Chapter 1263: Beautiful
"Am I despicable?" Preston sneered, his voice becoming particularly
grave. He said, "Cami, isn't that a bit too hurtful of you to say? If I were
truly despicable, do you think you could still talk to me like this? If I
were really despicable, I should have taken you away the last time."
His tone was filled with displeasure and anger. He let out a light snort,
his eyes filled with cold indifference, and his voice was full of
questioning.
Listening to his words, Camille naturally had no response.
The atmosphere became quiet as a result, but it was only a brief
moment of silence. The next second, Preston spoke again. He said, "I
want Ayan's itinerary. I need detailed records of his schedule. Cami,
don't deceive me. I don't know if you can deceive me, but if I find out
you're lying to me, you will pay the price.â
His words were full of threats, perhaps thinking that Camille wasn't
listening, so he repeated himself, "Cami, I can pamper you and treat
you well. I'm willing to fulfill your every desire, but it's on the condition
that I'm willing. If I'm not willing now, then you must do as I say.
Otherwise, I won't turn a blind eye."
Camille still didn't speak, not even a single response.
This made Preston extremely displeased. He no longer called her
"Cami" but addressed her by her name directly, "Camille, did you hear
what I said?"
His voice was filled with displeasure, and it was exceptionally cold.
Camille pursed her lips slightly, clearly ignoring his words.
But she didn't want to anger Preston right now. After a brief silence, she
said, "If you want the itinerary, it means you want me to intentionally
reveal my hand in front of Ayan. I never interfere with his schedule. If I
suddenly ask him for his itinerary, what excuse do you want me to use?
Do you think with Ayan's personality, he won't have any suspicions?"
Camille tried to dissuade Preston from wanting Ayan's schedule by
using this approach because she didn't want Preston to succeed and
she didn't want to help him with anything.
Camille's words were unknown whether Preston listened or not.
Preston was silent for just two seconds before calmly saying, âThat's
your problem. You figure it out. I only want a result, so I hope you can
deliver."
After saying that, he hung up the phone directly, without giving Camille
any opportunity to speak.
Looking at the hung-up phone, Camille's expression turned extremely
cold and indifferent. Her eyes revealed a deep chill, and her face
remained completely emotionless.
She held the phone without moving for a long time, her face reaching
the utmost level of indifference.
Preston wanted Ayan's schedule, which meant he wanted to do
something to Ayan. Camille would never agree or compromise, no
matter what.
However, if she didn't comply, Preston might resort to threatening her
again.
So she needed to think carefully about how to eliminate Preston's
threat while keeping Ayan's schedule a secret.
She thought deeply for a while and finally came up with a preliminary
answer.
But she needed to ask Ayan before deciding whether it would work or
not.
She put down the phone without video calling Timmy. She had no
mental capacity for it now. She went to take a shower and when she
came out of the bathroom, she saw that Ayan had also returned to his
room and was answering a phone call. She wondered who it was.
After a few minutes, the call ended, and he looked up at her.
Knowing that at this time, her usual habit was to video chat with Timmy,
but seeing her already finished with her shower, he casually asked,
"You're done chatting so soon tonight?"
Camille replied, "We didn't chat. I wanted to ignore him for a bit. After
all, you'll be going on a business trip soon, and I wanted to spend more
time with you. After you leave, I'll go back to the Simpson's mansion to
keep him company.â
"So, you love me more, right?"
"Yes, I love you more." Camille cooperated well, knowing that Ayan was
a jealous person, and even if it was Timmy's jealousy, he enjoyed it.
As Camille thought about it, she couldn't help but find it a bit funny. She
pretended to be calm and asked Ayan, "When you go abroad for the
project, who will be in charge of the Simpson Group here?"
âThere's a team to handle it, and my schedule won't be made public.
No one will know I've gone abroad."
"Then shouldn't I also play along and make everyone think you're still in
Hance City? In that case, I shouldn't go back to the Simpson's
mansion. I should stay here so that those who are watching us won't
suspect anything, right?"
âThere's no need to go through all that trouble. If you want to go back to
the Simpson's mansion, I'll have the driver pick you up. Just take my
car back.â
Camille nodded in agreement. "Okay."
The next day was the cocktail party, so it was natural to rest early and
conserve energy for the night.
Camille was Ayan's companion, so she naturally needed to attend in
formal attire. Rex and Sienna were also included in the invitation, as
well as the parents of the Armstrong family, since they were part of
Armstrong Corp. However, Fletcher and Talia didn't need to attend, as it
was a small gathering and there was no need for them to make an
appearance.
Nevertheless, many prominent figures from the wealthy and business
circles of Hance City were present. After all, with Ayan's presence,
attending the party was not only showing respect to him but also to
Simpson Group.
On the morning of the cocktail party, Camille made an appointment with
Sienna for a beauty treatment. Afterwards, they went together to
choose their dresses and had a makeup artist come to their place for
the makeup.
Both of them attached great importance to this cocktail party, so even
when Ayan and Rex returned to pick them up, they were still in the
midst of getting ready. The two men had no choice but to sit on the
couch and wait.
Time passed by, and now it was already past six in the evening. They
were planning to grab a bite to eat before heading to the party venue
later. However, judging by the progress of their makeup, it seemed
unlikely that they would be able to eat. So Ayan instructed the nanny at
home to cook some dumplings to fill their stomachs because the dinner
would only be served after the cocktail party, and they would have to go
hungry until around nine o'clock. Drinking some alcohol later was
inevitable.
The dumplings were cooked, and Ayan and Rex started eating.
Camille and Sienna were almost ready as well, but they had no
intention of eating. Sienna said, "It's been a long time since I attended
such a formal event. Don't make me eat, it might ruin my makeup."
Rex helplessly said, "It's just a small cocktail party. Why do you need to
dress up so beautifully?"
âI'm doing it for myself and for you."
"For me? That's something you can do at home."
âI don't need to spend so much time on myself at home. For this party
today, I can't let you lose face. Otherwise, people might say, âLook at
Rex's wife, she's so ordinary.â Sienna walked up to Rex and whispered,
âBesides, Mario will be there. Do you want him to think I'm better off
with the King family? Of course, I want him to see that I'm doing great
without the King family."
Otherwise, Sienna wouldn't have spent so much time on skincare,
makeup, and buying a dress. She even wore the diamond necklace her
mother-in-law gave her as a gift when they first met, hanging it around
her neck.
