Chapter 1082: Jealousy

Wasn't this thought quite normal?

So Camille didn't think there was anything wrong with it.

But Ayan believed Camille was upset, and his voice tensed as he

asked, "Are you angry?"

“I'm not angry. Why would you think that?" Camille couldn't understand

Ayan's perspective.

Ayan said, "Your attitude and tone toward me have changed. Is it

because I didn't appear by your side right away? Are you disappointed

in me?"

"Ayan, you were on a business trip, not on vacation. If you were

traveling and left Hance City, perhaps I'd have some emotions about it.

But you were working. I'm not a three-year-old child. Why would I be

disappointed? Besides, didn't I say this was just an accident? Accidents

are unpredictable for all of us. Even though you arranged for people to

protect me, they're human too, and they can make mistakes. So, I don't

think we need to be too harsh. Of course, I understand you're doing it

for my good. My saying this now might make it seem like you're the bad

one, and I'm the good one, but that's not what I'm thinking. These

discussions are just between us privately.”

Camille said a lot, but in reality, it wasn't a significant matter. She didn't

need to worry about how he managed his people because he had his

rhythm and style in dealing with such issues.

Of course, Camille knew that Ayan was acting in her best interest, and

he was concerned about her, which is why he was so anxious.

So Camille continued, "Ayan, I know you're worried about me, so I'll

also be careful. This incident is something neither of us wanted, but

we're fortunate it wasn't a big deal. I'm truly unharmed, so please don't

feel guilty or anxious anymore, okay?"

Ayan remained silent, listening to Camille's words quietly. Eventually,

he asked a question, “Do you think I'm putting too much pressure on

you?"

"I don't feel uncomfortable. I just don't want you to have too much

pressure. You've already done a great job, and you've protected me

well. Sometimes, unexpected things are things we can't prevent. As for

everything else, we've done well enough. I don't want you to feel guilty

and reflective just because I had a small accident.”

Sometimes, she wondered if Ayan in this marriage had become

increasingly submissive after their divorce.

Currently, Ayan loved her, and she could clearly feel it.

Because Ayan had her in his heart, Camille wanted an equal

relationship between them.

She had felt that way before, and she knew that loving someone deeply

could lead to losing oneself, whether or not the other person

recognized it. That kind of feeling was really hard to bear.

It was like holding onto quicksand tightly; the more you held, the more it

slipped away.

Later, she learned to let go and release her emotions, and it made her

feel more relaxed.

Of course, it wasn't because she stopped loving, but because she

learned how to love, which was a much better choice for both herself

and the other person.

The two of them chatted for a while. Ayan was a very intelligent person,

so he quickly changed the topic back to Jordan.

Ayan asked, "Why was he there?"

“I don't know. If you're curious, you should ask him. You two know each

other, right?" Camille smiled faintly and added, "Are you upset because

he helped me?"

This question had been on her mind for quite a while, and she couldn't

help but ask.

Ayan replied, "I'm not upset. I'm happy that he helped you. It's because

of him that you were in less danger. When I return to Hance City, let's

invite him to dinner!"

"Do we really need to do that?"

"Of course, he helped you. Treating him to a meal is the least we can

do. We should invite Rex too since Sienna helped as well. The cost of

the meal should be shared by both of them.”

Ayan's attitude made it seem like he was so short on funds that he had

to split the bill for a dinner invitation.

Camille found it amusing and asked, "Mr. Simpson, are you short on

money for a simple dinner invitation?"

“I'm not short of money, but it's the principle. Rex shouldn't get a free

ride, right?"

"Are you sure you two are friends and not enemies?"

“They're pretty much the same!" Ayan said, "I'm leaving early tomorrow

morning, so let's have dinner tomorrow night. Call him and set a time,

okay?"

"Are you sure?" Camille still didn't think it was necessary. After all, as

Jordan had pointed out, she had helped Jordan's mother, Mrs. Bailey,

so there was no need for dinner.

But Ayan insisted, “I'm sure."

Camille couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you the one who wanted to avoid

too much contact with Jordan? The Wesley family's situation in Chesen

City is quite chaotic. If they know we have frequent contact with Jordan,

we might be disturbed.”

"The Wesley family won't really come after me, and we have Rex,

right? Both the Simpson family and the Ward family are here, so the

Wesley family won't have the guts to act recklessly.”

Ayan's reasoning was sound, and Camille didn't argue further.

At this point, Ayan suddenly asked, "Did the Wesley family in Chesen

City not bother you?"

Camille replied, "No."

"Good," Ayan said in a low tone.

The two chatted for about an hour. During this time, Sienna gave them

some space and went to the kitchen to check on the progress of dinner.

Although they had eaten not long ago, the sight of the cook preparing

the meal made Sienna feel a bit hungry.

After the conversation with Ayan, Camille suddenly remembered

Sienna and went looking for her in the living room.

Hearing Camille's footsteps, Sienna turned her eyes toward her and

asked in a soft voice, "Finished chatting?"

Camille replied, "Finished." She let out a sigh and said tiredly, “Talking

to Mr. Simpson is exhausting. It's fine when he's in front of me, as I can

make him stop talking directly, but over the phone, if I don't address his

concerns, it might affect his work. I'm a considerate person, and I can't

have that, right? It took a while to get him to open up, and I'm

exhausted. I don't have any energy left."

Sienna gave a soft hum and said, "Alright, you've found another excuse

for someone threatening you. Next time I see Mr. Simpson, I'll be sure

to tell him."

Camille sarcastically responded, “Thank you!" She let out a soft hum,

took a box of pre-cut fruit from the fridge, and brought Sienna back to

the living room. The two of them snacked on fruit, and Sienna couldn't

help but ask, "Is Ayan upset because of that Jordan guy?"

Camille shook her head and replied, "Don't jump to conclusions. It's not

like that. He knows Jordan as well."

Sienna raised an eyebrow and said, "I actually think he might be upset

because he's so jealous. You shouldn't underestimate a man's jealousy.

It can go way beyond our imagination.” After her comment, Camille was

also slightly taken aback. But Jordan was someone Ayan was aware of,

and he had a clear understanding of their connection.

Camille shook her head again, thinking Sienna was overthinking things.

She said, "Let's drop this topic. He's not that kind of person. By the

way, when you get back, tell Mr. Ward that we're having dinner together

tomorrow night. After all, Jordan helped us today, and Ayan wants to

treat them. Your family should split the bill as well."

Sienna was momentarily stunned and rolled her eyes, saying, "Your

Ayan is quite thrifty!"

Camille replied, “It can't be helped. We all have businesses to run, and

we have children to support. You two don't have kids, so you might not

understand the financial pressures kids bring. Please try to

understand.”

Sienna huffed and said, "Fine, now you're already siding with Ayan.

Looks like our friendship is taking a hit." She finished her comment with

a hint of annoyance and skewered a piece of fruit with a fork, biting into

it with a bit of teeth-gritting, as if the fruit represented her frustration

towards Camille.
