Chapter Twenty-six: IT'S GOING TO BITE MY FACE

"I can't do it!"

"Frost just put the cookies in the oven. It's really simple."

"What if I burn myself?"

"You have like, twenty pairs of oven mitts on. You'll be fine."

"Then why don't you do it, Nailia."

"Okay while you girls figure it out," mom says while taking her apron off, "I'm going to go talk with Neo for a minute."

I practically throw the cookie tray on Nailia. "You put it in!"

She rolls her eyes and easily puts them in the oven. "Wimp."

"I could have died."

"Hey! Tell me where the hell is a nearby Taco Bell!" I grab a girl by the shoulder. She turns around, and her face looks just like Nova.

"Gee lady. Get that fixed," I say to her before walking away.

"Hey, you-"

"Hey Frost... can you get up?" A voice interrupts my wonderful dream.

I want Taco Bell now.

"I don't know. Can I?" I ask as I force my eyes open. Neo and Nailia stand at my door, fully dressed with backpacks. "What is this?"

Nailia raises one of her perfect, filled in eyebrows, "We're going to the zoo."

I want those eyebrows. I should ask her to do them for me. Every time I do my eyebrows, they end up looking like someone glued to two big slugs.

"And how does that involve me?" I question while wrapping myself in a burrito.

All I want to do is sleep. Like, making those cookies last night was so exhausting. And then August kept crying in the middle of the night.

"Because your mom wants us to spend time with Neo," Nailia responds and smacks my butt.

I screech and fall out of my warm, and comfortable bed. "My buttcheeks!"

"We will wait for you downstairs, I made us all breakfast smoothies." Neo chuckles while leaving. I rub my booty before pulling myself up.

I go to my window and open the curtains only to see Nova staring at me. I stand there, my eyes slightly wide.

I watch as his eyes travel down my body, and I look down. I have on a tight tank top that goes above my belly button, and really short shorts.

I immediately close the curtains, the blush crawling up my neck. Mister doesn't deserve to see this hot bod!

I slap my face multiple times, trying to knock some sense into me. Once I slapped myself enough times, I walked over to my closet, and pull out my black leggings, and my light blue 'Killin It' shirt. I put on my shoes, and put my hair in a bun.

I trot downstairs. Nailia is flipping through some animal magazine, and Neo is putting August in one of those carriers you strap to yourself. Mom is running on the treadmill, and dad is passed out.

I didn't even know we owned a treadmill. I mean, I'm never going to use it anyways.

I can barely even walk without sweating.

"Mom what are you doing?" I ask mom while pulling on my jacket.

"Losing this weight I gained while I was preggers," she explains breathlessly.

"Oh, well have fun!" I exclaim while following Nailia and Neo out the house. "So, are we... gonna.." I trail off as I see Nova walk out of his house.

He has his earbuds in and some sweats. He stares at me and then looks at me to Neo. Without a second thought, he starts jogging away.

I guess he really isn't going to talk to me. That's fine I guess. I didn't do anything wrong. Even if I did, I won't admit it!

I sigh quietly and awkwardly look at Neo and Nailia.

"Who's that boy you were staring at?" Neo asks as we cross the street to his car.

"The love of her life," Nailia teases in a high pitch tone.

"Shut up before I shave off your eyebrows," I threaten and get in the back seat with her. Neo straps August in her car seat next to Nailia.

"So Frost, Nailia what do you girls want to be after graduating college?" Neo asks while starting the car.

"I want to be a professional make-up artist," Nailia answers, still looking through the animal magazine.

I shrug my shoulders, "I don't know yet," I chuckle and pull my legs up to my chest. I find myself thinking about Nova.

Maybe I shouldn't have wandered off. But then again, the boy I like kissed a girl, didn't explain anything, and then got mad at me because I left. Like what in the plot twist is going on?! How am I the only one being punished?!

And I didn't even tell him about what happened with Adrian. Gag.

Although he probably wouldn't care. I mean, the first day we actually talked to each other, he didn't like me.

I shouldn't have stuck around.

"Huh?"

I turn to look at Nailia. "Did I say that out loud?" I ask her and she nods.

"What do you mean?" she closes the magazine and gives me her full attention. I look down at the necklace he got me.

I still haven't taken it off. I probably should, because he isn't going to talk to me anytime soon.

I take off the necklace and put in my backpack. "I said, I shouldn't have stuck around."

"Stuck around where?"

"With Nova. I shouldn't have talked to him at all,"

"I just... should've left."

We arrived at the zoo to find it not too busy or crowded, which is good. We all get out of the car, and I stretch my tired limbs.

"Your mom wants us to take photos," Neo states as he buckles August to his chest. "Alright. Where should we go first?"

"Ooh, let's go to the open bunny cage thingy," I suggest and they nod. "We're off to see the bunnies! The wonderful bunnies of... of... of..." I stammer over a word that rhymes with Oz.

Neo and Nailia look at me in confusion.

"Oh never mind."

We walked to the open bunny thingy, and I got a hotdog on the way.

"Oh, they're so cute!" Nailia squeals while some lady puts a bunny in Nailia's arms. I toss my hotdog wrapper in a garbage can and wipe my hands off.

The lady puts a white one with brown spots, in my arms and hands me a few treats. I widen my eyes and stop chewing what's left of my hotdog.

This was unexpected. I didn't know it was hold a cute bunny day. Usually, it's only where the bunnies are out in this humongous playpen, and you get to toss them treats.

The bunny starts crawling up my chest, baring its teeth, and I let out a gasp.

Oh no. I'm going to die.

"IT'S GOING TO BITE MY FACE," I say loudly and Neo takes it from me.

He laughs while August reaches out for the bunny. I gasp again as the lady puts a baby bunny in my arms.

She must want me to die. Like, I get that they're extremely adorable, but lADY THEY HAVE TEETH, AND THEY KNOW HOW TO USE 'EM.

"They don't bite," the lady states with a small smile.

I nod my head not believing her. The baby bunny falls asleep, its whiskers tickling my neck.

At least it isn't attacking me. I remember one time when I was younger, I was at this petting zoo, and I was holding a bunny. And then this chick dropped her metal water bottle and it freaked all the bunnies out.

Let's just say my arm has scars from the bunny's claws. They were sharp! Like, sharper than a sharpie.

Heh...

Pun intended.

"Where do you want to go next?" Neo asks us as the lady takes the bunnies away.

"Can we go to the lions and cheetahs?" Nailia asks and Neo nods.

"We can get some really good pictures there," Neo says while we walk over to the lions and cheetahs. On the way there, I spotted Kai and Iris but I didn't talk to them.

They have to be dating. I mean, they're doing the track race together, they're always together, and I've caught them holding hands.

It's official. I'm setting them up like how I did with Manon and Cole.

I should just become cupid or a professional matchmaker chick.

I mean, I got the skills required; eavesdropping, ninja skills, dirty jokes, truth in my words, etc. I also have a way with things; you're going to the waterpark? Oh, so are they!

And in reality, they aren't.

I'm actually going to consider this.

"Frost, will you and Nailia stand next to each other," Neo asks while holding up his phone.

I laugh, "I don't think that's possible. She doesn't like me, and I quote, 'I'm not her sister'."  Nailia rolls her eyes while slinging an arm around me.

"Shut up and smile," she says and I smile. A flash goes off.

Neo quickly hands me his phone and pulls out a milk bottle from his backpack. "Here baby girl," he puts the bottle up to August's mouth and she instantly starts drinking it.

I don't even think my dad knew how to hold a bottle of milk.

"We look hot," Nailia states in approval. I roll my eyes and hand Neo his phone back.

Suddenly, I'm startled by arms wrapping around me. "Hi, Frost!"

I pry myself away, turn around, and nearly faint.

Well, not faint. That's too dramatic, but I was surprised.

"Rose? What are you doing here?" Rose smiles at me and hands me a big thing of cotton candy.

Yum.

"It's my niece's birthday! I and my family are here celebrating it. I'm just surprised to see you here!" she explains while looking at Nailia. "Hi, I'm Rose."

"The name is Nailia," Nailia points to herself.

"She's my sister," I state with a mouthful of cotton candy.

Rose nods slowly, "I can tell. You both have very similar features."

"What! Tell me what they are right now!" Nailia demands as if its a crime to look like me.

"W-Well you both have the same eye color, and eye shape... a-and the same lips, and head shape?" Rose stammers. I apologize for Nailia's sudden outburst and watch as a little girl runs up to Rose.

"Rose! The otters are out, can we go see 'em? Can we?" the little girl tugs on the bottom of Rose's dress.

"Yes," Rose answers and starts walking away, "Bye! It was nice seeing you!"

"Woah, look at that one." I point to a huge lion sleeping on a rock. "Oh and look at that one!" I point to a baby lion, chasing its tail.

Neo chuckles while snapping some pictures. Nailia kneels down to the glass where a cheetah is lying against it. It stares back at her and flicks its tail.

"Want to get lunch girls?" Neo asks us. I raise my hand and clear my throat.

"This just in, Neo Springwater asked us if we wanted food. I mean, what kind of question is that?!"

"Springwater?"

"Yeah... I don't know your last name." I explain and Nailia snickers.

He laughs, "It's Potter."

Oh...

My...

God...

"Potter? As in Harry Potter? Lily and James Potter?! Oh my god, my mom is fooling around with a Potter." I gasp and he laughs.

"Not like that you idiot!" Nailia smacks the back of my head. I hiss and smack her head back.

"He said his last name was Potter! Do you even know who Harry Potter is?! Do you at least know who Professor Snape is? Aka, my spirit animal when I'm grumpy."

"No..."

Gasp.

"Turn to page 394,"

"You girls are too much," Neo wheezes with laughter.

We got a spot on the grass by the elephant show so we could watch while eating.

I dig through my backpack to see what kind of foolishness my mom packed me. I pull out Goldfish, fruit snacks, a Hershey bar, some of the cookies, a granola bar, and a Subway sandwich.

"She acts like I never ate a day in my life!" I exclaim while showing them my food. I start unwrapping my sandwich, secretly try handing August a piece of lettuce. She doesn't even try to hold it, letting it drop to the ground.

I shake my head, "You're going to regret not eating a little bit of healthy food. You'll end up like me,"

I take a big bite of my sandwich, "Which is beautiful, and physically unhealthy." I smile at her and let a piece of pickle fall out of my mouth.

Neo lies on his back, laughing his booty off.

"Ma? We're home." I yell into the house while walking in. The house is weirdly quiet apart from some quiet chatter as I stroll into the living room. Maybe she's plotting some way for me to get rich.

I halt with a gasp when I see who my mom is talking to. Cole and Nova watch me with surprised looks, more Nova than anything.

I narrow my eyes at Nova and clench my teeth.

"Care to explain, mom?"
