Every word she spoke was in a chill and casual tone. It was like a casual chat between Inlends, but

each word was a reminder to Dorothy of the gap between her and Everett.

Heather would never dig deeper after she finished speaking: she would just casually blabber and then

naturally switch to the next topic. Sometimes, it even gave Dorothy the false impression that she was

being overly sensitive.

Finally, the contract was set in stone.

Dorothy let out a sigh of relief, stood up, and said. “Thanks for your hard work, Ms Heather, Ill be

leaving now”

“Hey! What’s the rush? Everett should be waking up seon. I’ll go get him, and we can grab lunch

together

Everell was waking up?

She paused, then heard Heather’s explanation. “I don’t know what he was up to last night, I asked him,

but he kept quiet about it. He looked so exhausted after two consecutive meetings this morning, so I let

him rest”

Dorothy thought it was normal for Everett to keep quiet, right? How could he tell his first love that he

was with another woman and that woman was just a substitute?

“Ill pass on lunch. I have some other things to do. Thanks, Ms. Heather

She turned to leave as soon as she finished speaking.

But Heather chose this moment to stop her, striding over in her high heels.

“I… Umm. I have something to say. Don’t take it the wrong way. You should cover up the hickey on

your neck when you come to the head office. It doesn’t look good.” She pointed at the red mark on

Dorothy’s neck. “You should also take precautions. Otherwise, neither the Lopez Corporation nor

Everett can afford the consequences”

Dorothy had intentionally covered it up with foundation, so even her mother hadn’t noticed it in the

hospital

But perhaps it was a woman’s innate sensitivity. Heather must have looked at her closely

subway to meet up with my colleague, so I catch up with you later.”

She hung up the phone and then looked at the WhatsApp message from Karen.

“Dorothy, babe, I’m already at Enlightenment Church. I’m here with my brother, you don’t mind, right?”
