Chapter 1094: Coincidence

Camille held her breath, quietly taking a deep breath, trying not to dwell

on any of his inquiries. She said, "I'm not trying to intervene or question

your decisions. I just want to know why you're doing this. Aren't you

aware of the many things that happened between Preston and Ayan?

Aren't you afraid of offending Ayan and the Simpson family by doing

this?"

She attempted to make Brody regret his actions by appealing to his

most cherished interests.

However, Brody responded, "Why should I be afraid of offending Ayan

and the Simpson family? Do you think using the Simpson family and

Ayan to pressure me is effective? Do you see the Simpson family as

superior to the Armstrong family in your eyes?"

Camille didn't expect her words to lead to a misunderstanding, but she

had no intention of offering any explanations. She simply pressed her

lips together, looking at Brody with a calm expression. She said, “Think

whatever you want. If you believe that, then so be it. Regardless of any

cooperation between you and Preston, I want to make it clear that we

don't have the same kind of partnership as before. We're just regular

friends now. So, if you're cooperating with him because you think we're

friends and it puts you at ease, I suggest you dispel that notion. If

anything happens, I won't take any responsibility, and I won't be

involved. I'm making this clear now so that you won't blame me when

things go south.”

Camille spoke a lot, but her words only fueled Brody's dissatisfaction.

He coldly questioned, “Do you think I would wrongly accuse you if

something happens? Camille, how can your thoughts be so narrow?

What do you take the Armstrong family for? Do you think we're just a

burden to you? How can you have such a mean-spirited idea?"

Camille smiled lightly. She calmly said, "If that's what you want to

believe, go ahead. Anyway, no matter what I say, you won't believe it,

and you won't listen. I came here today just to tell you my thoughts, to

express myself. In short, no matter how you interpret it, I won't be

responsible for any issues that arise from your cooperation with

Preston. It has nothing to do with me. Can you agree to that?"

Brody remained silent, gazing at Camille with indifference. This

response made Camille uncomfortable. She pressed, "Can you?"

Brody still didn't answer, prompting even Sienna to chuckle. Sienna

remarked, "Mr. Armstrong, you really know how to dodge the issue.

Camille's words are clear enough. Why won't you just answer? Are you

afraid that if something really happens, no one will take the blame for

you?"

Sienna's gaze made Brody's eyes instantly turn cold. Brody repeated,

"This is a matter concerning the Armstrong family. It's none of your

business, just a friend."

Sienna wasn't afraid of Brody at all. She snorted and said indifferently,

"I don't want to know anything about your Armstrong family affairs, let

alone get involved. But what can I do? Your Armstrong family always

bullies my friend while she sleeps. What kind of behavior is this? You're

just exploiting Cami. You refuse to take responsibility when there's a

problem, and you won't share benefits. Such things are unbelievable.

It's ridiculous.”

Brody was furious; his breathing became heavier. He criticized, "Look

at what kind of friends you've made. Look at what kind of friends they

are. Do you still plan to continue associating with them, Camille? Are

you just going to watch your friends treat your father like this without

doing anything?"

Camille looked at Brody expressionlessly, her eyes showing no

emotion. Because whether it was Brody or Page, their words were

always the same. Camille was well aware that their focus was on their

own interests. If Camille was of no use to them, they would treat her as

expendable. If Camille were ever sold off, they probably wouldn't care.

But once they thought Camille had value, they wouldn't need Camille to

approach them; they would come to her.

Just like now.

This differential treatment wasn't the first time, and Camille knew it well.

She pressed her lips together, squinting slightly, a hint of coldness in

her eyes. Her voice was icy as she said, "The kind of friends I have is

not for anyone to judge. As long as I find them good, they are good. I

don't need anyone's opinion. So, there's no need to speak so harshly

and critically.”

"You..."

Brody glared at Camille.

But Camille didn't give him any chance. She spoke again, her tone

frosty, "The purpose of my visit today is to tell you that whatever

cooperation you have with Preston has nothing to do with me. I'm only

friends with Preston; we have no other relationship. So, don't use the

pretext of being nice to me to do things I'm completely unaware of. If

you really do that, I won't acknowledge it. Furthermore, you better know

when to cut your losses and not become the second Walker family."

Camille finished speaking, not bothering to look at Brody any longer,

and she moved her gaze away. She said to Sienna, "Let's go!"

Sienna nodded lightly, and the two of them intended to leave.

However, just as they turned around, before they could take a step, a

man's voice rang out slowly from ahead, "Cami, do you really see me

as unworthy and untrustworthy?"

Hearing the voice, Camille immediately looked up. Their eyes met, and

she looked at the man with a faint gaze, a hint of surprise and shock

passing through her eyes.

This was too much of a coincidence, wasn't it?

She had just arrived not long ago, and it was still early in the morning.

How could Preston be here?

Did Brody tell him?

But Brody hadn't checked his phone since she arrived, so it seemed

unlikely. Was it just a coincidence?

Camille frowned, her eyes showing a sense of confusion. After all, if

Preston overheard what she just said, it might seem like she was

talking badly about him.

However, Camille thought for a moment. What she said didn't seem

false; it seemed to be things that had actually happened. So, why

should she feel guilty?

As Camille hesitated, Preston's voice rang out again. He said, "Cami,

why won't you respond to me?"

Camille looked at him, her voice lacking warmth as she said, "It's not

that I won't respond to you. I'm just thinking. I don't see any problem

with what I said. Of course, I don't think poorly of you. I'm just

reminding the Armstrong family to think carefully before making any

decisions. This way, they won't regret it when unexpected things

happen.”

"Would you regret cooperating with me? Cami, have I done something

to hurt you?"

Preston's questioning didn't receive a response from Camille. Her

silence made Preston smile bitterly.

Preston said, “Cami, so in your eyes, I'm that unworthy, huh?"

Camille remained silent, just looking at him.

Sienna, standing beside them, said with exasperation, "Do you really

care so much about how she sees you?"

"Of course!" Preston responded without hesitation.

Sienna said, "If you care so much, why do things that people find

annoying? If you care, then why not avoid doing things people dislike?"

Preston looked at Camille and asked, "Cami, have I done something

you dislike? Can you tell me?"

Camille sighed silently. Honestly, she was already starting to feel

emotionally drained even so early in the morning.
