Chapter 1293: Emotions

Ayan raised his gaze slightly after hearing the question, all eyes

focused on him. However, he simply said, "I don't have a better

proposal for now, but with a strong team that has good understanding

and loyalty, nothing will be difficult.”

He didn't know what Mr. Tillery meant by asking this question, so he

couldn't possibly speak the truth. He couldn't express his true thoughts

either. Because he had no intention of participating in this international

trade cooperation; the risks were too great. It wasn't the risks of this

project, but rather his lack of understanding of Mr. Tillery. He had

already gathered some information about Mr. Tillery through his own

channels, so he wouldn't agree to cooperate on this project for the time

being.

His main purpose for coming this time was to wrap up the previous

project and also the building project in Mr. Tillery's hands. It was a

famous local landmark that had been around for a long time and was

well-known worldwide, in need of restoration. He wanted to be involved

in this project, but Mr. Tillery never mentioned it, so he didn't know what

Mr. Tillery was thinking.

Of course, Ayan couldn't proactively bring up the matter of this project

because once he did, Mr. Tillery would undoubtedly think that he was

very eager for it and would use it to manipulate him. The two engaged

in a psychological battle. Ayan was a calm and patient person, so he

couldn't possibly lose this psychological battle.

Mr. Tillery was not satisfied with Ayan's response, as he knew that Ayan

had definitely not told the truth. But with so many people present, he

couldn't show any displeasure. He simply said, "So Mr. Simpson means

that as long as there is enough loyalty and understanding, it would be

enough?"

Ayan raised his head slightly and replied in a warm tone, "That's the

condition I can think of for now. So I hope Mr. Tillery can provide some

additional information.”

Ayan completely relinquished his initiative. He didn't want to have any

control over this matter. Could Mr. Tillery not see through his delay?

Mr. Tillery just smiled, and no one could tell how he truly felt. He didn't

continue to say anything else and turned the conversation to other

matters after glancing at Ayan.

After chatting for about half an hour, they finally made their way to the

dining table. They were having the local specialties, which leaned more

towards Western cuisine, but Ayan didn't particularly enjoy it and only

picked at the food.

Hannibal sat next to Ayan and noticed his actions, as well as his

distracted state tonight. Hannibal took advantage of Mr. Tillery's

conversation with others and asked Ayan softly, "What's wrong, Mr.

Simpson? Does the food not suit your taste? Are you not used to it?"

"It's fine," Ayan responded calmly. Since Hannibal was Horace's friend,

his attitude was slightly more relaxed. Ayan looked at Hannibal and

asked, "Have you tried Chinese food before?"

Hannibal nodded, "Of course, Horace is very good at making Chinese

dishes, they taste amazing."

"Oh, really? He never mentioned it. How about we go to his place

tomorrow and try it?"

“That would be great because he's currently in a new relationship, and I

didn't want to bother him by asking him to cook for me. But if Mr.

Simpson initiates the request, I'm sure he would gladly agree."

Hannibal had completely lost his appetite for this Western meal.

Although it was considered high-end in the Western cuisine scene, he

was tired of it and now craved a delicious Chinese meal.

Perhaps because Hannibal, someone who could still be considered a

friend, was present, Ayan didn't feel the passage of time as agonizingly.

The people at this table, except for him and Hannibal, all love to drink.

They mix red wine and spirits, and everyone has a strong tolerance for

alcohol.

Naturally, this meal took a long time to finish, continuing until late at

night. When they left the hotel, their respective drivers and secretaries

were already waiting outside. After bidding farewell, everyone got into

their cars and prepared to leave.

At that moment, Mr. Tillery called his secretary to stop Ayan. Mr.

Tillery's secretary said to Ayan, "Mr. Simpson, Mr. Tillery would like to

speak with you."

Ayan was already sitting in the car and not particularly interested. He

replied with a cold tone, "It's very late. Let's discuss it tomorrow.”

His response wasn't in a good mood, and Mr. Tillery's secretary was

taken aback for a moment. Then he whispered, "Would you like to have

a phone conversation with Mr. Tillery?"

The secretary didn't want to offend Ayan, especially since he had

witnessed Ayan directly reject the idea of marrying Mr. Tillery's

daughter. He held Mr. Tillery in high regard!

Ayan didn't want to waste any more time, so he didn't refuse the

suggestion from Mr. Tillery's secretary.

The secretary immediately dialed the driver's number on his phone and

put it on speakerphone for Mr. Tillery. He spoke softly to Mr. Tillery,

suggesting they have a conversation over the phone. Mr. Tillery neither

agreed nor disagreed, so that was how it went.

However, Mr. Tillery remained silent throughout, and the atmosphere

was somewhat quiet.

Ayan squinted his eyes and calmly asked, "What does Mr. Tillery want

to discuss?"

His tone was exceptionally cold, lacking any warmth.

Perhaps due to alcohol, Mr. Tillery's tone was rather direct as he asked,

"What does Mr. Simpson mean? After ending this collaboration, do you

have no intention of continuing?"

"Mr. Tillery has had too much to drink." Ayan's tone remained calm,

without any emotion.

Mr. Tillery continued, "Does Mr. Simpson think that Simpson Group has

firmly established itself here and no longer needs Tillery Group?”

"Why would 1? I'm grateful that Mr. Tillery gave Simpson Group an

opportunity for this project. After working together on this project, I

believe Mr. Tillery has a certain understanding of me. I'm fully

committed and serious about cooperation and projects. Even in my

home country, I take care of all matters related to projects. So, I don't

understand why Mr. Tillery would think that I'm using Tillery Group.”

Ayan's attitude was very friendly, and his words left Mr. Tillery unable to

find any issues.

However, Ayan's words were too distant, which was not what Mr. Tillery

desired. Mr. Tillery hoped that Ayan would have a heart-to-heart

conversation with him and that Ayan would rely on him. After all, this

was not their home country, not Ayan's territory. Only then would Mr.

Tillery feel invincible and believe that no one could threaten him.

But Ayan remained indifferent and even cold throughout, leading Mr.

Tillery to involuntarily believe that Ayan looked down on him and that

everything he showed was just a facade.

Once this idea entered Mr. Tillery's mind, it only grew stronger.

For example, just now, he asked his secretary to call Ayan over, partly

to demonstrate his status and position. However, Ayan didn't come over

but instead dealt with him over the phone.

Mr. Tillery was quite unhappy. Even though he couldn't find any faults in

Ayan's words, he still expressed his displeasure, saying, "Mr.

Simpson's current attitude makes me feel like you no longer want to

cooperate with Tillery Group. If that's the case, then I won't force

anything. We'll do everything according to Mr. Simpson's wishes. Tillery

Group is here, and there are many people who want to cooperate with

Tillery Group. I believe Mr. Simpson is aware of that.”
