Chapter 206
âWhat happened?â
?â Loid furrowed his brows. He looked troubled.
âWe were so close to getting him, but a genius hacker removed his coordinates. Our men were no match for that hackerâs skis. And thatâs how Venom got away.â Shaun looked remorseful and indignant. âFuck! We canât get anything on him now. If I find out about the hacker, I teach them both a lesson!â
Lily looked up. She stole a knowing glance at Shaun
Shaun turned around after sensing the icy glare on him, only to find Lold looking at Lily. He suddenly questioned what he just felt.
Loid looked away from Lily and sank into deep thought. Moments later, he said, âLook for him at Alchos.â
Lily froze. Then, she looked up at him. Sensing her gaze, he turned. âWhatâs wrong?â
âNothing,â she replied calmly as she looked away.
Loid took a few glances at her, but he eventually said nothing.
âA cunning man like him wouldnât hide at Alchos, would he? Itâs like walking into a trapâ It never occurred to Shaun that Venom would be at Alchos.
âTell me, where else can he go in Bridgeport other than Alchos? There was a chilling gleam in Loidâs eyes.
Shuddering, Shaun dodged his gaze. âRight, Venom wonât run around Bridgeport because itâs our hurt. Alchos is the safest place for him. But how do we get Alchos to turn him in?â
Shaun rubbed his temples. âElliot will never allow us to arrest Venom because Venom is from Alchos. Itâs unwise to cross Elliot because we need Alchosâ help for intel.â
âElliot wonât burn Venom over. Taking a sip of water, Loid stated calmly, âI didnât ask you to arrest Venom at Alchos. Just confirm that heâs there.â
Shaun immediately got the hint. Smiling, he concurred, âGood idea. Venom canât hide in Akchos forever. Iâll visit Akchos tomorrow.â
âMmhmâ Loid, head tilted, nocked Lily staring palely at her phone.
Placing a hand on her shoulder, he whispered, âWhatâs on your mind?â
Snapping back to reality, Lily pursed her lips. âDidnât you mention about a patient in Bridgeport? Why donât we visit the patient tonight?â
âIâm afraid we canât.â Looking serious, he analyzed, âI wasnât being careful enough. I thought your medical skills should be known to the world, that itâll be good for your career progression. But I forgot that you and I are different. Your medical skills will only bring you trouble.â
Caressing her head, he said dotingly, âI know you donât need my protection, but I wouldnât want to see you in trouble.â
Lily stared at him wordlessly
âWe attracted a lot of attention on our trip to Bridgeport. Itâs not the best time for you to take on patients. Iâll arrange for the patient to visit you once weâre back in Lagersfield,â be offered cautiously, worried that she might be angry at him.
She shrugged but did not seem furious. âOkay. Iâm going to miss out on the money. Thatâs allâ
Smiling, he joked, âShall lend you some money? I promise itâll be more than enough.â
All the important figures would show up at the auction hosted by the Weiss family tomorrow. Redashil might be a useless item for the plebeians, but it was highly coveted by the Hidden Families and the great families,
With the Four Great Families of Bridgeport and the Hidden Families joining the game, Lily might not stand a chance of winning the bid for Redushil with her current wealth. Despite that, she had always tried to solve her problems without asking Loid for help.
If Loid guessed correctly, Lily had probably gathered money from Aeston and the underground forces. Still, she probably needed to make money urgently because the amount she possessed wasnât sufficient to bid for Redshal
âDoes it come with interest?â she teased him back with a bratty smile.
