No Longer Me | Taegi✔️1,614 words~9 min read

At school, Yoongi started to feel awkward. He was the only one amongst his friends that was eating now. His friends had been forcing themselves to eat in front of him for nearly two years now, but now that he knows they don't survive on food like he does, they just sit there and watch Yoongi eat as they talk. On the bright side, they're speaking like normal again. It feels extra effortless now. His friends don't have to hide and it feels nice this way.

However, he's the one keeping secrets now. Every day that Yoongi is available, Taehyung meets him at his house. At first, it was just typical small talk on Yoongi's roof— as if that's completely normal or something. Yoongi was fine with the small talk, but then Taehyung wanted to take it a step further.

"Doesn't this roof get tiring?" Taehyung asked him, pulling Yoongi's blanket off of him. Yoongi pouted as Taehyung threw the blanket over onto the other end of the roof. "How about we actually do something? Wouldn't you like that? We could go somewhere. Are you hungry? We could go get some food."

Yoongi merely watched as Taehyung sat up. He was now cold and confused, not knowing where this sudden want of doing things was coming from. Yoongi doesn't mind talking on the roof with him, though. It's nice to just lay back and watch the sunset.

"You don't even eat."

The vampire chuckled. "Jungkook and I love rare steak, thank you very much." He reached for Yoongi's hand, something that had become normal within time. Despite how cold Taehyung's hand was, it felt nice. It felt nice because Yoongi's hand had something to do; something to hold onto. "Come on," Taehyung said as he pulled Yoongi off of the roof.

"Where are we going?"

"To my favorite restaurant," Taehyung answered as he pulled the smaller onto his back. He jumped from the roof, the height of it still scaring Yoongi as the ground came closer and closer, but Taehyung landed them well, not a single scratch on either of them. He put Yoongi down and walked towards his black SUV, opening the passenger door. He stared at Yoongi, amused. "Coming?"

Yoongi rolled his eyes as he decided upon going. There's no harm in a meal.

"I'm not even dressed nicely to go and eat," he said as he stepped in front of Taehyung, who merely opened the door wider.

"You look wonderful."

The ride to Taehyung's favorite restaurant didn't feel too long, but it may have been because Yoongi was having fun during the ride. Taehyung had the auxiliary cord, playing new and old hits. The way he got so into the songs and sang with his whole chest made Yoongi smile. He was tapping the wheel to his vehicle as well, so dramatic-like. Yoongi wondered how someone dead could be so lively.

He couldn't help but love it.

When they got to the restaurant, Yoongi was seeing the true colors of Kim Taehyung come through. They had conversations on the roof, but that doesn't compare to dancing and singing in the car or the pure joy on Taehyung's face as he sat down in a booth, clearly one he was comfortable sitting in.

Yoongi sat across from him, noting that the cushion of the booth is comfortable, at least. Taehyung already knew what he was going to order, Yoongi figured because instead of looking at the menu and deciding, he was staring at Yoongi as he examined the menu.

"You've seriously never been here?" Taehyung suddenly asked him, shocked.

He glanced up at Taehyung, a weak smile formed on his face as he glanced back at the black and white menu. "No," he muttered out. "I'm surprised you even eat here."

"They serve me rare steaks," Taehyung re-mentioned. "And also blood soup and pork blood stew." He smiled knowingly at Yoongi as he leaned over the table. "It's a normal restaurant, but we own it. We choose the meals that are served. People don't question it."

Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows as he looked back up from the menu. "You own this restaurant?" he asked. Taehyung leaned back in the booth and shrugged.

"Not just me," he said. "But the people who work here don't know that. We can't have these teenagers knowing that someone they go to school with owns the place."

"Why do you guys go to school?"

"Well, why do you go?"

Yoongi rolled his eyes and plopped the menu down onto the table a little too loudly. "Yeah, that's not what I mean," he pouted. "You've already gotten your education. Who the hell would want to go to school again?"

Taehyung shrugged. "Just trying our best to at least feel normal." He picked up Yoongi's menu. "So, what're you ordering?" He stared at the menu, changing the subject too easily. "A burger or something? Those things are delicious. I bet if I wasn't so sucky-sucky, I'd probably love them even more."

Yoongi hummed. "Burgers weren't a thing when you were..." He looked around, noticing that nobody else was there. Probably because this restaurant is so secluded. "human?"

"Nope." Taehyung sighed. "Nothing tastes as good as the B-word." He winked at Yoongi, a smile forming on his face. "I can still taste food. It's just— It doesn't taste as good. Steak tastes amazing, though. Only rare. That's cheating, I know, but the steak tastes good as well."

Yoongi nodded. "So you like burgers even though they aren't the B-word?"

"I love a lot of food," Taehyung said. "Jungkook and I eat a lot more than we should. Jimin thinks we're weird for it. He doesn't eat food like we do. He even pretends to be vegetarian." He chuckled to himself. "Me and Jungkook bring our own lunch to school. And you've probably not noticed, but we have metal cups that we bring as well. B-word is inside of it." He smiled to himself. "One time, Jungkook spilled his cup and some girl looked at him like he was crazy. He told her it was Kool-Aid, so Jimin called him stupid. It's quite funny."

Yoongi gleamed, grinning the whole time Taehyung spoke. "You're a lot more talkative than what people think," he told him.

Taehyung cowered a bit into his seat. "Sorry. I can certainly be chatty. It's because I don't have to hide from you."

"It's fine." Yoongi chuckled. "I like talking to you—"

"What can I get for you two today?" A girl with a half apron broke their conversation. Yoongi and Taehyung perked up at her.

"Rare steak and Coke," Taehyung answered. He looked at Yoongi and tilted his head as the girl began to write down the order.

"Um..." Yoongi's cheeks dusted pink as Taehyung stared so intensely at him, and the girl was also waiting for him to answer, smiling friendly down at him. "I- I'll take a hamburger." He glanced up at Taehyung, smiling weakly. "The hamburger meal. I'll take that. Coke to drink as well for me."

The girl nodded as she finished writing down the order. "No appetizers?" she asked. Taehyung shook his head, as did Yoongi. "Okay. I'll bring your drinks right out. The food will take just a few minutes." She smiled down at Yoongi, red lipstick bringing out the pretty white teeth she had.

Taehyung hummed as the girl walked away. "She's new here," he said. "She looked at you like she wanted to jump your bones."

Yoongi shook his head slowly. "I didn't even notice she was looking at me."

"How much you want to bet she asks for your number before you leave?" Taehyung smirked, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I- I don't want it." Yoongi was slightly blushing, not knowing how to answer. But when the girl came back with their drinks, Yoongi noticed that she put her hand on his shoulder. What kind of waitress touches their customers? Ones who want a number, Yoongi guesses. He doesn't like that, though.

"You want me to say something to her?" Taehyung asked. He as well looked bothered by the girl, squinting in the direction she walked in. Yoongi shook his head at him.

"If she asks for my number or does anything else, I'll say something," he declared.

Sure enough, when she came back to their table to serve their food, she grabbed Yoongi's hand, shoving something into it. As she walked off, Yoongi stared down at his open hand, a little piece of paper in it.

"Wow, she likes you."

Yoongi's head shot up at Taehyung. He laughed awkwardly, placing the paper on the table. "I guess." He looked at his food instead, mouth starting to water at the big burger. "Damn," he muttered softly to himself.

Taehyung chuckled. "Looks good."

"Good," Yoongi said as he picked it up and held it over the table. "Bite." Taehyung looked at him in confusion, then stared at the burger. "Go ahead. I got this because of you."

"I can't just—"

"Yes," Yoongi chuckled as he pushed the burger closer to him. "I can't eat all of this on my own. Plus, you're paying. Take a bite."

Taehyung cocked an eyebrow. "I'm suddenly paying?" He smiled as he leaned in and finally took a bite from the burger. Yoongi smiled cheekily at Taehyung as he put the other end of the burger up to his mouth and bit as well. "Well, since I'm paying," Taehyung murmured through his chews. "Dessert is a must, no?"

Yoongi's cheeks were full of the juicy burger. He couldn't answer Taehyung, so he nodded. Taehyung cackled at the human.

"Glad we agree."
