Chapter 101
After the parentâteacher conference, Melanie headed back home.
Before leaving, she pulled Loid aside and reminded him, âMr. Everton said that with parents and the school cooperating, Lily can achieve good grades. Iâve already arranged for the SAT practice test to be sent to Anmer Heights. Iâm entrusting this to you.â
Melanie parted Loid on the shoulder. âSon, Iâm giving you an opportunity. You need to put in extra effort so you donât drive away my daughterâinâlaw.â
Loid pinched his brow, feeling somewhat speechless. But he didnât say anything. Focusing on Lilyâs studies seemed like a good plan, but Loid wasnât sure if she would be willing to
cooperate.
After Melanie left, Loid and the others got ready to leave too.
Shaun and Daniel also came, but they didnât go into the classroom. They wanted to roam around Ember Creek High School to reminisce about their high school days.
Loid:
I gave Shaun and the others a call. Soon, they arrived, and they all went back together.
On the road, Loid leaned against the window with a slight smile, looking at Lily. âYour teacher thinks highly of you,â he said, in a good mood.
Lily turned to him, raising an eyebrow
âSo, my mom wants me to supervise your study. Practice tests have been sent to Anmer Heights, one for each day,â Lold said, his smile growing.
Lily, expressionless, looked at Loid briefly and said, âDo you have nothing better to do?â
âThis is for your own good,â Loid replied calmly, adjusting his position.
Lily conceded, saying nothing
Shaun leaned back in his seat and jokingly asked, âLily, can you share some tips for scoring 20 points?â
Lily leaned back in her chair lazily and asked, âWhy?â
âjust wondering, how can someone be so stupid? With a total score of 750, you only scored 20 points,â sham said, touching his earlobe. âYouâre a girl with a personality. At least try to get a few more points.â
time, Iâll alm for 21 points.â
Lily nodded thoughtfully and said, âYouâre right. Next time, I
Loid and Shaun were both rendered speechless by her comment, Shaun wanted to pry open her mind and see what she was thinking, but he didnât have the guts to do so. âYouâre a smart girl. Why do you always act foolishly at critical moments? Why canât you be like your sister? She keeps bothering you every other day, flaunting her academic achievements in front of you. Why not excel to prove youâre capable too?â
Shaun genuinely worried for Lily. The children in Martinezâs family were all troublemakers. They always bothered Lily for no reason. If Shaun were younger, heâd surely teach them a lesson
âIâm not interested,â Lily said lightly.
âYouâ¦â Shaun was about to say something in response when Lilyâs phone rang.
She answered the call and heard Anyaâs urgent voice on the other end. âLily, Poppy is about to jump into the river. I canât stop her. Please come and help!â
Lilyâs pupils contracted, and her voice turned cold. âGive me the addressâ)
âSapphire Flow,â Anya reported the address before hanging up.
Loid was close to Lily and heard the phone call. His expression turned cold. âDaniel, Sapphire Flow.â
Daniel acknowledged and accelerated the car. Lily clenched her fist tightly, her expression unusually cold, radiating a chilling aura.
After a few minutes, they were still in the city.
Lilyâs eyes narrowed. âStop the carlâ
Daniel obediently stopped. Lily got out of the car and walked to the driverâs seat, opening the door.
âSit in the back!â
Daniel glanced at Loid. Seeing him remain silent, he obediently moved to the back seat.
