Chapter 193
Lilyâs hands were in her pockets. Her gaze was cold, and she had an annoyed expression on her face. She was in a very bad mood.
People close to her would know that she was about to get very angry.
âWho do you think you are? How dare you ask me to move?â Yolanda stood up slowly and looked at her angrily. âYou have no right to make demands here.â
âIf she doesnât have that right, who does?â Loid stood up and walked over to face Yolanda.
He stared at her expressionlessly and said, âWhy donât you tell me if this is the Laurier Residence or the Albott Residence?â
Yolandaâs expression changed. âLoid, thatâs not what I meant!â
âReally?â Loid glanced at her. Then, he turned around to hold Lilyâs hands.
He said nonchalantly, âIâd better be mistaken because this household is not going to be under the Albott familyâs control anytime soon.â
As soon as he said that, Yolandaâs and Joanneâs faces stiffened simultaneously. Noraâs expression was also quite sullen.
Loid didnât pay them any mind. He pulled Lily over to a chair and sat down. He said gently, âYou can relax. Youâre the future daughterâinâlaw of the Laurier family and the mistress of my household.â
Lily raised her head to look at Loid for a bit. Then, she withdrew her gaze and started to play with her phone emotionlessly.
The Lauriers were disgusted by her actions. Arthur was still present. How could she play with her phone like that? That was so disrespectful of her.
Arthur wasnât offended at all. In fact, he had a bright smile on his face. He had heard Stefan talk about Lily before. He spoke very highly of her. Looking at her, Arthur confirmed
that she was indeed one of a kind.
At least, her freeâspirited and carefree nature was something no one in the Laurier family possessed.
âA while ago, Loid hosted a banquet in Lagersfield I wasnât able to attend because I was unwell. Iâve decided to host another banquet in a couple of days.
âWe can take the chance to announce to the world that Loid has been healed. Weâll announce Lilyâs identity too, which should stop other people from trying to pursue Loid,â Arthur said slowly after he picked up the cup of tea poured out by the housekeeper and took a sip.
Although he was old, his eyes were still very sharp. He could tell what everyone in the family was thinking with a glance.
He quietly withdrew his gaze and began sipping on his tea slowly.
âDad, I think we should consider our options more carefully,â Loidâs uncle, Marvin Laurier, said as he leaned back on his chair. He had quite a commanding presence.
He added expressionlessly, âWe arranged a marriage for Loid before because of his illness. We just wanted him to have joy in his life.
âNow that he is completely cured, thereâs no need to go through with that marriage anymore. Luckily, theyâre just engaged. It doesnât really change anything. Weâll offer Lily compensation and put this engagement behind us.â
Nora quickly chimed in, âMarvin is right. Loid is the successor that you personally named. His fiancée has to be an outstanding individual to be worthy of him. This woman isâ¦â
Nora looked at Lily and said mockingly, âHer family background aside, her grades and history of starting fights are enough for us to deem her unworthy of becoming the daughter -inâlaw of our family.â
Then, someone else added, âIâve always been opposed to the idea of Loid finding her wife this way. Now that everyone knows his fiancée is a worthless country bumpkin, our reputation is already damaged.
âI think a marriage with the Albott family is the best option. We practically watched Yolanda grow up and know her very well. An engagement between her and Loid is the best-
case scenario.â
Lily, who was playing with her phone, raised her head. Her eyes were narrowed. She looked at Loid and saw the anger on his face. He looked like he was about to explode at any moment.
She frowned and put her phone back into her pocket. Then, she looked at Loid and said, âItâs too noisy here. Why donât we go outside for a walk?â
Her voice was very loud and crisp. Everyone in the root heard what she said. They instantly stopped talking and glanced at Lily in surprise.
Lily ignored all of them as she stared at Loid.
Loidâs expression softened as he looked at her. He smiled warmly and said, âSure. Let me show you around the house.â
Lily nodded. Then, she stood up with Loid.
