Chapter 22

As soon as the words fell, Loid almost laughed out loud. His eyes lit up with amusement.
Melanie also remained stunned for a while, then she smiled and said, âAlright then, weâll let her stay
Shannen looked at Lily in rage. She almost lost control and nearly cursed. She was a dignified elite from the Martinez family. How dare they treat her like a maid?
Shannon looked down, and there was a malicious glint in her eyes, but she still maintained a smile.
âDonât worry, Mrs. Laurier Iâll definitelytake good care of Mr. Laurier and Lily.â
Melanie ignored her. It was only at this moment that she remembered Loid. She turned to look at him and couldnât help but exclaim at the sight.
âoh, Loid, your body. Youâre cured?â Melanie wanted to ask about the tumors but thought otherwise since Lily and Shannon were present
Loid was speechless. He raised his hand and glanced at his watch. Melanie had been here for half an hour and only remembered to pay him attention now.
âMhm,â Loid replied indifferently. As soon as he answered, Shannon widened her eyes. What did that mean? Was Loidâs disease cured? Did that mean he wouldnât die?
Shannon was about to go mad. She was so frustrated by her foolishness.
âReally?â Melanie stood up in excitement. âLetâs go upstairs.â
She wanted to find out what was going on. They had put a lot of effort into curing Cold but to no avail. How did he suddenly get better?
Loid didnât say anything and followed Melanie upstairs. After they went upstairs, Shannon withdrew her smiling face and glared at Lily with malice.
She spat, âWho do you think you are? How dare you order me around? Donât forget, youâre just a bastard child that Mom gave up. Donât think you can step on me because youâre engaged to Loidâ
âSo what?â Lily lazily leaned back on the couch and tilted her head back. With a raised eyebrow, she looked at Shannon with a mocking gaze.
âGrandma said you donât need to marry into the Laurier family anymore. You should tell Loid to cancel the engagement.â
Shannon gritted her teeth, her face filled with hatred.
She almost lost her mind. She had the perfect fiancé but gave him up because she believed the groundless rumors. She believed that Loid wasnât cured because he was never sick in the first place. It was all a test for the Martinez family
However, the Martinez family failed the test, and so did she. She handed over Loidon a silver platter to Lily. She felt like she was going to faint.
Hearing this, Lily suddenly laughed. She narrowed her eyes and asked, âWhat if I refuse?â
âRefuse?â Shannon sneered, âI think I donât need to remind you that the Martinez family is paying for your grandmaâs medical expenses. We brought you here and admitted your grandma into the hospital because you were useful. Now that youâre not, you can leaveâ
Shannon looked at Lily blankly and continued, âBut since youâre my halfâsister, Iâll consider giving you some money when you leave. You should bear the consequences if you refuse. Your grandma may lose the chance to receive treatment because of your stupidity.â
Lily suddenly stood up, stepped closer to Shannon, and grabbed her neck
Her expression was dark when she threatened, âYou must be tired of livingâ
She was so fast Shannon didnât see her mo Lily had already gripped her by the neck when she came back to her senses.
Shannon was startled by Lilyâs appearance, and her body trembled.
Lily stared at her icily, then released her grip. She threw Shannon to the ground.
âTell the Martinez family Iâll break the legs of whoever uses my grandma against me.
Lily had never been a softâhearted person. She wouldnât let someone who insulted her go easily.
