Chapter 49
Shannon glanced at the girl, confused by her expression. Still, she nodded.
âYou donât know? At noon, your sister crippled Jack in the cafeteria. She fractured Alexis hand too. They say that Jack is in the hospital and that the doctors said his leg is irreparable.â
shannon was stunned. Indeed, she did not know about that,
A faint smile appeared on her face, but she hid it so well that no one noticed,

With her head lowered, she let out a small sigh. âSheâs been brought up in a village since she was a child. Sheâd always skip school and get into fights. Sheâs not the easiest p to be around. Given her temper, thereâs no telling what kind of big trouble sheâll get herself into.â
Shannon was certain Lily would pay a price for offending Jack despite having Lold to back her up
Jackâs family held a high social status as well. She doubted Loid would clash with the Dalton family for a fiancée he hadnât known for long. Once Loid started to resent Lily, Shannon would get her chance.
A shortâhaired girl patted Shannonâs shoulder, âQuit worrying about her. It doesnât seem like she treats you as her sister. Why cause yourself unnecessary distress?â
âThatâs right. Since she offended Jack, it wonât end well for her. Itâs a good thing for her to be taught a lesson. She should also be aware that youâre the one whoâs the Martinez familyâs heir,â another girl advised her.
Shannon looked down and said softly, âDonât say that. After all, sheâs still my sister.â
After school, Lily gave Anya her personal phone number. She also told Anya to call her if she needed anything
Anya merely nodded and didnât say anything else.
Lily knew that even if anything happened, Anya wouldnât call her. So, she approached lan.
âHelp me out.â It didnât seem like she was asking for help at all, considering her brash attitude.
Regardless, tan was excited. âAs long as itâs within my capacity, Iâll gladly help you.â
H
Lily had reproved tan at noon. Since then, he had been telling down. For the entire afternoon, Lily had not spoken a word to him, so he assumed she was fed up with him. He never imagined she would ask him for help.
âDo you know anyone in the dorms? Lily asked casually.
All students enjoyed forming cliques. It was especially true for those at Ember Creek. Though tan couldnât beat jack, he still had his connections.
Lan nodded. âYA.â
âHelp me keep an eye on Anya. If anyone gives her trouble, tell me.â Lily gave tan her phone number.
Lan nodded enthusiastically, âYouâve got it!â
After a beat, he asked, âBy the way, why are you so nice to Anya? This is the first time youâve met, right? Why are you so eager to protect her?â
Lily flashed a smile. âTake a guess.â
Her smile was as brilliant as the sun. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
was dazed for a while. When he finally snapped out of his stupor, Lily had already walked away.
He hurried to catch up with her. Walking beside Lily, he said, âTo be honest with you, youâre quite peculiar. Itâs obvious from the way youâre dressed that youâre not from the city. But you operate like a hidden big shot.â
Lily had been looking at her phone. Hearing that, she raised her head, glanced at him, and then returned to her phone.
lan kept talking, âBut I like your personality. Youâre not afraid to mess with Jack, and I admire you for that. How about you become my boss?â
Leisurely, Lily answered, âIâm not interested.â
âNo! You are interestedâ Ian fixed her a particularly serious expression.
Lily was speechless. Ian reminded her of shaun
tan was not as prideful as Shaun. He ignored the fact that Lily looked at him he was an idiot.
âYou want to protect Anya, donât you? Be my boss. Weâll rule over Ember Creek. Then even if youâre no longer here, no one would dare to mess with your people.â âYouâre rightâ Lily put her phone away absentâmindedly.
