Liam and I tried to fall asleep in our separate rooms, but by 3:30 I went back to his room and we both passed out on his bed. The only way we could sleep is if we were in the same room so we knew each other were okay.
The next morning we told everyone why we saw on the dead pool the night before. Scott assumed that I would show up on it like Liam did but he was shocked about how Derek wasn't there anymore, and that Liam's price was raised.
When we also told Scott about how I produced a flame by snapping, he literally grabbed me and pulled us all into an empty classroom so I could demonstrate. Stiles flipped when he saw the flame. It was actually kinda funny, but I wanted to know what else I could do.
That night we went to Deaton and he told us that he doesn't know anything else than what he told us already.
"But how am I supposed to learn?" I ask him.
"The same way Lydia does," he replies. "By trying your best."

Now that I'm on the dead pool and I can't protect myself, (according to Scott and Liam even though I can make fire come from my fingertips) Scott has ordered that I should stick close to someone else in the pack. That's why I'm in Kira's car on the way home from the mall where we decided to just have a nice night out instead of just hanging out in my house. Liam was busy with a study group for his Biology class. I'm not with him since I'm in the honors class.
I assume Stiles or Malia told Kira about me kissing Brett because that was one of the first things she asked me on our way to the mall.
"I don't want to talk about it," I told her, staring out the window with my jaw set.
"Well, you'll want to talk about it some time, and I'm here when you want to," she replied. I just nodded and she changed the subject.
Now, on the way home, it's pouring outside. Rain pounds against the windshield as Kira focuses intently on the road because of the low visibility. My head rest against the window as I chat to Kira about music until I feel my phone vibrate.
I look down to see "Brett" on the screen next to the incoming call symbol. I purse my lips and tuck my phone under my leg, ignoring it.
"Who is it?" Kira asks me.
"Brett," I say stiffly.
She shoots me a quick glance. "Why don't you answer?"
"I don't want to talk to him," I reply.
That was a complete and total lie. You see the thing is, after Liam and I talked thing over I've started to realize that I do have feelings for Brett.
I'll admit it. I like Brett.
But I know I shouldn't. I still can't forgive him about the things he did to Liam even though Liam says that he doesn't care that much anymore.
The call goes to voicemail, and I sigh. A few seconds later, my phone rings again. I look at it to see Brett's name again and frown even more deeply.
Why would he call me twice?
Without thinking, I pick it up.
"Brett?" I say hesitantly into the phone.
"Oh thank god," Brett breathes. "I thought you weren't going to pick up.
There is commotion on Brett's end as if he's running or moving around a lot.
"Why did you call?" I ask him.
"I need Scott," he says quickly. "There's hunters. Everywhere. They're after us; Lori and I."
"Your sister?" I ask him.
"Yes," he replies. "Please, can Scott help us? I just want Lori to be safe."
His tone is pleading. He's desperate. He needs help: Scott's help. That's the reason he called. I can't help but feel a bit saddened, but my feelings aren't important right now. Two innocent people are about to be murdered for money.
I suddenly hear him shout. "Lori!" There are scrabbling noises on the other end and I hear yells and a growl probably from Brett.
I look over to Kira who keeps shooting me glances. "Brett!" I say, loudly into the phone. "Brett! Where are you?"
There's a few seconds where l I hear is shuffling noises until I hear Brett's voice gasp, "we're at the school. Beacon Hills. Please!" Then the phone goes dead and I swear loudly and colorfully.
"We need to get to the high school," I tell Kira. "Brett and his sister are being chased by hunters. Quick."
Kira speeds up and makes a quick turn towards the high school. "Lily grab my sword. It's on the floor in the back."
I reach my hand back feeling around until I touch a cool metal object. I grab the katana and pull it into the front seat.
We make it to the school in record timing and keep our eyes peeled for any movement. I scan the building and surrounding grounds until I spot two masses running towards the lacrosse field.
"There!" I shout, pointing in the direction that I saw them.
Kira stops the car and grabs her sword from me, opening her door. "Stay in the car," she tell me. "Get in the driver's seat. We need to be able to pull away as fast as possible when I get them."
I nod and climb into the seat across from me as Kira slams the door shut. I may only have my permit right now but I can do this. I look up to see Brett and his sister, who I recognize from the lacrosse game, surrounded by men with guns. I gasp and grip the wheel tightly as I see the small red dots from the guns all over them. With my enhanced vision, I see the arrow fly from one of the hunters' crossbows, aimed right at Brett's heart.
Suddenly Kira appears again, slicing the air with her sword and knocking the arrow away. She gestures to them and they follow her as she blocks a few more arrows like a Jedi blocking blaster fire.
I lean over and open the passenger door. "Quick, get in!" I yell to them over the sound of the downpour. They jump in and I speed away, gripping the wheel for dear life.
"You can drive?" Is the first thing Brett says.
"Technically, yes since I'm driving right now and we are all still alive, and the car is fine," I tell him I'm a panicky voice. "But legally no. I need my dad or mom in the car with me for it to be legal."
"Just don't crash," Kira says from the passenger side.
"That's the plan," I assure her. "Where are we going though?"
"Vet," she commands.
I nod and spin the wheel, turning off on a side street to head towards the animal hospital.
Kira spins around in her seat to look at the two soaking wet werewolves in the back of her car. "What happened?"
"Our pack's house was attacked," Brett states. I glance at the rear view mirror to see him holding his sister to comfort her as tears slide down her face. "Some of us were killed, but a few, like Lori and I got out."
"Did Satomi?" I speak up, gripping the wheel nervously since I've only been driving for a few months.
"Yes, I think so," he replies.
"Try to get in touch with your pack," Kira tells him. "Tell them to meet us at the animal hospital. Are either of you hurt?"
"Brett got shot," Lori mumbles.
"I'm fine though," Brett adds, quickly. "I already healed."
I notice Brett's heartbeat speed up when he says that. "You're lying," I state.
"No, I'm not," he shoots back. "Just focus on the road. I don't want to die in a car accident."
"My driving is fine," I state. "You, on the other hand, are not. Did the bullet have wolfsbane in it?"
"It was an arrow," he mutters. "And no, it doesn't have wolfsbane in it. It's just still in my shoulder. I snapped the shaft off since I didn't have time to deal with it."
"We'll have Deaton check it out when we get there," I tell him.
"It's eight at night. I don't think Deaton would be at the vet now," Kira pipes up.
"Fine," I huff. "Then we'll figure something out. In the mean time call your pack." Brett meets my eyes when I glance back up at the mirror. I quickly look away from his piercing, blue gaze and focus all my attention on the road. My stomach feels like it's all tied up in knots and I don't know if it's because I'm driving really fast in a downpour, there's a hit list out with mine and everyone I care about's name on it, that I almost saw Brett, Kira, and Lori get gunned down by hunters, or the fact that Brett is sitting right behind me.
Probably a combination of all of them.
I glance back up for a moment to see Brett holding his phone to his ear, running his fingers through his wet hair. My heart skips a beat.
No, it's definitely a combination.
~â¢*â¢~
So finally after three chapters without Brett, he's back! And he's hotter and wetter than ever! Sorry for not much Brett in the last chapters, but Lily needed some character development and to think about her feelings about Brett.
And don't worry he'll be in the rest of the chapters from now on!
Also question: Who is you're favorite teen wolf hottie?
Mines Brett obviously but my second favorite is Theo. I just want to know who you guys like.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
