Chapter 136
Lily did not press further. Daniel then drove her back to Anmer Heights. The journey took some time, so Lily closed her eyes for a moment.
After a while, the car suddenly jerked to a stop Taken by surprise, Lily jolted forward, almost hitting the seat in front of her. Thankfully, she regained her balance quickly.
She frowned. But before she could say anything, Daniel said gravely, âWe ran into some trouble, Ms. Brooks. Stay in the car. Donât come out.â
Only then did Lily notice that the car was surrounded by a group of people who were all holding metal pipes. She narrowed her eyes but stayed put as Daniel had told her to
Even though sheâd never seen Daniel fight before, she knew that he wasnât weak. He should be able to stand his ground against these ruffians.
From the car, she watched as Daniel exchanged a few words with the group before the lighting started.
Daniel was good. However⦠Not far away, several vans sped over. Suddenly, another bigger group of ruffians rushed toward them.
Danielâs expression changed. He retreated to the car and said in a panic, âMs. Brooks, take the car and leave now. Iâll take care of these peopleâ
Lily drummed her fingers against the chair for a few moments. Then, she opened the door and got out of the car.
Daniel panicked. âMs. Brooks, what are you doing? just leave! We canât tight all of these people!â
He knew Lily could fight better than him. But, even so, she was only one person. They wouldnât be able to fight so many people at once.
Lily shot him a cold look. âGet backâ
Daniel refused to listen to her. He stood in front of her, shielding her as best as he could.

The large group of men soon arrived. Their leader stared at Lily for a few moments. Once he was sure that he had the right person, he smiled. âYou werenât easy to corner, you know.â
Before this, Loid was always by Lilyâs side, so they couldnât do anything to her. When their spy told them that Loid was absent today, they took the opportunity and sent out everyone.
It was a little bit extra to send so many people after a high schooler, but they couldnât defy orders.
Lily stuck her hands into her pocket. Her cold expression looked sinister under the streetlamps. With her head lowered, her cap obscured most of her line of sight
âWho sent you?â
âYou donât need to know that. All you need to know is that someone wants to teach you a lesson!â the leader of the group said.
âA word of advice: just stand still and donât fight back. Itâll be easier to just get this over with otherwise, you wonât want to know what will happen next.â
âDid the Maynards send you?â Lily ignored his threats.
The leader paused. His face contorted with rage. âGet her!â he snapped at his men.
Lily smiled. âLooks like I got it right,â
She took off her cap and handed it to Daniel. âHold this for me.â
Anyone who knew her well would know that her taking off her cap meant that she was really angry.
Like an arrow released from a bow, Lily rushed toward the men. She was so fast that her figure blurred.
Daniel couldnât even see her movements clearly. All he heard were screams, and the men began falling one by one. He widened his eyes as he watched the impossible scene untold before him
Was he dreaming? Lily had incapacitated more than a hundred people in just under ten minutes. They didnât even get the chance to react
âFuck!â the leader howled âIâve underestimated you. Youâre good at fighting, but youâre still doomed!â
He pulled out a gun and pointed in at Lily.
Daniel was shocked. âMs. Brooks! Lookout!â
