Chapter 1058: Benefits

Camille fixed her gaze on Ayan without blinking, not missing any of his

reactions.

Her scrutiny made Ayan smile, and he gently asked, "Why are you

looking at me like this? Worried that I'm keeping something from you?"

"Yes, so should you?" Camille didn't deny it and nodded directly in

response.

Her direct and honest approach elicited a smile from Ayan. He smirked,

"What are you talking about?"

“It's about the Armstrong family."

“No, I don't. I don't care about the Armstrong family's matters unless

they're related to you. So I have no idea what you're referring to."

Ayan's response was calm, and his expression didn't reveal much.

Camille wondered if he was telling the truth or not.

Camille kept a serious expression, and she didn't immediately speak.

Her silence made Ayan squint his eyes and ask, "Why aren't you saying

anything?"

Camille pursed her lips, seeming somewhat hesitant. She said, "I don't

know if this is true or false. I thought you might know more than I do, so

I wanted to ask."

"So, what exactly are you talking about?"

"She said that Dad has someone else outside, and her coldness and

neglect towards me are just attempts to please Dad. She wants me to

cooperate with her to take over Armstrong Corp and everything related

to the Armstrong family,” Camille said with a self-deprecating smile and

a mocking glint in her eyes.

Ayan also furrowed his brow slightly, and his voice turned cold, like ice.

"So, what benefits can you gain from this?"

“Probably a bit of maternal love that has no use for her,” Camille said

with a chilly smile and a cold tone. She continued, "Honestly, I don't

believe her. Even if what she said is true, I don't trust her ultimate

motives. If she can endure silently for her benefit all these years, why

tell me now? Isn't she afraid I'll tell Dad? After all, I can cooperate with

her, just like with Dad."

Camille found the terms "mom" and "dad" quite ironic, and she couldn't

even bring herself to say them aloud. She wasn't sure how to address

them with her current feelings.

Listening to Camille's words and observing her expression, Ayan

realized she was in a bad mood. He took her hand, and in a low,

serious tone, he asked, "So, you wanted to ask me if I knew about

this?"

"Yes," Camille nodded, explaining, "I don't even know if it's true or false.

So, wasn't it logical to assume you might have more information than

me?"

Ayan's expression turned slightly more serious. Although it wasn't a

major issue, it did have some relevance to Camille, so he needed to be

sincere.

After a brief moment of silence, he said, “This matter needs further

investigation because I genuinely don't know. However, if it's true, it will

come to light sooner or later, it's just a matter of time."

"What's the point of knowing? For me, it seems to have neither benefits

nor drawbacks, as I didn't cause this situation. I also don't believe that

cooperating with her will earn me genuine maternal love, and I won't

use methods I dislike to please her. If the maternal love I get in return

isn't sincere and is based on personal gain, I don't want it. I can't afford

it."

Camille vented her frustrations and emotions, and it was only in front of

Ayan that she could openly express all her feelings without restraint.

Although she would also confide in Sienna, she couldn't reveal too

much to her. Most of the time, she appeared strong, as if nothing was

wrong. Camille didn't want Sienna to worry too much or confront those

who treated her poorly on her behalf. She didn't want Sienna to be

anxious and distressed because of her anger.

But with Ayan, she didn't have these reservations. Perhaps she felt that

Ayan could provide her with enough security, so she genuinely wanted

to rely on him and share all the negative emotions in her heart.

Ayan understood her mentality well and knew what she was thinking.

So when she finished speaking, Ayan quickly responded, "If you don't

want it, we won't do it. It's not that we can't afford it. Whatever you

want, I can satisfy you. If they treat you badly, our parents treat you

well, isn't that enough? If she wants to use you, just stay away and

ignore her. If she continues to bother you, tell her directly that if she

doesn't want your conversations to reach her husband's ears, she

shouldn't contact you anymore. Otherwise, you can't guarantee what

you might do.”

Ayan patiently advised Camille on how to deal with Page. Even though

Page was Camille's mother, Ayan didn't care who it was as long as they

treated her poorly or made her unhappy.

Camille nodded gently, and she moved closer to Ayan, leaning into his

embrace. She asked with some concern, “I've been talking about these

trivial matters. Won't you find it boring or annoying? After all, Mr.

Simpson's time should belong to orders in the millions and projects

worth billions."

Ayan comforted her with a soft voice, saying, "Not at all. Whatever you

want to say, no matter how trivial, I'm willing to listen anytime,

anywhere. I'm also willing to provide you with the most thoughtful

advice and solutions. Okay?"

Camille was delighted and tilted her head slightly, looking at his jawline.

She reached out and gently touched it, then leaned in to give him a

kiss. She whispered, "You're really wonderful.”

Ayan lowered his gaze to meet her eyes and chuckled softly. "Do you

feel better now?"

"Yes," Camille nodded.

He then asked, "Do you want to come with me to Dane?"

“No, I won't. I've been quite busy recently, and isn't Grandpa going to

the hospital in a few days? I need to go to the Simpson's mansion and

convince him to cooperate with his treatment. Otherwise, it won't make

sense to talk to Dad. Grandpa is really stubborn.”

Ayan nodded, feeling reassured with Camille staying at the Simpson's

mansion. At least the old Simpson would listen to Camille. If both

Camille and him left Hance, Fletcher and Talia would have a field day

with the old Simpson.

He said, "Thank you for taking care of Grandpa. I'll be back in two days

at most. So, for these two days, if you need to go to the Simpson's

mansion, have the driver take you. If you need to return home at night,

you can accompany Sienna. The maid doesn't need to take a break;

she can stay at home with you, okay?"

"Alright," Camille knew he was concerned about her, but she couldn't

help but tease, "You really act like an overprotective mother."

"Absolutely, I'd love to carry you in my pocket and take you

everywhere."

“Then give it a try," Camille laughed.

Ayan smiled and then simply embraced her. In a husky voice, he said,

"Really want me to try?"

Listening to his husky tone, Camille shivered for a moment and

instinctively tried to push him away. "Back off a bit. I'm a bit thirsty; I

need to get some water.”

She wanted to leave his embrace, but Ayan refused to let go. He

whispered, “I'm heading to Dane tomorrow morning, okay?"

"Ayan, can you keep your mind on more wholesome thoughts?"

Camille complained, causing Ayan to chuckle, "I can't think of anything

wholesome when I see you. Besides, you're not one for exercise

usually. I'm doing this for your own good, hoping you'll get some

physical activity. Is there something wrong with that?"

He adopted a tone that suggested he was doing it for her own good,

making Camille roll her eyes.

However, nothing came of it, as Ayan's phone rang at that moment.

It was Kian calling.

He looked somewhat displeased and reluctant to answer. Camille beat

him to it and pressed the answer button, and on the other end, Kian's

voice came through, "Mr. Simpson, Mr. Burris's secretary just contacted

me. Mr. Burris would like to meet with you now. Would you like to meet

him?"

Ayan furrowed his brows, his tone devoid of warmth. "Meet me now?

Did they mention the reason?"

"No, because it was the secretary who called, so I don't know why Mr.

Burris wants to see you," Kian replied in a low voice, as he had just

received the call and immediately contacted Ayan.
