Chapter 1092: Tricks

Ayan glanced at Rex with disdain. "You better not show that face of

yours in front of Sienna. Otherwise, she might start suspecting some

connection between you and Molly's unborn child.”

Rex quickly responded, "I'm just curious. You're using Molly to control

Preston, right? While I'm more interested in Preston than Molly. He's

been prancing around for too long, doing so many disgusting things.

When do you plan to deal with him?"

Ayan didn't respond immediately. He silently looked out the window.

Although he was aware of the Walker family's movements, he

genuinely didn't care if Molly's child would stay. He didn't believe that

Molly keeping the child would truly restrain Preston.

After all, Preston was entirely self-centered. He could have used

Molly's pregnancy to try to control the Walker family, but it backfired,

leading to his current predicament. This meant that his previous efforts

with the Walker family had been in vain. So, why would he give up his

resentment and grievances against Molly for a child?

Ayan squinted his eyes slightly, his expression becoming more

indifferent. The car was nearing Franklin Bay.

His voice broke the silence again, saying, "Whether Molly has a child or

not probably doesn't matter much to Preston. In his eyes, there's only

self-interest. He won't let a child become his weakness. Now, he's

aligning himself with the Armstrong family, probably thinking they offer

him some advantage. When the Armstrong family finds him useless,

he'll treat them the way he treated the Walker family.”

"Shouldn't you be more cautious? The Armstrong family is your in-law,

and even though your relationship isn't good, if something really

happens, your wife might be heartbroken. After all, the last time

Armstrong Corp had an issue, she went through a lot to fix it!"

Rex's words halted Ayan's expression.

His deep eyes revealed a cold, detached demeanor, with a hint of icy

warmth, as if Rex's words had touched a nerve.

The rest of the journey remained silent. The driver took them to the

villa, and Ayan got out first. The driver then took Rex to the neighboring

house.

Standing at the doorway, Ayan looked at the dim light in the bedroom,

took a silent deep breath, and then entered without saying a word.

Ayan returned home, and Camille hadn't gone to bed yet.

It wasn't particularly late, as Camille had just finished chatting with

Sienna, so sleep was far from her mind.

Ayan pushed open the bedroom door, and the person lying on the bed

immediately looked up. "You're back!"

The warm feeling of someone waiting was something only those who

had experienced it could truly appreciate.

Ayan's gaze softened as he walked over at a leisurely pace, taking off

his coat and hanging it nearby. He stopped by the bedside and asked,

"Why haven't you slept?"

"Waiting for you," she replied playfully, making Ayan's eyes even more

profound.

Ayan's voice was slightly husky as he said, “So, you're clinging to me

now?"

"Don't you like it?"

"I do," he admitted without hesitation.

Camille blinked at him and asked, "Why were you out for so long? Who

were you with?"

She hadn't asked before he left.

Ayan truthfully shared with her the details of his meeting. Camille

nodded along, then, with a hint of surprise, asked, "Horace too? Are

you planning to collaborate with him now?"

"Yeah, that's the plan.”

"Is it because of Grace and me?"

“That's a part of it. But specifically, it's because Horace is a good guy,

and he has the resources I need. He's done well in investments, and

we'll need his expertise for risk assessment in Simpson Group's

projects in the second half of the year. So, I'm planning to collaborate

with him."

Ayan was honest in his response, even if it pertained to work matters.

Camille simply told him, "As long as you see value in the collaboration,

that's good. I don't want you to establish a connection with Horace just

because of me and Grace. Work is work, and life is life."

"I understand,” he replied in a low voice.

Camille smiled at his response.

Then, he brought up another matter, “I need to tell you something.”

"What is it? Go ahead!"

"Has Preston contacted you recently?"

Camille hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "No, we haven't

been in touch since the last incident with the money.”

Ayan continued, "Recently, he has aligned himself with the Armstrong

family. He helped them resolve the issue with the Wesley family. I don't

know how he managed to make the Wesley family drop the matter with

the Armstrong family, but he did. He also obediently returned to Chesen

City. However, I suspect he used some unsavory means."

Camille's expression immediately turned serious. Her eyebrows

furrowed deeply as she asked, "Preston is helping the Armstrong

family?"

Camille was extremely shocked and surprised by this turn of events.

Because she thought it was impossible.

Probably because of her, Preston had always shown disdain towards

the Armstrong family, especially considering their mistreatment of her.

He had even proposed to teach them a lesson multiple times.

So, hearing Ayan say this, she couldn't help but feel disbelief.

Seeing Camille's incredulity, Ayan pulled over a nearby chair, sat in

front of her, and gently took Camille's hand. In a soft voice, he said,

"Well, he officially joined Armstrong Corp this afternoon, taking over

Grace's position and responsibilities.”

Ayan continued, "I got wind of this news immediately. Uncertain

whether it was a long-term move or just a temporary play, I had a

conversation with Horace tonight to confirm that Preston is now relying

entirely on the Armstrong family and your father. As for what he offered

to make the Armstrong family agree, both Horace and I suspect it's a

condition enticing enough to capture their interest. What kind of

condition would make the Armstrong family intrigued? Eight or nine

times out of ten, it's probably a promise to reclaim Armstrong Corp from

Horace."

The more Ayan spoke, the more grim Camille's expression became.

She remained silent, her facial expression stiffening.

Squinting slightly, she stared at Ayan, saying, "Hasn't he considered the

possibility of becoming the second Walker family?"

Camille didn't want to delve too deep into analyzing who Preston was.

After all, standing in her position, she couldn't say too much. But

considering the recent events with the Walker family, shouldn't the

Armstrong family be more cautious? How could Brody agree to

cooperate with Preston?

The more Camille thought about it, the more she found it hard to

understand what was going through Brody's mind.

Even though Camille believed Armstrong Corp had nothing to do with

her, she didn't want to attract any unnecessary trouble.

Although this matter had nothing to do with her, and she hadn't

revealed her involvement, based on her understanding of the

Armstrong family, if something went wrong and caused losses for

Armstrong Corp or the Armstrong family, they would likely shift all the

blame onto Camille.

Because they had done such things before.

So, upon hearing this news, Camille felt uneasy and anxious. Her

expression turned cold and serious as she looked at Ayan. "Do you

think I'm overthinking?"

Ayan shook his head slightly, his voice consistently gentle. “It's not that

you're thinking too much. It's just that there are things we have to

consider more, or else, even if we haven't done anything, we might still

be implicated and affected if something does happen.”

Listening to Ayan, Camille's heart became even more chaotic.

She asked, "What should we do now?"

"Don’t worry. I'm not telling you this to make you anxious. I just want

you to have an idea. After all, you also have shares in Armstrong Corp

under your name. Although you've handed it over to Horace to manage,

if something does happen to Armstrong Corp, you might step in just like

before, without hesitation." Ayan gently rubbed Camille's palm, his gaze

probing into hers.
