Chapter 19

Airia looked at Librin’s face and held back tears. She slowly lifted his body and placed him down on the bed. Her head was pounding as she walked. Her head was fuzzy and swirling, and she was unable to keep her focus. But she needed to focus. Her world was just as destroyed as Librin’s was.

Something, though, was wrong. She knew she had to tell someone something. It was something important as well. She pushed into her head to try and see what she was missing, but found null. Surely it wasn’t too important; she might remember later. The lullaby does impact her, so using it on Librin led her to be groggy as well. That must be what's happening, she told herself.

She decided to go and talk to the rest of the Elementals. Or all that were left. All of the Air, Fire, Earth, and Water Elementals remained. The Time Elementals never appeared in their temple. They could only theorize what had happened to them. The Space Elementals escaped with Nyx after they were captured when Librin… When Librin what? Her head scrambled for an answer. She couldn’t remember. The stress really must be getting to her, she thought. She opened a door to another large conference room, finding the Elementals all standing around a table in the middle of the room. A male Elemental with black hair spoke, “Airia, you’re back. How’d Librin take the news?” She rubbed her eyes. “Not the worst I’ve seen someone take the news that the person who murdered their lover has escaped,” she said sarcastically. The man raised his hands in a mock surrender. “I thought he was fine, but he ended up sobbing, so I had to put him to sleep,” she yawned slightly. “Well, better than him exploding another room,” he replied. There was a murmur of agreement. She looked at him inquisitively. Blown up a room? When had that happened? Maybe she had missed an interaction he had with Nyx. She shook away her thoughts and continued their conversation, “Either way, has there been any word from The Commanders? Or anyone of note? I’m not sure how long it’s been, or if it’s been any time at all.” The group mumbled in disapproval. Another Elemental spoke, one with slightly darker skin and brown hair, “Not a single thing has come through any medium. It is more difficult without the Space Elementals, though. They could directly contact The Lord’s Domain. Though I was scanning for any Earth throughout space, and was able to find a strange ruin that seems to have escaped whatever destroyed everything else. All I could find other than that is the Parthenon and some dust in space. Not even a single planet exists anymore.” It was interesting to her that the Parthenon was one of the only places not destroyed. Isn’t that where Librin was? He must’ve tried to protect it as he was dying. “Do we know anything about this building? How had you guys not found it before this?” Airia said. “It has the same composition as the Earth itself. Most man-made constructions are made of something else that is disturbed and altered. This site seems to have been there since the Earth was made, thus it was likely confused as a cave,” replied the brown haired man. This was curious to her. Back before the Earth was formed, they didn’t have physical form yet, let alone sentient thought to create something. That meant that it was likely something placed there by their creator. She hoped it would be the key to figuring out what to do. Airia looked back towards the first man, “Saiji, go wake up Librin, and then we will set out to this ruin.” Saiji nodded and walked off in the direction of their sleeping quarters. Her head pounded for one last time and subsided as she took one final deep breath.
