RAINEY

“I had a chat with Ansel’s folks and thanked them for being so kind to you. They’re good people.

“I tried to give them some money for their kindness, but they wouldn’t take it. They seem to really like you.”

I manage a small smile as my dad pats my head and plants a gentle kiss on my forehead. He’s about to head off to a villa he’s rented in Scheme One of Crossview Close.

He’s not leaving the country for a few more days, and when he does, he’ll be taking me and Riley back to Dubai with him.

He wanted us to stay at the villa tonight, but I told him I wanted to spend as much time as I could with the brothers. He promised he’d be close by and would drop in tomorrow.

“Are you sure you don’t want to come? They’ve got an outdoor pool and a jacuzzi. You girls could even hit the bar or something. Not every dad lets his daughter drink. Or get tattoos.”

He taps my nose lightly, chuckling to lighten the mood.

I smile, shaking my head. “I want to spend more time with them, since we’ll be leaving soon.”

He nods, understanding. “They’re a fun bunch. I can see why you like them so much.” He looks sorry for a moment, then lets out a sharp breath. “I’m really sorry, Rain. I just can’t—”

“It’s okay. I get it. I understand. Just let me have the weekend with them. I’ll go to Dubai with you when it’s time.”

He pulls me into a hug, a worried line between his brows. “I love you, Rainey.”

I close my eyes. “I love you too, Dad.”

He sighs as I pull away, pulling his phone from his pocket to check the time.

“It’s eight o’clock now. Go inside. It’s chilly out here. I have to get up early tomorrow to go to the police station. There’s a lot to sort out.”

The night air bites at my face as I nod. He kisses my cheek before stepping through the gates. “Call me if you need anything, princess.”

“Okay, Dad.”

He nods to Marco, who quickly comes over to me and hands me a piece of paper. I look at him, puzzled, before unfolding the note. It’s a string of numbers with his name scrawled underneath.

“Give it to the brothers. They’re cool. I’d love to be friends.”

I smile brightly. “Sure, I will.”

There’s no doubt that the King brothers have a way of winning over even the most stubborn hearts. They really are one in a million.

Marco gives me a friendly smile before heading over to the van and sliding into the driver’s seat. The horn honks as they pull away from the gates, and I wave weakly as they disappear from sight.

I take a deep breath, looking up at the night sky. I’m really going to miss this place.

***

Ansel and I are sitting on his bed in silence. His gaze is distant and sad, like he’s got a lot on his mind.

The quiet is painful, because it lets my mind race with thoughts of leaving.

I clear my throat, looking down at my legs tucked under me. “You didn’t say anything.”

He turns away from the bathroom door he’d been staring at and looks at me. “About what?”

I sigh. “About me leaving. Everyone else was objecting, but you were strangely quiet.”

While my dad was talking about taking me back to Dubai, I noticed that Ansel kept his head down. He didn’t say a word, and it makes me wonder why.

Why isn’t he fighting for me to stay?

His face falls, and he looks away from me. “I just think…it’s for the best.”

~What?~

I narrow my eyes at his answer, and he runs a hand through his hair. “You’ll be safe with him.”

I let out a soft breath, looking down at the floor as my heart sinks. ~Wow.~

I swallow. “Is that all you have to say?”

He takes a breath, turning to look at me. “What else am I supposed to say, Rain?”

~Ouch.~

I look at him, and he looks away. My eyes start to fill with tears as I bite my lip.

It shouldn’t be this easy for him to let me go. He should at least fight against it, make me feel like this is bothering him as much as it’s bothering me.

“Maybe you could say, ‘Don’t leave. Stay with me’?”

He shakes his head, refusing to meet my tear-filled eyes. “I can’t—I can’t say that.”

“Why not?”

“You should just go, Rainey. That’s what’s best.”

~Is Ansel really saying this to me right now?~

I shake my head, laughing in disbelief. “I’m in way deeper.” I stand up from the bed, hand on my head, and Ansel looks at me, confused.

“What do you mean by that?”

“I feel like I’m way more attached to you than you are to me.” I turn to face him, wrapping my arms around myself. “I…probably love you a lot more than you love me.”

Pain flashes across his face, and he stands up from the bed. “Rainey, that’s not it—”

“Then tell me to stay.” My voice is desperate, fragile. I look up at the ceiling. “Just, please…at least tell me to stay, Ansel.”

“I can’t do that. I think you’ll be safer with your dad. You should go. I’ll stay here and deal with Ron Moretto.”

My mind instantly goes back to the words he said the other night.

~“I will protect you from Ron Moretto. Even if it means dying in the process.”~

I shake my head, firm in my resolve. “No.”

“What do you mean, no?”

“I can’t just abandon you to deal with Ron Moretto. This is my fight too.” I tap my chest for emphasis.

“Rainey, it’s my fight as well. Ron’s done a lot to our family, and he’s not just targeting you because of Kendra.

“He knows you matter to us, to me, and he wants to tear down everything connected to our family. I think it’s best if you leave.”

A tear slips down my cheek, and I lean against his door, hiding my face in my hands.

His familiar, clean scent fills the air as he steps closer, trying to lift my face, but I pull away.

“I love you, Rainey,” he murmurs.

“If you love me, then let me fight this with you.” My voice is muffled by my hands. “Let me stay with you if you love me.”

Ansel sighs. “I want you here, but I can’t let you stay.”

A soft sob escapes me, and I bite my lip, pressing my hand against my tear-filled eyes. Ansel’s face softens, and he tries to pull my hands away.

“Rainey…”

“I’m okay.”

“Please look at me.”

“Just go, Ansel.”

“I can’t do that.” He takes a deep breath. “It kills me to see you like this.”

Seeing that I won’t remove my hands, Ansel tries a different approach.

He lifts me by my waist, and instinctively, my legs wrap around him while my fingers tangle in his hair, revealing my tear-filled, heartbroken eyes.

His hands support me, and he looks up at me, his blue eyes filled with love and concern.

“I love you so much, Rain,” he whispers, each word sincere and heartfelt. “I love you like crazy. And I don’t want you to get hurt. I couldn’t live with myself.

“I can’t lose you. You mean everything to me.”

I fight back more tears, and he lifts me higher, his forehead creased with worry. “Do you believe me?”

How could I not? It’s all there in his eyes.

“Yes…” I sniffle. “I do.”

He tries to smile, then carries me to his bed, gently laying me down while he hovers above me.

“I hate seeing you cry.” He wipes my eyes with his hand. “I need you to trust me, Rain. Everything will be okay, and we’ll both be fine, okay?”

I nod, wiping my tear-streaked cheeks. He takes my hand in his and presses it to his lips, closing his eyes.

When he opens them again, the desire and passion in his eyes have intensified.

Our fingers intertwined, he presses my hand above my head as he leans in. His lips brush against mine, his jaw tensing as I catch my breath.

I lift my head, my eyes meeting his, silently begging him to kiss me. Taking the hint, he presses his lips to mine.

The kiss is slow and gentle, stirring a deep longing within us. His mouth parts my trembling lips, his hot, urgent tongue exploring as he gently cradles my jaw.

It feels like my soul is being laid bare. Every sweep of his tongue, every nip of my lower lip feels like I’m floating on a cloud, my feet no longer touching the ground.

It’s as if I’m being pulled away from reality and into a blissful world of euphoria.

As his lips play with mine, his hand leaves my jaw and trails lower to gently caress my hip.

Sliding beneath my shirt, he strokes my bare waist, his lips leaving mine to nip at the sensitive skin of my neck.

I tilt my head back, my eyes closing as his lips suck and gently bite my skin, leaving it tender and flushed.

He pulls back to look at me, and I meet his gaze. His eyes burn into mine with a hunger. I swallow hard.

“Do you want to?” he whispers, and my cheeks flush at the implication of his words. My heart races as I take a deep breath and nod.

“Yes.”

“Are you sure?” He starts to unbutton my sleeveless shirt.

“I’m sure.” My throat is dry, and adrenaline courses through my veins.

He undoes my button with one hand, and I watch his fingers work. The simple action heightens my anticipation for what’s to come.

He keeps his eyes on me as he removes my shirt, my bra following soon after. I lie half-naked under his gaze as he takes in the sight of me.

He cups one of my breasts, and his lips find mine again as he rolls my hardened nipple between his fingers.

Arousal surges through me, and I bite my lip. He kisses down to my chest, taking one of my breasts into his mouth, nipping and kissing it as he strokes the other.

He tugs at my nipple, grazing it with his teeth before kissing the flushed skin around it.

He sits up quickly, kneeling on the bed. In one swift motion, he pulls his shirt over his head and tosses it aside.

He runs a hand through his hair, his muscular chest now on display, adorned only by his silver necklace.

His defined pecs are bold and commanding, and I can’t tear my eyes away as he hooks his fingers into the waistband of my shorts. Kissing my bare stomach, he pulls them down along with my underwear.

The cool air from his window hits my exposed legs, and a wave of insecurity washes over me.

The thought of Ansel seeing me like this makes me nervous.

My feet are flat on the bed, my knees bent. Biting my lip, I press my thighs together.

Ansel smiles at this, his hands resting on my knees as his eyes shine with admiration.

“It’s okay. I love every inch of you, Rain.”

I try to relax, puffing out my cheeks and looking up at the ceiling.

~Focus on the ceiling cracks, Rain. The cracks.~

But that doesn’t help. My eyelashes flutter anxiously as he gently parts my thighs, his gaze settling on the intimate area between my legs.

Now that I’m exposed to his scrutiny, I close my eyes in apprehension. There’s a soft, open-mouthed kiss on my knee, his lips cool and moist against my skin.

“You’re so perfect, Rain. So flawless.”

I feel his fingertips start to explore my entrance, and I gasp involuntarily, clutching his duvet in my hands.

I squeeze my eyes shut as he starts to stroke me back and forth. Slow. Rhythmic. His touch is barely there, but the desire within me starts to spiral out of control.

He presses his lips to the inside of my thigh, his fingers continuing their sweet pattern as he watches me. Teasing me. Playing with me. Until I have no choice but to squirm against the sheets.

I bite my lip to suppress a moan.

His thumb finds the sensitive spot at the top of my sex, and he gently rubs it, sending a jolt of pleasure through my entire body.

A moan escapes, and waves of pleasure pulse through me as my legs jerk in response.

With a gentle push, he slips a finger inside me, then another, causing me to exhale sharply as I arch my legs.

He strokes me slowly a few times before he bends one of his fingers inside at that intensely pleasurable spot.

I gasp, propping myself up on my elbows. I stare at him with wide, bewildered eyes and parted lips as he gazes back at me, mesmerizing.

The last time he did that, I felt like my soul was leaving my body. Now, this time, the sensation is ten times stronger.

He moves his finger in small circles there, and I hold my breath. This feels so…strange. ~Wonderfully~ strange.

“Ah, wh-where are you…touching?” I pant, and Ansel places a kiss on the inside of my thigh.

“It’s your G-spot, Rain.”

He applies more pressure, and I collapse against his pillows, my chest heaving in short breaths. I close my eyes tightly, a knot forming in my stomach.

“Do you like it?” he asks, and I nod my head rapidly, my breathing becoming dangerously erratic.

“Yes…it’s just…”

“Just what?”

“So…overwhelming.”

Overwhelming is an understatement.

He quickens his movements, and I feel like I’m soaring through the stars. Trembling. Shaking. Whimpering. “Ansel.”

“Cum for me, Rain.” He moves up to kiss me, his fingers still moving expertly against me, in and out, occasionally circling the sensitive spot at the top.

I clutch onto his bicep, my body shaking uncontrollably. I’m unable to kiss him back, my mind in a haze, and Ansel just kisses my open mouth as he increases the pressure.

My eyes flutter shut as a wave of pleasure ripples through my body, leaving me gasping and panting and repeating his name like a mantra.

He muffles my loud moans with a deep kiss as I bask in the afterglow, unable to open my eyes because of the intensity.

I feel him move away from me, and I open my heavy eyes to see him standing at the edge of the bed.

With his intense gaze on me, he hooks his fingers under the hem of his shorts and pulls them down. I blush even more as I watch him steadily.

He’s now only wearing black Calvin Klein boxers, his thighs smooth and firm as he steps out of his shorts.

The evidence of his arousal is undeniable and bold, and fear instantly wells within me.

He pulls down the last of his clothing, and the sight of his bare manhood makes me catch my breath.

~Oh.~

~God.~

I realize that what I’d told Riley was correct, and anxiety courses through me.

Seeing the fear in my eyes, Ansel joins me back on the bed, lowering his body onto mine and pressing a kiss to my forehead.

“I won’t hurt you,” he promises.

I smile a little, nodding my head.

He reaches over to his drawer and pulls out the top section, retrieving a square, shiny packet. He tears it open with his teeth, and I watch him nervously as he pulls out the creamy rubber.

Meeting my terrified gaze, he uses a hand to support his weight above me before dropping his gaze to slide the condom onto his length.

His hair tickles my face, and the cool feel of his necklace grazes my chest.

I’m breathing unevenly and erratically as he raises his head to look me in the eyes. His gaze is heart-melting, causing a knot to form in my stomach.

“I love you so much, Rain.”

My eyes sting with tears at the sincerity in his voice. “I love you too.”

His lips curl up in a smile as he settles between my legs. The unfamiliar feel of his arousal brushing against my inner thighs makes me shudder as he positions himself at my entrance.

My chest rises in a breath, and Ansel sees my apprehension.

“It might hurt, but tell me if you want me to stop, okay?”

“Okay.” I puff out my cheeks.

“Kiss me.” He presses his lips onto mine, perhaps to offer some form of distraction. He continues to kiss me passionately, then with a firm yet somehow gentle movement, he eases his length into me.

I gasp, our mouths breaking apart as a sharp pain shoots through my pelvis. It feels like something inside me has been torn, and my body shakes from the impact.

Ansel hushes me, kissing me on the lips. “Did I hurt you?”

I shake my head, tears pricking at the corners of my eyes. I glance down between us, realizing that he’s not yet all the way in.

“Do you want us to stop?”

“No…” I manage to say. “It—it doesn’t hurt that much.”

Those words are lies. I’ve never experienced anything this painful in my entire life. It’s just as painful as the myths said. But I don’t want him to stop. I want him. All of him.

His lower lip is caught between his teeth, beads of sweat racing down his forehead and onto his chest. He is glowing under the dim room light, his eyes swirling like a storm.

Ansel pushes deeper into me, my body straining to accommodate him. I bite my lip, and he hums softly, his eyes closing as he tilts his head back.

“You okay?” he whispers, and I nod. He bends down to kiss me again, moving gently and slowly, giving me time to adjust.

He kisses my forehead, my nose, and then the tears pooling at the corners of my eyes. His rhythm is steady and passionate, and I feel the discomfort slowly ebbing away.

With his hips gently rolling against mine, our breathing syncs. Ansel’s eyes are locked on mine, his fingers tracing a path from my neck to my chest as he moves with me.

Desire builds within me, and I find myself lifting my hips to meet his. It starts to feel incredibly good, and my legs spread wider of their own accord as I surrender myself to him.

He holds my gaze, and small gasps escape my lips with each firm thrust. I notice how he bites his lip each time he enters me, and how his jaw tightens every time he pulls back.

Watching him is intoxicating, pushing me closer to the edge.

“Don’t ever say that again.” He presses his forehead against mine, his pace quickening. “Don’t ever say that I don’t love you as much as you love me.”

I can only moan in response as my head rolls back, my nails digging into his arms. His hips meet mine with firm thrusts as he grips my chin, forcing me to look into his hazy eyes.

“Promise me.”

“I—I promise,” I gasp out, our grunts and moans filling the room.

He moves against me, slick and hot, sweat glistening on his flawless skin. There’s a slight sting, but the pleasure far outweighs it.

This is surreal. The way he’s making me feel is otherworldly. I feel like we’re merging, like our souls are intertwining.

He buries his face in the crook of my neck, his breath ragged against my skin. If I had any doubts about my feelings for him before, this moment erases them.

My heart is overflowing, bursting with emotions. Ansel is touching my soul, taking me to a place I’ll never be able to return from.

He goes deeper, one hand cradling my jaw while the other presses into his bed. I moan loudly, wrapping my thighs around him, pulling him closer.

Our movements are instinctive now as we lose ourselves in each other. He’s driving into me relentlessly, kissing me hard, and I claw at his back, feeling my climax approaching.

My lips part, and he rests his forehead against mine, our breaths mingling.

The pleasure intensifies, and I bury my head in his damp neck, my body trembling as if I have a fever.

“A-Ansel.” My voice is muffled against his skin, and he places his hand under my head, holding me to him as he thrusts into me.

“I love you, Rain. God, I love you so much,” he breathes out.

I whimper against him, my tears mixing with the sweat on his skin.

“You know that, right?” He says this between breaths, and I nod, our bodies moving in sync.

Higher and higher. I’m almost there, and so is he, his movements becoming more urgent.

Ansel delivers a powerful thrust that sends me spiraling into a sea of intense pleasure. I cry out into his chest, my body shaking as he holds me tight.

He pulls my head from his neck and crashes his lips onto mine, his pace quickening until he groans into my mouth, his body tensing as he shudders inside me.

His movements gradually slow, until he stops completely, collapsing on top of me, sweat dripping from his hair.

I can hear his heart pounding, my eyes squeezed shut as my body relaxes in small tremors.

My heart is undoubtedly his now. I’ll never be able to return from where he just took me.

Ansel exhales, then pulls out of me, and I wince at the loss of contact, a slight sting returning between my legs.

He disposes of the used condom while my eyes fill with tears, not from the pain but from the overwhelming emotions for him.

~I love him so much, and I don’t want to leave.~

A soft sob catches his attention, and his brows furrow in concern.

“Hey…you all right?” He moves closer to me, worry etched on his face. His hair is damp, and his body is still slick with sweat. “Why are you crying? Did I hurt you?”

I shake my head, covering my face with my hand.

“Then what is it, mm?” He pulls me into his arms, kissing my forehead. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing,” I mumble. “I just love you…a lot.”

His gaze softens, and he smiles, a hint of sadness in his eyes. “I love you too, Rain. We’ll be all right. Don’t worry about it, okay?”

I nod, and he pulls me closer to his firm chest. I wrap my arms around him and close my eyes tightly.

I wish time could stop here. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, and I’m unsure if we’ll have a happy ending.

But all I know is that he’s my whole world, and I love him with every part of me.
