Chapter 13 â Sierraâs Sister, Amil, the Grand Archmage
All eyes were on Sierra. She looked at Andante, who was embarrassed and looked somewhat ridiculous, trembling with slight fear.
âIâm⦠fine.â
Sierra, who was about to say, âI donât care if you touch me,â could sense Cassiusâ ghastly expression.
She stared at Cassius without thinking. Surprisingly, his eyes were red.
âI said Iâd protect you.â
Oh, my God.
No.
Donât cry!
Sierra loved the tears of the handsome man, but she never wanted him to cry at a time like this. She grabbed Cassius roughly by the wrist.
âT-Thank you for protecting me. Letâs go quickly. Iâm cold.â
Like Sierra, who values health, she was wearing a shawl and a muffler, but that didnât help at all.
âOkay, letâs go. And Andante?â
The godmotherâs cool gaze was directed toward Andante.
ââ¦This is your one and only warning, Dear.â
The godmother and Cassius followed Sierra, wrapping their arms around her. Hanael followed behind the three, touching her cheeks with her hands.
Crash!
The owner of the tea house, who was watching the whole fiasco, broke the precious teacup. This situation would end briefly.
No, this situation⦠is over for now.
Andante, who was left alone, sat down with a blank look on her face.
âWhat is thisâ¦â
Their affection for Sierra was very deep. They favored her too much than what she had imagined. There wasnât a chance for her to drive them apart, to begin with.
***
Sierra, who finally got to go out after a long time, was insulted.
She never thought so, of course, but from the perspective of the godmother and Cassius, it seemed so.
Soâ¦
In the dukeâs mansion, there was a situation that resembled a special operation.
âPlease find out what her tastes are.â
The most important thing for the godmother was to âfind out what Sierra wanted.â The maid began to investigate Sierra with secrecy comparable to a spyâs mission.
On the other hand, Cassius was surprisingly quiet.
Similar to usual, peaceful days passed.
Though she realized that this would be very little peace before the typhoon.
Sierra was reading the morning newspaper while having her tea time in peace, but suddenly, she dropped the food she was about to take into her mouth.
âãBreaking NewsãA mysterious commoner, who is a blossoming young woman, is with Duke Idios.
âWait. Isnât that me, the commoner woman?â
Sierra laughed as she checked the newspaper.
From her point of view, it didnât really matter. Sierraâs identity wasnât properly revealed, and she was described as just a â blossoming young woman.â
Althoughâ¦
Sierraâs jaw dropped when she checked the newspaper after lunch that day.
â Duke of Idios disapproved of othersâ entry into the townhouse.
â Is it because of the commoner woman, who is of marriageable age?
â Will she be the mistress of the duke? Or will she be taken in by the godmother?
Taken in? Thatâs not gonna happen, you bastards.
For now, it was not ordinary not to allow others to enter. Usually, townhouses in the capital of noble families were opened for social activities, but they just shut it down.
âI hope itâs a misunderstanding, but the headline in the newspaper seemed plausible.â I didnât dare to read the details of the article because I was afraid it was real.
Just looking at the title of the article made me dizzy. Sierra lowered her hand and checked another newspaper.
â Duke Idios purchases shops within a kilometer of the townhouse, and it becomes a hot topic
âHaâ¦â
Sierra gave a deep sigh as if the ground cave in.
âWhy the hell is godmother doing this to me?â
I couldnât tell whether it was really because of Hanael or because of her feelings of regret. I didnât even want to know her mental state. For some reason, I thought it would be twice as burdensome if I dig in more than this.
âAnyway, I warned you not to, people. Youâre the ones who didnât listen.â
So Sierra decided to sit on the sidelines of the creation of black history between the godmother and Cassius.
He wonât listen to me even if I stop him. Instead, I intended to record the fact that I had stopped him gradually with a video recording or writing instrument.
âIf you sue me for adultery or fraud later on, Iâll have to go see a lawyerâ¦â
Sierra began to gather evidence one by one.
However, she did not forget to treat others kindly. She canât avoid it, so she should enjoy it now, right?
âMiss?â
âAh, yes, yes! Miss Sierra!â
Sierra smiled broadly at the maid, who was filled with excitement.
âCan I have another plate of that omelette du fromage?â
âOf course, Iâll give you everything you want!â
âHa, this is so nice.â
Her slender shoulders trembled with happiness. Eating omelette du fromage with strawberry jam made me think that this is heaven.
The idea that my sister should come and solve this situation quickly fainted away.
***
Meanwhile, Sierraâs older sister, Amil, the archmage, was drinking wine in the towerâs office.
She drank to the point where her nose scrunched up until Abel, who listened to Sierra, wandered to the messy room.
âArchmage!â
With her chestnut-shaped eyes and her voice sour, she said,
âOh, itâs been a while, Abel.â
âArchmage, youâve been here? Why didnât you contact me?â
âAh, wellâ¦â
âItâs urgent. Please go to Sierra!â
âWhat, whatâs going on?â
âWell, Hanael is being mistaken as Sierraâs daughter. I know you want to live freely, but itâs time to go find Hanaelâ¦â
After listening to the whole story, Amil waved her hand.
âI roughly understand what happened now.â
ââ¦Yes, so I need your help.â
âWell, no. The monster, Cassius Idios, is obsessed with Sierra. Right? Back at the academy, they were together briefly, so Cassius thought Hanael was his daughter, and Sierra said, âThatâs not true, thatâs crazy.ââ
Abel was surprised on the inside.
Amil was a geek even for an archmage. To think sheâs drinking and eating comfortably inside the tower, while taking on the extraordinary commission of the tower.
âHow did you know?â
âWhen youâre an archmage, you become a wise person who masters the world, little wolf.â
ââ¦T-Thatâs true.â
Abelâs cheeks became faintly red.
âWell⦠what Sierra wants is not something I can help her with.â
âWhat?â
âYou asked me to prove that Hanael is not Sierraâs daughter.â
Amil mumbled low with her mouth shut.
âThatâs impossible. I canât enter the capital city. There is a situation within us adults.â
âHuh? Didnât you go there yesterday? âRoll and breadâ is a popular bread that is only available in the capital.â
Amil frowned.
âThatâs⦠Anyway, even if I approach them, both Sierra and Hanael will be in danger. This time itâs different, wolf boy.â
Amil swiftly hid a video cassette recorder she was holding behind her back.
Amil said, interrupting Abel, who did not notice the fact that he was dissatisfied with her words.
âAnyway, let Sierra know. Tell her if she wishes to stay alive, she better stay with the duke for three months. Oh, and Iâll tell you what Sierra wants most.â
While Abel was distracted, Amil lifted herself onto the ledge of a window.
The tower they were in had over thirty flights of stairs, but she sat dizzily on the window sill and waved her hand as if she were about to jump down.
ââ¦From now on, you can use your abilities freely. Youâve done a great job keeping your promise to hide them. Tell her not to worry because Cassius Idios will protect her in the future.â
âNoâ¦â
âWell, I really gotta get going.â
Abel shouted into the air in vain.
âArchmage! You canât leave like this!â
âOkay, we meet again in three months! Sierra must endure many hardships until then!â
Abel, listening to Amilâs lively voice, hurriedly approached the window and looked down. But she had already disappeared far away.
âNo, no⦠Miss Amil!â
Abelâs voice was nothing but a vain echo in the air.
âOh, dear⦠I should finish dyeing my rootsâ¦â
Amil, who hates her gold hair, used hair dye to make it pink. However, it seemed impossible to dye her roots every time it grew out.
Abel clicked his tongue and looked around at the mess inside the tower.
By the wayâ¦
âI feel like a shrimp caught between two whalesâ¦â
Abel sighed again, checking his recent letter from Sierra.
[Abel, what did she say? Iâm going to punch her when she comes back. Did you ask me to grit my teeth? ]
However, it was impossible to even meet with her in the first place.
The free archmage, Amil, left, and the tower was already silently empty. Abel, who was in vain, whispered to himself.
âIâm in trouble, Sierra.â
âNo, this is not the time.â Abel quickly lifted himself. Even if the truth couldnât be known, he had to tell Sierra.
Then, Abel found a small envelope.
It was a small scroll with the words âIf you found this, it means itâs dangerous now, Sierra.â written in it.
Abel slowly opened the envelope.
***
Abel entered the capital immediately, feeling embarrassed.
The rumor of Duke Idiosâ Cinderella was rampant across the city.
Gossip columnists tried to break through the dukeâs ironclad defense, but they failed. There were many speculations that the lady who entered the fortress could be awarded a title of nobility.
âUh, what the hell is thisâ¦â
Isnât Cinderella⦠Sierra?
âIsnât this too muchâ¦?â
He had to grasp the situation.
Abel clenched his fists and arrived in front of the dukeâs mansion where Sierra was staying.
It was a huge noble mansion that looked like it was just out of a fairy tale. A pointed spire could be seen, and a clock tower was visible from the square.
Abel spoke sincerely to the helmeted gatekeeper.
âIâve come to see Miss Sierra.â
The knight was startled and hurriedly took off his helmet.
âWho?â
He was in charge of reporting the people who are looking for Sierra.
âIf you tell her my name, she will recognize me. I lived with Miss Sierraâ¦â
The knights exchanged glances at his words.
Of course, Duke Idios told them to let anyone related to Sierra in. However, a playful young man with sky blue hair should not be allowed in.
It was just then, when the knights were agonizing for a while.
âAbeeel!â
Hanael, with her two pretty little pigtails, dashed out the door.
âHanael!â
Abel hugged Hanael in a tearful embrace. Hanael declared with her chin up as if she had already adapted to the mansion.
âWhat? You knights!â
The faces of the knights turned into smiles.
âLet Abel in this second.â
How can anyone resist the lovely Hanael and her orders? The knights hurriedly opened the door.
But it was then,
Looking at his rival, Duke Idios approached from the door.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
