Shaunâs tone quickly turned into panic. He glanced at Lily, and seeing she was still asleep, he let out a sigh of relief. However, his voice was noticeably quieter. âDidnât we place an order with Alchos? What did they say?â âThey rejected us,â Loid replied while leaning against the seat. He was in a very bad state. It seemed as if he might pass out at any moment. Shaun frowned, his expression growing serious. âYou offered a hundred million dollars, and K still wouldnât take the case?â After some thought, he added, âLetâs increase the offer. We have to get Shadowbane to treat your illness no matter what. Thatâs whatâs important. If a hundred million dollars isnât enough, then offer 200 million dollars. âIf they still refuse, let them name their price. Iâll get the money for you even if it costs everything.â âItâs not about the money,â Daniel said, giving Shaun a serious look. âAlchos simply said K refused to take the order. Alchos wouldâve told me directly if it was about the money.â âThis is troublesome,â Shaun said, rubbing his temples in frustration. If it were just about money, there wouldnât be an issue. Loid was a trillionaire. Even if Loid didnât have enough money, he still had Shaun and Daniel. Shaun couldnât believe Kâs demands could be so high as to require billions of dollars. They were merely asking for someoneâs contact. Alchos would never allow K to ask for so much. After all, Alchos had never sold information for more than 200 million dollars. However, many had paid astronomical sums for Shadowbaneâs treatments. The situation would be much trickier if money wasnât the issue. âLetâs head back,â Loid said. He glanced at Lily, who was still quietly sleeping beside him. Shaun wanted to say something but decided against it. After all, Lily was present. Even though she couldnât understand these complicated matters since she was from the countryside, it was better to be cautious. When the car stopped at the estate, Lily removed the cap covering her face and put it back on her head. She turned her head and was momentarily stunned. Then, she smiled. Rumor had it that Loidâs face was disfigured due to a severe illness, but seeing him now, those rumors were clearly unfounded. At this moment, she could see Loidâs well-defined features. He had a sharp nose, a pair of deep-set eyes, and thin lips. His face was perfectly sculpted. âYouâre awake?â Loid asked gently when he saw Lily wake up. Lily responded with a casual hum, opened the car door, and nonchalantly added, âYouâre quite handsome.â Loid was taken aback. Was she complimenting his looks? He had clearly seen the teasing glint in her eyes. Evidently, his appearance didnât impress her much. Shaun exclaimed, âDamn! Lily, youâre amazing! Youâre the first person Iâve seen who can stay so calm after seeing Loidâs face.â He was excited as if he had discovered something extraordinary. Lily glanced at him with obvious disdain. âYouâre annoying.â âIâ¦â Shaun was stunned and wide-eyed, speechless for a moment. Someone actually found him annoying. Loid gave Shaun a blank look. âYouâre indeed very annoying.â âIâ¦â Shaun was flabbergasted. He turned to Daniel and asked, âAm I really that annoying?â Daniel nodded without hesitation. âYes.â Shaunâs face turned pale with anger. He was itching to hit someone but unable to do so. He didnât dare hit Loid. He couldnât win a fight against Daniel either. As for Lily, he could handle her, but now that she was Loidâs fiancée, he didnât dare to make a move. Loid led Lily inside. As soon as they entered, Loid took off his coat and then his turtleneck. When he removed his clothes, Lily stared at his body, her cold eyes narrowing with an icy expression. Shaun and Daniel stood beside Lily, watching her reaction. But her expression left them baffled. She barely reacted. They found it hard to believe that she wasnât scared. Any other girl would probably faint from fright upon seeing Loidâs body. Even Shaun and Daniel had been shocked when they first saw him. While putting on his clothes, Loid was also watching Lily and was surprised by her reaction. âAre you scared?â Upon hearing this, Lily lifted her gaze and met Loidâs eyes for a moment before looking away. A lazy smile tugged at her lips. âNice body.â There was nothing in this world that could scare her. She was merely studying the tumors on Loidâs body. She didnât know about his lower body, but his upper body was covered in tumors, some of which were already festering. It was very disgusting. His entire torso looked damaged. Loid had to be mentally strong. Anyone else would have been scared to death by these tumors. All of them were speechless. Shaun seriously wondered if there was something wrong with Lily. She called this horrific sight a nice body. She must have a very different understanding of that word. Loid froze for a moment and smiled. âIâve had a room prepared for you. Get some rest, and Iâll take you for a walk around the area later.â âOkay.â It was Lilyâs first time in Lagersfield, and she wasnât familiar with the place. She should get to know the area since she would be staying for a long time. Daniel offered to carry Lilyâs suitcase when heading upstairs, but she refused. She reached the staircase, paused, and then looked back at Loid. âYou have at most two months to live. You should take the pill I gave you.â With that, Lily turned and went upstairs without looking back. When getting out of the car, Lily had deliberately held Loidâs hand to check his pulse. After seeing his body, she realized that he wasnât sick; he was poisoned. Only Shadowbane could cure him. The three men downstairs were frozen in place after hearing Lilyâs words. Loid watched Lilyâs retreating figure, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint. âLoid, I swear I didnât leak the information about you only having two months left,â Daniel said, breaking out in a cold sweat. Shaun quickly added, âNeither did I.â The rumor was that Loid had two years to live. In reality, he only had two months. Loid wasnât merely the eldest son of the Laurier family. Many peopleâs fates depended on him. If he died, people would take revenge against anyone connected to him. Hence, Loid had them spread the rumor that he had two years left to ensure he could arrange everything in the final two months. But how did Lily know? Loid was supposed to marry Shannon, yet now Lily was the one who married him. What was her purpose? There was a cold glint in Shaunâs eyes. He wouldnât let anyone who intended to harm Loid go unpunished, even if it was a teenager. Loid looked away, took out the pill Lily had given him, and ordered after a long pause, âDaniel, get some water.â His voice was dry, and he clutched the pill tightly. Danielâs expression changed dramatically. âLoid, you canât take this! Lilyâs identity is questionable. We canât trust her.â Shaun also frowned. âThis girl is too strange. We should investigate her first.â âGet the water,â Loid said again, his expression cold and expressionless. âLoidâ¦â Daniel tried to persuade him, but a single glance from Loid silenced him. He obediently went to fetch water. Loid didnât hesitate and swallowed the pill with the water. As soon as the pill was ingested, Loid felt like his body was on fire. Sweat soaked through his clothes instantly. He raised his hand and tore off his clothes. Shaun began to panic. He was about to call for help when he saw Loidâs body, and his eyes widened in shock. âLoid, your bodyâ¦â
