Chapter 177
The Martinez family left.
The atmosphere at the banquet was ruined. Melanie felt that it was unnecessary to continue. It was also getting late, so she announced the end of the banquet.
Melanie and Stefan went to see the guests off while Lily saw her classmates off. Melanie arranged transportation for all of them to be driven back to their dormitories and homes respectively.
After Lily bid all the students from Class 15 goodbye, the Lauriers had just seen off the last group of guests too. Melanie noticed Lily standing alone by the roadside and walked over to her. Tonightâs events were unexpected, and she was worried Lily might be upset.
Suddenly, a black car turned the comer and sped down the road, quickly knocking over several cars. Lily fixed her gaze on the car, and her expression turned into shock when she saw it was heading toward Melanir.
She quieldy ran toward Melanie, shouting, âGet out of the way!â
Loid and Shaun, who had just exited the hotel, witnessed the scene. Both of them tensed up and hurried over.
Yet, they were still a step too late.
Melanie heard Lilyâs voice and looked up in shock. Before she could react, the collision threw her about 30 feet away. The car didnât stop, it quickly switched directions and disappeared from sight.
The guests who were in their cars but had not left yet all alighted their vehicles to check on the situation. Instantly, it became crowded in front of the hotel
Loid exuded an air of iciness as he approached, dialing a number as he did. âSend someone over Block all exits in Lagersfield Get an ambulance, and contact Neil
Then, he got into his car and started the engine. The kry sports car shot off like an arrow into the dark night
shan ignored him and ran to Melanieâs side. He was about to pick her up when a low growl sounded from behind him. âDonât touch her!â
The air around Lily felt oppressive and suffocating
She squatted before Melanie and placed several silver needles on a few of her acupoints. Her movements were fast and accurate.
Then she stood up and instructed Shaun, âTell Neil not to remove these silver needles and perform the surgery firstâ
After saying that, she leaped up and used the roots of several cars as her stepping stones to get out of there. She disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Shaun and Daniel were already accustomed to Lilyâs astonishing actions, but the other people were stunned. As Melanieâs life was in danger, no one cared about these things. They all came forward to check Melanieâs condition.
Shaun was annoyed by these people who kept bothering them. He shouted, âGet the hell out of here!â
The crowd dispersed, but no one left. They retreated a Ettle but still formed a circle around them.
Soon, an ambulance arrived. Nell pushed open the car door and walked over to Shaun. He checked Melanieâs pulse first and said with urgency, âQuick. We need to take her to the hospital.â
Neil hadnât attended the banquet tonight because he happened to have a patient to attend to. He had just finished when he received Loidâs call. Without delay, he rushed over as quickly as he could.
Shaun glanced at him and angrily asked, âWhy did you come so late?
âThere was an accident on the way hereâ Neilâs expression was serious. âI drove here myself.â
Shaun smiled in a sinister way. âWellâplayed. They injured Mrs. Laurier and stopped the ambulance from coming over. They clearly want her dead! Do they seriously think Iâd let
them oft?â
With that, Shaun took out his phone. âUse all means necessary to find a car with this beense plate number!â
He told the other party on the phone the plate number he remembered. When the car knocked into Melanie, Shaun glanced at the license plate number and rushed over to help. He had a good memory, so he remembered it at a glance,
After hanging up, Sham swore frestily, âWhoever it is, Iâll make sure they suffer like hell
