âIf it werenât for her, Everett would never be in this mess! He would have already married Heather and
wouldnât be lying in a hospital bed! Dorothy, you give me back my son, you hear me?â
Amanda was sobbing so hard she could barely catch her breath, her body skimped to the floor in
defeat.
She had always been strong, always been proud. But facing her sonâs uncertain fate in her twilight
years was more than she could bear.
It was simply too cruel!
Jonathan wrapped his arms around his wife, trying to offer some comfort, then frowned at Dorothy who
was struggling to get up from the ground
âGet out, youâre not welcome here! Ive spared you for the sake of the children you bore for the Lopez
family, and thatâs mercy enough! If you donât leave now, I swearâ¦â
âIâm not going anywhere. Darothy had come prepared for anything. âIf Everett dies, I wonât live without
him,â
The conviction in her eyes was unmistakable.
Jonathan found himself believing her without a trace of doubt.
She was capable of it.
But that didnât mean the Lopez family would ever accept her as a daughterâinâlaw!
He knew all too well that his wife would never accept Dorothy, not to mention the matter with Dorothyâs
mother,
Once the truth came out, there could be no happy ending!
âThen go del Hurry up and dief Amanda was beyond reason, attempting to break free from her
husbandâs hold to attack Dorothy again!
But Dorothy, though in a pitiful state on the floor, kept her gaze fixed on the red light above the
emergency room door.
The light was still on.
That meant Everett was still alive, still fighting.
cu wonât leave on your own, Iâll have to have you removed. You can see how your presence affects
Everettâs mother!â
âDorothy, if you
âNo, I wonât leave. I have to stay with Everett Dorothy shook her head as if obsessed, âWhen he wakes
up, heâll want to see me first. I know it! I canât leave
Jonathan frowned and signaled to the bodyguards standing nearby.
Two men immediately hoisted Dorothy up from either side.
âIâve tried to reason with you, but if you wonât listen, donât blame me for throwing you out!â
Dorothy struggled fiercely. âI need to be here! Donât touch me!â
But she was already badly injured, every touch causing her immense pain. How could she fight against
two men?
Soon, her voice faded away from the emergency room floor.
Jonathan glanced at the elevator then his gaze fell on the spot where Dorothy had been lying
The blood there had dried, dark and red like ink.
It seemed she was injured quite seriously.
Amanda in his arme was crying her heart out, her eyes swollen like walnuts.
âJonathan, itâs all that Dorothyâs fault! Heather was so gentle, and she loved our son so much that she
would never have done something like this! You must send someone to take care of that menace, or
our family will never have peace!â
Jonathan furrowed his brow deeply, and he let out a heavy sigh, âWe do owe Honther for the past, but
youâve already made a scene for so long. It is enough!
âOur son is in the emergency room, his life hanging by a thread, and youâre at defending Dorothy?â
âBut it wasnât Dorothy who stabbed our son!
Amanda was stunned into silence by the rebuke, her sobs momentarily forgotten.
Finally, Jonathan stood up, glanced at Dorothy who had been thrown out of the hospital but refused to
leave, and said firmly, âCalm yourself. The doctors from abroad are in place and ready. Weâre preparing
to leave. Saving Everett is whatâs most important now.â
