Chapter 1069: On Guard
âYou know it, so be more smart!" Page snorted lightly.
"And what? Who's going to believe you?" Sienna was unafraid, devoid
of any sense of fear, with a face that wore a cold, disdainful smile. "This
is just your usual strategy. Do you think anyone would believe these
baseless rumors? Not everyone is as gullible as you. Your talent and
abilities are not that impressive; no one really respects you."
Sienna, indifferent to Page's reaction, picked up a damp towel, wiping
her hands, looking at Page with icy detachment.
This angered Page beyond measure. She raised her hand, ready to
slam it down on the table, but then she remembered they weren't at the
Armstrong family home or any familiar location, but instead were at the
Simpson's mansion.
Page didn't want to upset the Simpson family or let Talia, or any of the
Simpson family's servants, witness her aggression. So, she softly
lowered her hand onto the table, her voice laden with suppressed fury.
"Sienna, having friends like you is Camille's misfortune. You don't
realize you're harming her. We're family, and you're just an outsider. I'm
telling you, as Camille's mother, stay away from her."
Page sternly ordered Sienna to stop interacting with Camille. It might
have been very hurtful for a daughter's friend if spoken by a normal
mother. But coming from Page, Sienna was not moved.
Not only was she unaffected, but she even showed a smile and replied,
"Sorry, Mrs. Armstrong, you have no authority over this. You can't
control Camille's friendships. If you want to control who Camille
befriends, maybe you shouldn't have sent her away in the first place.
Then you could control her, just like you control Grace."
Sienna knew Grace's character and had interactions with her. She
couldn't help but speak up for Grace.
However, this casual remark sparked Page's attention.
Page disregarded whether Sienna was merely defending Grace or had
information about Grace's whereabouts. She believed Sienna knew
where Grace was based on her knowledge of Grace's current location.
Page abruptly stood from her chair, towering over Sienna, demanding,
"Do you know where Grace is? Did she contact you? Did you instruct
her not to contact us? Tell me! Is it you?"
Page was highly agitated, making Sienna slightly startled.
Page, interpreting Sienna's silence as confirmation, moved closer and
stared at her inquisition, saying, "Sienna, did you abduct Grace? Did
you tell her not to contact me? Tell me, where are you hiding her?"
Page blocked Sienna's way, questioning her like an enraged lion. This
momentarily left Sienna somewhat unresponsive, but she had no
intention of arguing with Page. She simply said, âI don't know what
you're talking about. If your daughter isn't contacting you, maybe you
should reflect on whether you have a reason for it."
Sienna didn't want to continue wasting her time on this person. She
had realized that Page was like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode
at any moment. It was almost as if she were crazy.
Sienna rose to leave, but Page blocked her path, making it impossible
for her to exit.
Sienna expressed her frustration, saying, "Could you please move
aside?"
Page, of course, refused to budge. Her tone became even more
agitated and louder as she interrogated, "Tell me, where is Grace?
Where are you hiding Grace?"
Page's emotions were extremely intense, and her eyes bore into
Sienna as if she wanted to devour her.
Page's loud voice immediately drew the attention of the maid at the
Simpson's mansion. She, witnessing the commotion, hurried outside to
call Talia and Camille.
After Camille left the dining room and returned to the living room, Talia
followed. Talia offered soothing words and tried to reassure Camille,
urging her not to worry and reminding her that Timmy was safe at the
Simpson's mansion, out of reach of anyone with ill intentions.
Camille understood and trusted Talia, so she nodded in agreement and
said, "Mom, I was just being angry with her."
Talia replied, "I know, that's why I invited her here today. I wanted to
show her that even without her presence, you and Timmy are doing just
fine, and you don't need her forced or reluctant attention.â
Camille felt touched and gazed at Talia with a grateful expression. She
was about to say something when the maid rushed back and informed
them, "Ladies, there's an argument inside. Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs.
Ward are having a heated dispute.â
Camille and Talia both paused, quickly grasping the situation.
Camille immediately got up from the couch, and Talia asked, "What's
going on?"
Talia and Camille walked toward the dining room while the
housekeeper followed, speaking in hushed tones, "Mrs. Armstrong is
extremely agitated, and she keeps pressing Mrs. Ward about Miss
Grace Armstrong's whereabouts."
As they neared the dining room, Camille hurried her steps.
The living room was separated from the dining room by a long corridor.
When Camille reached the entrance to the dining room, she could
already hear Page's questioning. Page's voice was loud and
demanding, "Why won't you speak? Did you conspire with Camille to
hide Grace? Tell me, where is Grace?"
Sienna remained composed, a cold expression on her face. She
responded, "It's your daughter, so you should ask yourself where she
is. I'm not your family's housekeeper tasked with keeping an eye on
your people.â
Sienna attempted to push past Page, but Page retaliated, saying,
"What's this? Do you want to get physical with me? You've hidden my
daughter, and now you're laying hands on your elder?"
Page's insolent tone prompted Camille to chime in. She said, "Who's
the one being physical now? You're clearly blocking someone's path
and then accuse them of getting physical with you?"
Camille reached out, firmly grasping Page's wrist, pulling her to the
side. Page was caught off guard and took several steps back, not
expecting Camille's sudden intervention. It was only with a maid's help
that Page avoided crashing into the wall behind her.
Page roughly shook off the maid's hand and fixed her piercing gaze on
Camille. She accused, "So, you're attacking your mother over an
outsider now?"
Camille looked at Page with indifference. There was no warmth in her
eyes, and her face remained expressionless. She responded with a
cold, deliberate tone, "What's an outsider? Do you think everyone other
than the Armstrong family is considered an outsider? Yet, you never
treat me as if I were one of your own. Based on your definition, these
so-called outsiders, who offered me help and support when I needed it
the most, are more like family to me than you, my so-called families."
After Camille finished speaking, Page's complexion grew even darker.
She took a couple of steps forward, her eyes filled with displeasure.
She glared at Camille and said, "You have no idea what's going on, and
you trust Sienna so readily? She was the one who disrespected me
first. She's been provoking me all along, knowing where Grace is but
refusing to tell me. Camille, Grace is your sister. Don't you want to
know where she is? Or are you implying that she's cut ties with the
family, and we can't find her because of your involvement?"
