Chapter 1280 Grocery Shopping

“Is this all right?” Blake pulled out a thick wad of cash and waved it in front of Marianne.

“Well… I’m not entirely sure.” Marianne’s eyes brightened, but she still shook her head.

“What’s the matter? We are Tommy’s biological parents. Is there a problem with us taking him out to

play? We promise to bring him back home by 5 p.m., okay?” Abellyn said fiercely.

Marianne was a stubborn woman, but she couldn’t help but think of the saying, “Even cruel tigers

wouldn’t devour their young.” Abellyn was Tommy’s biological mother, so Abellyn wouldn’t do anything

to harm her son, right?

“Well… you better keep your word!” Marianne warned them symbolically after taking the money.

Blake and Abellyn quickly took Tommy to the car, even though Tommy wasn’t very willing. Along the

way, he kept saying he wanted Ryder and Tia.

Marianne took the money and didn’t have the heart to stop them, but after Abellyn took Tommy away,

she realized that the stack of money in her hand was counterfeit!!

“D*mn it! How dare those deceitful individuals trick me? Don’t think I won’t call the police!”

Marianne was furious and immediately picked up the phone to report the incident. She would accuse

them of child trafficking if they didn’t return Tommy and see what they would do.

alone to buy groceries early in the morning, which startled Emmanuel and almost made him fall off the

couch.

“Mackenzie, let me handle this kind of thing!”

Emmanuel tried to dissuade her. He still remembered the last time he went to the market with her to

buy groceries, which almost caused a traffic jam.

She glared at him and warned him in a cold voice. “I’ll cook today, so you better behave!”

“Why?” he asked in surprise, filled with confusion.

“As a way of repaying you for saving me twice before. I dislike owing people favors the most!”

Mackenzie replied seriously.

“Must a married couple keep such meticulous accounts?” He chuckled bitterly. “Shouldn’t a husband

take care of his wife?”

She glared at him again. Although she didn’t say anything, she secretly thought that one-sided

emotional investment was destined not to last!

She never liked the idea of female dependence, and she didn’t believe that just because a man and a

woman were together, the woman could comfortably let the man keep giving without reciprocation.

Emotional investment had to be equal for it to last.

Upon seeing her silence, Emmanuel quickly raised his hands and smiled. “All right. I’m glad, but I hope

this is a repayment, not revenge!”

Mackenzie glared at him for the third time before snorting and turning away.

Hopefully, she wouldn’t burn the food!

Soon, a multi-million-dollar Bentley parked at the entrance of the farmer’s market, instantly attracting a

large crowd’s attention.

“Ms. Mackenzie, do you need us to accompany you?” Wally opened the car door for Mackenzie and

asked.

“You can help me carry the groceries then.” Mackenzie gave orders effortlessly.

“Yes, Ms. Mackenzie!” Wally quickly followed behind Mackenzie with two bodyguards.

Wherever they went, people would make way for them. Even the stubborn bargain-hunting old ladies,

who usually wouldn’t budge an inch, were intimidated by Mackenzie’s icy aura!

After Mackenzie passed by, a few of the older women straightened their backs proudly and scoffed.

“She’s just young. Hmph! Back when I was young, I was just as impressive, if not more. My figure was

even more attractive!”

Mackenzie didn’t have a curvaceous and sexy figure, but her physique was excellent, and she radiated

a captivating charm. Men who caught a glimpse of her would be instantly captivated. As she walked

past, men seemed to be under a spell, some even dropping whatever they were holding without
