

Yet you leave these lovers with rings on their hand

And babies swollen in their bellies

Fending for themselves

Until they fall back to the sea in despair

Praying that you will love them hidden from the sun's glare

Unlike how you did standing

On the bow of your ship

Your new lover

Named after her yet adored more

With sleek sides

And pure innocent sails

You call this ship your lover and you sail off to sea

Away from your lover

Away from me
