Susan glared at Lily fiercely as she spoke. She had never mentioned cutting ties. It was Lily who claimed she was done with the Martinez family.

Despite her bury, she was aware that Loid had not only taken her words to heart but even sent Shannon and Lily back She knew her priority was to appease him. If Loid was serious about breaking off the engagement. Susan knew full well that her life in Martinez Residence would become a living hell.

“Who told you I was breaking off the engagement? Loid asked, his gaze meeting Julia’s with an unreadable expression.

Julia was taken aback. After a moment of realization, she sighed in reliet and said, “I must’ve misunderstood your intentions.”

“Indeed, you have,” Loid replied as he stood up. His tall figure was elongated by the room’s light. A steely glint entered his eyes as he continued, “In consequence of the Martinez family cutting ties with Lily, I’ll be withdrawing my investment”

Julia staggered, nearly losing her balance.

“Loid withdraws the investment, the Martinez family will be finished,” she thought.

“Laid, you can’t do this! Withdrawing your investment will ruin the Martinez family!”

Panic seized the Martinez family members, their voices laced with urgency as they pleaded, “Loid, please reconsider. Your investment is very important to us.”

Loid took Lily’s hand and led her out, completely ignoring them.

Shaun and Daniel rose and followed close behind.

Seeing Loid’s unwavering stance, Julla grew frantic. Her voice was trembling with rage as she slapped Susan across the face. “You bastard! Who gave you permission to cut ties with Lily without my consent? Who runs this household, you or me? Go apologize to Lily immediately!!!

“Mother, I..” Susan clutched her check, her eyes welling up with tears of injustice.

The thought of apologizing once more to Lily, that wretch, made her stomach churn. Where was her dignity supposed to go in this ridiculous situation?

Besides, she had never said she wanted to cut ties with Lil Kicking Lily out without any backup plan wouldn’t be something even she would do in her foolishness.

“What’s the matter with you? Don’t you understand? Lily is one of us! Apologize to her immediately, or get out!” Julia’s emotions grew more agitated as she watched Loid walk toward the door.

She had struggled hard to achieve her current relationship with the Laurier family, and she was determined not to let it be ruined because of Lily. At this point, she would desperately have Susan kneel down and apologize to Lily as long as that was what it took

Hearing this, Susan couldn’t care less about her pride anymore. She rushed out to chase after Lily. “I was wrong! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to cut ties with you. Please forgive me and have Loid let this matter go.”

Susan wasn’t particularly arrogant. Everything she possessed came from the Martinez family. If the Martinez family kicked her out, she’d be left with nothing.

Susan knew she had to apologize to Lily and swallowed her pride.

Lily had her hands in her pockets and her head hung low. Her face was covered by her cap, making it impossible to discern her expression.

She lifted her head slightly. Her voice barely a whisper, she said, “It’s me. I want to cut ties with you.”

Susan froze. After along silence, she forced a smile. She said, “Silly child, what nonsense are you talking about? I’m your mother. We’re bound by blood. That’s an unbreakable bond. How can you just cut ties like that?”

Susan tried to maintain her composure with a smile. She pleaded, “Don’t be angry anymore. I’ll make it up to you, and I promise to take good care of your grandmother too.
