FORGOTTEN WIFE: BLOOD TIES

CHAPTER 1: PROMISE

April was lulling her baby to sleep when one of the maids came in.

“Your majesty, I have a letter for you.”

Seeing the seal on the letter, April put her daughter in the crib, took the letter and read it immediately.

The letter was short, it only said. “{Come to the kingdom of Laios and keep your word. Enzo Venobich.}”

April had promised her brother that she would go to the kingdom of Laios to close the rift that connected to Hades, but since she was pregnant, she couldn’t use her power and had turned it off.

Lissana, her daughter had just turned six months old, even though it hurt her to be separated from her, she had to go to the kingdom of Laios.

Seeing the queen’s worried face, the maid asked.

“Your majesty, is there something that worries you?”

April shook her head and answered in a low voice so as not to wake the baby.

“It’s nothing, don’t worry, I need to go out, I leave Lissana in your care.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of the princess.”

Abril went to Alessandro’s office, the two guards who were stationed at the door bowed and greeted her.

“Blessing to the moon of the kingdom.”

Abril found those greetings somewhat exaggerated, but ever since Alessandro had told everyone that they were a match made in heaven, everyone had begun to call them the sun and moon of the kingdom.

Abril opened the door, Alessandro upon seeing her got up from his seat and went to meet her, he put his arms around her, gave her a soft and sweet kiss on the lips and said:

“What a surprise you’ve given me, I didn’t expect to see you until dinner, where is Lissana?”

“She’s sleeping.”

Alessandro held her by the waist and with a seductive voice said to her.

“Then we should take advantage of the fact that we’re alone to make love.”

April was tempted for a moment, but then remembered why she had come, and said.

“This is not the time for that, I came because

I have something important to tell you.”

“What is it?”

“I must go to the kingdom of Laios.”

“What? Why must you go to that place?”

“I promised my brother that I would go to help him close the Hades rift, do you remember? I have been postponing my trip, but I can no longer do so.”

“Then I will go with you, I do not intend to let you go to that place alone.”

“No, Lissana is still very little, I will not be calm, if we both go”

“But I do not want you to go alone.”

“I did not say that I would go alone, do not worry, I will be fine, I will ask Sirius to accompany me.”

Alessandro knew that Sirius was a great magician and that April was not far behind, she was very powerful, but still, he was still nervous.

“Okay, but you have to take some knights.”

April shook her head.

“No, I want my visit to the kingdom of Laios to be secret, if I take many guards with me that would be impossible.”

“I understand.”

“But I will not let you go alone with Sirius, I will ask Cassian to come and accompany you, otherwise I will not be able to rest easy.”

“Sounds good to me and you could ask Sirius to come, I would like to talk to him and ask him to accompany me.”

“You know I can force him, right?”

“Yes, but I prefer that he goes of his own free will.”

“If that is what you want, I will not object.”

“Thank you.”

That same afternoon, Alessandro sent a message to the wizards’ tower requesting Sirius’ presence and sent a letter to Cassian asking him to go to the palace, he did not want to specify the reason in any of his letters, since it was a very delicate subject.

Sirius arrived early the next day in the morning. He was heading to Alessandro’s office when he ran into April in the hallway.

“Hello Sirius, it’s been a while since we last saw each other.”

“Greetings, Your Majesty the Queen.”

“Don’t be so rigid, you can just call me Aby, you’re my teacher.”

“It’s fine, even though I’m not her teacher anymore, I have nothing more to teach her.”

“I don’t think that’s the case, I have a lot of questions that need answers, and you’re the only one who can answer them, or at least the only one I can ask.”

“And, I suppose the king can’t know?”

“I’d appreciate it if you kept this conversation a secret.”

“But, why did he come to ambush me?”

“You haven’t seen my daughter yet, have you?”

“No, I haven’t had the honor of meeting Princess Lissana yet.”

“Alessandro will take you to meet her, I’m sure of that, when you see her don’t say anything unnecessary.”

“Is there something wrong with the princess?”

“It’s not that it’s anything bad, but I don’t want Alessandro to know yet.”

“Okay.”

“Thank you very much, I just wanted to say that, see you later and thank you.”

April began to relax, Sirius wondered what the queen wanted to hide from the king. Sirius headed towards the king’s office, as Alessandro entered he said.

“What took you so long?”

“I came as soon as I could, even if it doesn’t seem like it, I have a tower to run.”

Alessandro gave him an indifferent look, as if to say, ’And what does that matter to me?’

“Why did his majesty call me?”

“I want you to protect Aby.”

“What? Don’t you have knights to take care of that?”

“She must go to the kingdom of Laios, her visit will be in secret, so she will only bring two companions, she wants one of those companions to be you.”

“And I suppose that this is not a question, of if I want to accept being her guard, but rather an order.”

“I would prefer that you agree to go voluntarily, since that is what Aby wants, but if you refuse I can force you, she chose you, that means that she trusts you, I hope you do not throw away her trust.”

“Okay, I will be the guard of her majesty the Queen.”

“Take good care of her.”

“I will.”

“You still do not know my daughter, come on, I want you to meet her.”

Sirius laughed, realizing that the queen had been right. The king was doing as she had said.

“The king has really become a fool who adores his daughter.” Sirius muttered to himself.

“Did you say something?”

“No, I have not said anything.”

“Then let’s go, April must be waiting for us, I told her we would go when you came.”

“Then let’s go, let’s not keep the queen waiting.”
