43 Unraveling Control Alex’s unexpected arrival the morning after her wild night out startled Lillian, who shrieked at the sight of her brother. She always held a deep–seated fear of Alex, complying with his dictates since childhood. His stern expression told her all she needed to know.

“Why are you here, Alex? You know I was out all night,” Lillian stammered, clutching her blanket around her naked body nervousty Alex addressed her calmly, observing her discomfort but choosing not to embarrass her further. “Do you understand the repercussions your actions with Nathan could have on our family’s reputation and business?”

Lillian, defiant despite her nervousness, responded, “It’s just justice for the past. What’s the harm in exposing the truth about Kimina?”

Alex’s patience waned, “Those photos are far from ‘truth.‘ They’re misleading and damaging. As of now, you’re grounded. No access to your finances until you learn your lesson.”

He left swiftly, pondering Emma’s peculiar behavior around his family. Had she been silently enduring unseen challenges all these years? A sense of regret washed over him.

Enraged at her newfound confinement, Lillian lashed out by throwing her pillow across the room, her frustration boiling over. She impulsively picked up her phone and dialed Emma’s number, intending to confront her for involving Alex, Emma, caught off guard by the call but quickly regaining composure, listened to Lillian’s tirade. “I warned Alex to control you. Now, your family will face the consequences.”

After ending the call abruptly, even as Lillian continued her tirade, Emma turned her attention to a previously discarded business proposal. Jada entered, curious about the sudden interest in the old project.

“I was giving them a chance to save face after the divorce,” Emma explained. “But their relentless provocation leaves me no choice. It’s time to fully confront their deceit.”

Jada’s eyes sparkled with anticipation. “They underestimated you, Emma. Now they’ll learn the cost of their arrogance.”

Emma made up her mind and started preparing to launch her own counterstrike, demonstrating her resolve to no longer tolerate the machinations of Lillian and her brother.
