Chapter 1031 Gone Mad

Ayan curled his lips into a cold smile, his expression indifferent as he

stared at the tablet screen. He instinctively leaned back in his leather

chair, his voice cool and aloof. "Bullying? Well, if they think I'm bullying

people, then it would be a disservice to the charges they've put on me if

I don't do something.”

"Are you saying you won't respond?” Kian asked in a low voice,

watching the man's icy black eyes. He dared not even breathe too

loudly.

Ayan squinted, the depths of his eyes shrouded in coldness. His voice

rumbled, "What should I respond? Whatever I say would be

inappropriate. So, I'll say nothing. The Armstrong family wants to

escape responsibility and continue blaming the Wesley family, right?

Let the Wesley family come forward and respond. If the Wesley family

responds, I can let go of the matter from yesterday and let them deal

with the Armstrong family."

He had concerns due to Camille's connection to the Armstrong family.

While Ayan didn't mind the gossip or being the target of public opinion,

he had to think about Camille. Though her relationship with the

Armstrong family was distant, causing a big scene might lead to public

backlash, and he couldn't allow that.

Ayan had to endure, using this method to pressure the Armstrong

family to back off. However, he had no intention of sparing anyone else

except the Armstrong family. The media had held him in high regard,

thinking he was afraid of public opinion. Ayan would ensure they were

thoroughly disappointed.

Ayan turned his gaze to Kian and instructed, "Personally investigate the

background of this media outlet. I can't believe there's nothing we can

use against them. Then send it directly to their person in charge and let

them make a choice. No matter what they choose, the result will be

their complete disappearance from Hance."

Kian wasn't surprised by Ayan's decision. He nodded and replied,

"Alright, I'll look into it."

"By the way, have there been any developments with Eileen and

Preston lately?" Ayan suddenly asked.

Given the recent events and his busy schedule, he hadn't paid much

attention to Preston and Eileen. Still, he had kept tabs on them.

Kian answered, "There haven't been any developments. Eileen

contacted me a few times, wanting to meet with you, probably work-

related. As for Preston, it's like he's disappeared.”

"Disappeared?" Ayan scoffed. "How could he disappear when he hasn't

achieved his goals yet?"

Kian explained, "He's staying in a very low-profile place. As long as he

doesn't show himself, it's challenging to locate him."

"Has he compensated?"

“Yeah, he has, but it wasn't transferred from his personal account. It's

from an untraceable name."

"Keep a closer eye on things. Focus on the Armstrong family; now that

they're spreading messages online, I know Preston well enough to

believe he won't miss such a good opportunity.” Ayan's face was cold,

things were getting more complicated, and what Preston was going to

do is still a mystery.

Grandpa seemed to be hiding something, and so did the Armstrong

family.

In this case, Ayan took every step in the light, while Preston was in the

dark. Ayan would be in more danger.

But at that moment, it became clear to him that the Armstrong family

hadn't said anything about Elijah. Brody, who was willing to sacrifice

anyone for his own good, shouldn't have reacted this way. Rather than

being silent, as he is now, without much emotion or reaction, which is

totally out of character for Preston.

As Ayan finished speaking, Kian promptly left the office to attend to

these matters.

The Simpson family, of course, knew about this matter. Initially, Brody's

divorce statement had made the Simpson family concerned. However,

Ayan promptly responded, claiming it was an technical issue, so the

Simpson family didn't bother Camille and Ayan or ask too many

questions about it.

But early in the morning, the media released a recorded conversation

through the media, and the voices in the conversation matched

perfectly with the surveillance video. Even if they tried to use advanced

technology, there was no way they could find a flaw.

The Simpson family listened to the complete conversation in its entirety.

Due to the Old Simpson's health condition, Fletcher and Talia couldn't

tell him about this. Although the Old Simpson didn't pay much attention

to online matters, he had a habit of reading newspapers, and if he

found out, he would worry.

So, after consulting with Talia, Fletcher decided to call Ayan, and Talia

called Camille.

Ayan and Camille received the calls almost simultaneously.

When Talia called Camille, she was sitting on the office couch,

discussing the recorded conversation with Sienna. Camille was the first

to notice it, as Yessica was the company's source of gossip. Any

important news would be relayed through her.

Camille often teased Sienna, saying she used her salary to browse

through gossip, especially Camille-related gossip.

When Yessica informed Camille, she was tempted to call Ayan right

away to inquire about the situation. However, Ayan was probably very

busy at the moment, so she decided not to disturb him.

She looked at Sienna and asked, "Could it be that she's calling to scold

me?"

"She loves you too much. Why would she scold you? Answer it

quickly!" Sienna said with a smile.

Camille took a deep breath; she was feeling a lot of pressure. After all,

this was coming from the Armstrong family, and no matter what, she

carried the Armstrong name. Some responsibility couldn't be avoided.

She pursed her lips and found the courage to answer the call. "Hello,

Mom."

Talia immediately replied, "Hi, are you busy?"

“Not at all. What's up?" She asked in a hushed voice. Today, she wasn't

supposed to come to the office and go directly to the Simpson's

mansion. Still, she came to the office to cooperate with Ayan in their

act. Now, she felt relieved she had done that because she wasn't sure

how to face Fletcher, Talia, and the Old Simpson at the mansion.

Camille's words were somewhat nervous and anxious, and Talia could

tell. Her voice turned gentle, "It's nothing. I just wanted to chat with you.

Is now a good time?"

"It's a good time. What would you like to talk about?"

"Have you seen the things online?"

"Yeah, you mean the recording, right? I've seen it. Mom, I don't know

how to explain this to you. Would you believe me if I said I had no idea

about it from the beginning?"

Talia sensed her daughter's anxiety and concern in her words. She

smiled and said, "Cami, are you nervous?"

Camille didn't respond because she wasn't sure what Talia meant.

Talia continued, "Don't be nervous. Don't worry. Okay? I believe in you,

and so does Fletcher. We know it has nothing to do with you. Grandpa

still doesn't know about this. It's best if he never knows, so he doesn't

start worrying."

“Yeah, you're right."

"I called you to ask about the details, you know?"

Camille took a deep breath, her face slightly solemn. Her voice was low

as she said, "If I had to pinpoint a reason, it's probably because of me."

Facing Talia, Camille didn't hide anything and detailed everything that

had happened since the night the Armstrong family had called her

back.

She spoke in a soft voice, and Talia listened quietly. After Camille

finished, Talia's first reaction was, "Has the Armstrong family gone

mad?"

Talia's tone was somewhat agitated, and she said, "What's going on in

their heads? Even if they don't care about you, why would they treat

you this way?"
