Chapter 1223: Disappointment

Camille naturally saw the name displayed on the screen and was

slightly taken aback. She asked, "Why is she calling at this time?"

“I don't know," Sienna said, raising her hand to her mouth, making a

hushing gesture, and then directly answered the call, "Hello!"

The person on the other end immediately greeted enthusiastically, "Are

you busy? Did I interrupt your work?"

"Not really, what's up?"

"Well, I just arrived from Flento City today and brought some local

specialties from there for you and Camille. I was wondering if you're

available. If so, let's have dinner together tonight. You probably haven't

had Flento City's local delicacies in a while, right?"

The call was from Crystal, and she was undeniably very enthusiastic.

This enthusiasm wasn't annoying; instead, it had a somewhat difficult-

to-refuse quality because she wasn't just enthusiastic but also very

sincere.

How many people could gather such an attitude?

However, Sienna didn't immediately agree. She instinctively looked at

Camille and locked eyes with her. She calmly responded to Crystal, "I

can't confirm right now because I still have some unfinished work. As

for Camille, I don't know if she has any other appointments. I'll ask her

later, okay?"

"Oh, I see. I thought you both weren't busy since it's afternoon tea time.

I've already arrived downstairs at your company, but it seems

inconvenient. In that case, why don't you come down to pick up the

things, or I can wait for you at the café downstairs?"

Crystal's words clearly revealed a sense of disappointment. After all,

she was very enthusiastic when making this call, but hearing Sienna's

uncertainty about availability made her feel a bit let down.

Sienna furrowed her brows slightly and said, "I'm really sorry. Wait for

me downstairs for a moment. I'll come down now."

Crystal agreed, and then the call ended.

Sienna sighed silently while holding her phone. "Crystal is downstairs.

She said she brought Flento City's local specialties for us and invited

us to have dinner together. I didn't agree, and she seemed

disappointed.”

Camille just nodded slightly and said, "Go down and get it."

Sienna nodded and left the office, heading downstairs.

As soon as Sienna came out of the building, she saw Crystal waving at

her, holding a large bag of things and jogging over.

Crystal asked, "Did I interrupt your work?"

“No, it's a good time for a break," Sienna said quickly, reaching out to

take the things from Crystal's hands. She added, "Why did you buy so

much? Actually, Hance City sells these things too. If we're craving

them, we can just buy them directly. It's too troublesome for you. Don't

bring them next time. Going back and forth is too tiring."

Sienna politely declined and said that she hoped Crystal wouldn't go

through the trouble again in the future. The items Crystal brought were

quite heavy, and Sienna assumed she had prepared a lot. Sienna knew

that the specialty snacks from Flento City weren't all available in one

place, so it would take a lot of effort and running around to gather them

all. It would be troublesome to ask a friend for help, and it would even

be more embarrassing if Crystal had personally gone to buy them.

However, Crystal didn't feel the slightest bit burdened. On the contrary,

she was quite happy and said, "It's okay, I have nothing better to do at

home anyway, and I also wanted to have some myself. So it's just a

side task for me, don't stress too much!"

Sienna smiled slightly and felt the atmosphere cooling down. So, she

initiated a conversation and asked, "How are the preparations for the

second round of the competition going?"

"We haven't started yet. I recently went back to Flento City, and I've

been playing around all these days without any thought of work. I was

afraid I would waste my time like this, so I hurried back. How about

you? How are your preparations going?"

"We're still in the preparation phase,” Sienna replied softly. Although

they were already well-prepared, she felt that reviewing everything

again after a few days might bring new insights. So, they were still in

the process of preparing.

Crystal said, "Well, you're definitely better off than me. You both are

experienced designers, so can I come to you if I have any questions?"

"Of course, we can learn from each other!"

"Don't be modest, I know your abilities.”

The two locked eyes, and it seemed like the topic was about to come to

an end. However, Crystal didn't show any signs of ending the

conversation. Instead, she asked, "And how about Cami? Is she still

busy?"

Since their encounter at the hot pot restaurant last time, Crystal had

started calling Camille "Cami" instead of “Architect.”

Such an intimate nickname was only used between friends, so Crystal

had directly classified herself as part of Camille's circle of friends.

Sienna stared at Crystal without blinking, unsure if it was her

imagination, but she felt a hint of nervousness in Crystal's current

demeanor.

After several seconds of unresponsive staring, Crystal asked, "What's

wrong?"

Sienna snapped back to reality and replied calmly, "Nothing." She

maintained a polite smile on her face, her voice unchanged as she

said, "She's busy, as you know. The company is hers, and she

personally handles many things. So, if you were to suggest meeting for

dinner, she genuinely might not have the time."

"Is she this busy lately?" Crystal casually asked.

Sienna nodded gently, “That's how it is in a small company. You have to

do everything yourself!"

"Why not hire more people so that you won't be so overworked?"

Crystal suggested.

"But that's how the operation model of a small company works. If we

hire too many people, then we'll be left with nothing!" Crystal nodded

along as if she suddenly understood, then couldn't help but complain,

“No wonder my brother says I don't know how to do business because I

have a simple mind."

Sienna looked at Crystal, who clearly had been spoiled since

childhood, and couldn't help but feel a bit envious. She smiled lightly,

still keeping her eyes fixed on Crystal, and said, "Running a business is

exhausting. It's better to focus on doing what you love. Camille and I

didn't really want to start a company in the first place. We just wanted to

pursue our passion through this avenue. That's why we don't want to

engage in diplomacy or cooperate with others. Honestly, it's quite

challenging. Most of the projects we work on now are old ones from the

past, so there isn't much hope for the company's future development.”

Crystal nodded along because she didn't fully understand these things,

but she knew that running a company was difficult, especially if it

involved doing something you didn't enjoy. However, she suddenly

seemed to think of something and asked, "What if I talk to my brother

and have him acquire your company? That way, you won't have any

worries, and you can focus on doing what you want. Everything else

can be handled by my brother.”

Sienna was quite surprised, but looking at Crystal's expression, it didn't

seem like she had approached them for this purpose. After all, it was

Crystal herself who brought up the topic of the company, so Sienna

dismissed her initial suspicions.

Sienna said, “There's no need for such trouble, and besides, Cami

doesn't like constraints and being controlled. Otherwise, she wouldn't

have started her own company in the first place, don't you think?"

"Well, that's true,” Crystal said. Then she asked, "After I secure a

position in the competition, can I apply to work as a designer in your

company?"

"I can't make that decision. You can directly ask Cami," Sienna replied.

Sienna wouldn't give a direct answer because Camille was the owner

of the company. Everything would depend on Camille's thoughts.

Although Sienna had a good relationship with Camille, she understood

the boundaries and knew that's why their friendship was growing

stronger. They would never use their close relationship as an excuse to

make decisions for each other.

After all, everyone is an individual, and everyone has different thoughts

and perspectives. Even with friends or family, no matter how close the

relationship, there should still be a basic sense of boundaries.
