Kenneth was worried sick about Dorothy on the road, so he shelled out extra cash for a couple of
doctors to accompany them.
Since Dorothy was practically immobile, Kenneth had no choice but to carry her down the stairs and
into the car.
As they neared City Hospital, it was clear something big was going down. The scene was different
today and something had happened.
The Lopez family had even blocked off the surrounding streets, so no car could come or go freely.
âIf youâd woken up a bit earlier, it mightâve been easier to get in, but nowâ¦. The Lopez family must
have returned from abroad.â
Without any way forward, Kenneth turned to Dorothy, who sat in the backseat.
He hoped she would reconsider.
âYouâll figure something out, Kenneth.â
Kenneth sighed heavily, parked the car nearby, and made a call to a friend.
In no time, he was back.
âChange your clothes. My buddyâs a doctor at City Hospital, and heâs coming to sneak you in.â
âOkay!â Dorothy didnât hesitate, waiting obediently, eyes fixed on the road ahead.
She had to get to City Hospital because thatâs where Everett was!
Of course, Dorothy knew the Lopez family would give her a hard time, but being closer to him, even
just a little, was worth it.
Minutes later, Kennethâs friend arrived in a hurry.
After a glance at Dorothy, he said to Kenneth, 1 can only take her in pretending sheâs a patient from
City Hospital.â
âCanât you get me in too? She canât handle the Lopez family alone Kenneth couldnât bear the thought of
Dorothy facing them by herself.
But his friend was helpless, âNo can do, man. If I get caught, Iâm toast!â
âIâll go alone!â Dorothy immediately clutched Kenâs sleeve. âDonât worry about me, I got this.â
Kenneth, seeing the hope in her eyes, could only nod in agreement.
Dorothy was wheeled into City Hospital by Kennethâs friend. Once inside, she looked up. âYou can
leave. Donât get into trouble. because of me. I can find my way.â
âYou sure?â Kennethâs friend eyed the bloodstains on Dorothy, feeling she wasnât there to visit, but
rather needed treatment herself
âIâm fine.â
Dorothy didnât want to be a burden.
âAlright then, if you need me, Iâll be on the third floor at the Internal Medicine Clinic
After he left, Dorothy immediately headed for the ICU at City Hospital.
She knew the place well, because her mother had been arranged by Everett to stay in the VIP ward
here and had surgery here
100. 100.
Over four years had passed and she never imagined sheâd return under these circumstances.
Dorothy wheeled into the elevator, heading for the emergency room floor. As it halted, she heard what
sounded like Amandaâs
sobs.
âHeâs so young⦠my son is so young! He canât die⦠I wonât let him!â
Dorothy felt as if sheâd been frozen, her heartbeat seemingly stopped, unable to move an inch!
What did Amanda mean?
Everell?
Was he dead?
It was Jonathan Lopezâs voice that snapped Dorothy back to reality.
Before she could utter a word, her wheelchair was flipped over, and she was dumped onto the floor!
âYou bring bad luck wherever you go! Give me back my son!â Amanda, wildâeyed, lurged at Dorothy,
not caring that she too was covered in wounds.
Luckily, Jonathan, fearing his wife couldnât take the strain, pulled her back, âStop it! Even if you kill her
now, our son wonât come back!â
