Chapter 1254: Trouble
He said, "Alright then, since you've made up your mind, I won't force
you. But you have to promise me that no matter what happens at
home, you'll contact me immediately. My phone will be on at all times,
regardless of the time difference. Got it?"
Camille nodded, "Okay, I understand.â
Camille felt a slight sense of relief, but suddenly thought of a question,
so she quickly spoke up, "Is your trip abroad related to the Simpson
Group? Will it be made public?"
Ayan raised an eyebrow and calmly replied, âThere's no need to
deliberately disclose or conceal it. It's just a regular trip, nothing
important.â
However, Camille had concerns in her heart, so she quickly added, "I
think it's better to keep it a secret. If you go abroad, I'm worried that
those people will shift their attention to the Simpson family. If they find
out about Grandpa being hospitalized, it wouldn't be good to disturb
him."
Camille's words surprised Ayan a little, as he didn't expect her to
suddenly think so much. But what she said made sense, so he didn't
have any points to question.
In the end, he naturally agreed to Camille's suggestion. They continued
to talk about Ayan's trip abroad for a while, and Ayan asked Camille
what gifts she wanted, instructing her to make a list and send it to Kian,
so he could bring them back from overseas.
In truth, Camille didn't have strong desires for these things. Major
luxury stores in Hance City would send items to her doorstep every
quarter, whether it was bags, clothes, or jewelry. However, Camille
rarely wore them and only kept the ones she particularly liked as part of
her collection. Because it wasn't about having more things, the most
important thing was that she genuinely liked them.
But since Ayan asked, she didn't want to disappoint him, so she
nodded in agreement.
That night, they had a long conversation, and talking with Ayan helped
Camille forget about the events of the afternoon. Contrary to her
expectations, she didn't have trouble falling asleep.
Perhaps it was because Ayan was by her side.
The next day followed the same routine as before. They both went to
work and busied themselves throughout the day. On this day, Preston
didn't contact Camille, as if everything that happened yesterday was
just a dream.
Camille was absent-minded for most of the day, unable to fully focus on
her work due to her thoughts. Sienna noticed, but she didn't bring it up,
nor did she ask about it.
And so it continued until the end of the workday. Ayan came as
promised to pick her up for dinner. Tonight, Mario and Alicia were
absent, so there were fewer people.
Mario's secretary's response was that Mario was busy with something,
so he wouldn't be attending this dinner. As for any results, they could
be notified by phone. Mario's secretary didn't directly mention that
Mario had returned to Flento City, as if they didn't want anyone to know
about his whereabouts. Since that was the case, no one would reveal
the truth.
Before all the dishes were served, Ayan already said to Mr. Nores and
Horace, "The project will resume as usual, but I hope that the previous
incident won't happen again.â
Mr. Nores quickly nodded in agreement, then sincerely apologized to
Camille. After all, the one who made the mistake was not Mr. Nores
himself. Camille didn't hold it against him and just felt that it wasn't easy
for Mr. Nores, at his age, to apologize for his daughter's actions.
However, at the same time, she envied Alicia because she had a father
who would do such things for her, something Camille had never
experienced.
The rest of the dinner went relatively smoothly. During this time, of
course, Ayan had Kian contact Mario's secretary again and repeated
what Ayan had just said, asking the secretary to relay it truthfully to
Mario.
After ending the call, Ayan looked at Mr. Nores and asked, "What has
Mr. King been busy with lately? You're quite close to Mr. King, have you
heard him mention anything?"
Mr. Nores immediately replied, âTo be honest, I haven't. I won't hide it
from Mr. Simpson. Because of this incident, I also contacted Mr. King.
He said he would get in touch with Mrs. Simpson, but there hasn't been
any result. I guess Mr. King's own company has a lot going on, so he
hasn't had the time for it."
Mr. Nores was truly disappointed in Mario from the bottom of his heart.
He had already prepared a gift for Mario as a token of gratitude, but
Mario hadn't done anything at all. He was also grateful that Ayan had
called to have this dinner. Since they were going to resume
cooperation, they could consider it as everyone getting together.
However, Mario was absent.
During the meal, Ayan casually mentioned that Horace had contacted
Camille multiple times, which made Mr. Nores think that Ayan gave
Horace some face because of Armstrong Corp. After all, Armstrong
Corp was undeniably connected to Camille, so Mr. Nores naturally felt a
great sense of gratitude towards Horace.
However, Mr. Nores didn't want Ayan or Mario to know about this
gratitude. He planned to give the gift to Horace after the dinner as a
way to foster their relationship.
The dinner went relatively smoothly and ended around nine o'clock.
Afterward, everyone left the hotel together, and the driver was already
waiting at the door.
Mr. Nores warmly said goodbye to Ayan, personally opened the car
door for Ayan and Camille. All these actions were meant to show
goodwill and sincerity towards Ayan.
However, before the two could actually get into the car, Alicia appeared
out of nowhere. She walked up to the car door, and Mr. Nores noticed
her, his eyes filled with surprise as he asked, "How did you come
here?"
Alicia didn't respond and just stared at Ayan and Camille. She pursed
her lips, seemingly hesitant, but after a moment, she spoke up, "Mr.
Simpson, Mrs. Simpson, the previous incident was my fault. I'm truly
sorry. It was because of me that such a situation occurred, causing
trouble for both of you and affecting your mood. I'm really sorry!"
Alicia had long black hair flowing over her shoulders, her face was fair
and devoid of any makeup, and her eyes appeared somewhat empty
and indifferent. She seemed to be in a not-so-good state, as if she was
under a lot of pressure.
After she finished speaking, Ayan naturally didn't respond, and Mr.
Nores immediately tried to ease the atmosphere. He said, "Alicia, don't
delay Mr. Simpson and Mrs. Simpson from going home. This matter is
already in the past, so let's not bring it up again.â
After speaking, Mr. Nores reached out and pulled Alicia to the side, but
Alicia was stubborn. She still insisted on apologizing and said, "This
matter started because of me, so I should take full responsibility. As
long as Mr. Simpson and Mrs. Simpson are willing to forgive me, I'm
willing to do anything.â
Ayan glanced indifferently at Alicia, his gaze icy and sharp like that of a
hawk. He coldly said, "So you're threatening us? If we don't agree to
forgive you, you'll keep apologizing incessantly?"
Ayan's tone was particularly cold, his indifference suffocating, and the
atmosphere instantly became heavy.
Mr. Nores noticed the situation and once again tried to pull Alicia away,
but with Ayan present, he naturally couldn't get angry at Alicia directly.
He could only tug at her, but Alicia showed no reaction, as if she had to
be forgiven as Ayan had suggested.
Ayan also noticed Alicia's stubbornness, and his expression became
extremely cold. He snorted lightly and said indifferently, "Miss Nores, do
you think the tuition fees you paid were not enough? If you find it
insufficient, maybe Mr. Nores can pay a bit more. What do you think,
Mr. Nores?"
Ayan sneered, but his eyes showed no trace of amusement. They were
cold and sharp, reflecting indifference. His words were not to be
challenged lightly, and no one dared to question them.
Mr. Nores immediately spoke up, âMr. Simpson, it's my fault for not
teaching my daughter properly. I will definitely discipline her well. I hope
Mr. Simpson won't dwell on what just happened. It's getting late, so Mr.
Simpson and Mrs. Simpson should go back and rest!"
With Mr. Nores' words, he was trying to divert attention from the tense
situation and encourage Ayan and Camille to leave.
