Chapter 1302: Provocation
Camille pursed her lips, vaguely guessing that Ayan had hinted at this
before, although not directly. She had already prepared herself mentally
for this matter, so she didn't find the scene of the two of them playfully
arguing in the video to be too unusual or emotional.
Perhaps it was because she had long given up any hope or
expectations of her parents that she remained so calm?
But will Grace, who is abroad, see this video?
She must be quite surprised and unable to accept it, right?
Camille's reaction was calm, and Sienna asked, "Did you already
know?"
âI wouldn't say I knew early on because they didn't admit it, but I had
been mentally prepared for a long time. He retaliated well. The age of
the child outside is still unclear. Honestly, except for his business trips
during the day, he is always either at the company or at home. It's hard
to imagine that he has a woman and a child outside. Wouldn't they feel
it's difficult to accept that he can't be with them?" Camille couldn't really
understand this question. Or is it that Brody manages his time well,
which allows him to handle the woman outside and the Armstrong
family so smoothly?
Camille shook her head, unwilling to dwell on this matter any further.
Perhaps it was because she didn't agree to Page's request yesterday
that it became the catalyst for the complete rupture between them?
Camille hadn't figured out this matter yet when Yessica knocked on the
door and entered. Yessica seemed hesitant and troubled. Camille
asked, "What's wrong?"
Yessica whispered, "Cami, your father is here."
Camille frowned, instinctively glanced at Sienna beside her. The video
was still playing on her phone screen. Has the protagonist of the video
arrived?
Sienna casually remarked, "He's probably here to resolve the online
matter with you?"
After all, the incident had gained considerable attention. If it was truly
revealed that it was Brody, the Armstrong family would likely face a lot
of gossip, and Camille and Ayan would probably not escape scrutiny
either.
Camille asked, "Where is he now?"
"I've invited him to the conference room. We can't let him wait outside,"
Yessica knew about Camille's relationship with the Armstrong family
and her somewhat cold attitude towards Brody Page, but she wouldn't
abandon basic politeness and respect. After all, he was still Camille's
parent.
Both Yessica and Sienna were on Camille's side, so they didn't show
any intimacy towards those who treated Camille poorly.
Sienna said to Camille, "You should go and see what it's about. If you
need us for anything, send a message or we can turn on the
conference room's camera.â
"Up to you," Camille shrugged. She didn't intend to hide this matter
from Sienna and Yessica since they were all on the same side. If they
wanted to see, they could.
Camille picked up her phone and walked out of the office. When she
arrived at the conference room, Brody was already sitting in a chair,
sipping tea.
Seeing her enter, Brody's expression was far from friendly. He snorted
and said, "Such a small company with so many rules. Do I have to
make an appointment to even meet you, my own daughter?"
Camille and Brody had never been close because they had spent very
little time together. Since she was brought back to the Armstrong family,
they only had fleeting encounters during meals. As for other times, she
couldn't see him at all, considering how busy Brody was back then.
After they got married, she saw him even less, but every time he used
a commanding tone as if he were an elder, making various demands of
her.
Compared to Page's constant insults and irrationality, Brody's attitude
wasn't much better. Camille glanced at him, still not fully recovered
from what had happened, looking much older than before. Camille
walked to the seat opposite Brody and asked, "What can I do for you?"
Getting straight to the point, Camille had no desire to waste any words.
Seeing Camille's coldness and distance, a hint of displeasure flashed in
Brody's eyes, and his voice matched the chill in the air. "You just sit
down without being asked by your elders. Is this how you behave in the
Simpson family? How do you think the Armstrong family will be
perceived by the Simpson family? Do you realize that your actions are
bringing shame upon the Armstrong family?"
"Compared to shame, I believe it's more shameful to cheat on your wife
and family, have a child with someone else, and keep it a secret. Don't
you think?" Camille's expression remained cold, her voice devoid of
any warmth as she looked directly at Brody, each word hitting him like a
slap in the face.
In the office, Sienna and Yessica applauded and cheered loudly, finding
Camille's response satisfying.
Faced with Camille's sharp questioning, Brody's face turned extremely
ugly. He slammed the table heavily and shouted, "How dare you! Do
you even know what you're talking about? When did it become your
turn to manage me?"
"I certainly won't manage you. I don't have the time or the inclination.
But this is an undeniable fact, one that will inevitably be exposed
sooner or later. Even if I don't say it, someone else will. You can choose
to listen or not. Since you've done it, why should you be afraid of what
others say? Besides, isn't this something you've always wanted to
make public but never found the right opportunity for?" Camille
remained icy as she looked at Brody. If he hadn't approached her with
this attitude, she wouldn't have responded in this manner. Blame him
for provoking her.
Brody's murky gaze stared fixedly at Camille, as if he wanted to tear
her apart. But Camille showed no fear. On the contrary, she sat up
straight, gradually shifting her weight onto the backrest of the chair. She
locked eyes with Brody and asked, "So, what is your purpose in coming
here to find me?"
Brody remained silent for several seconds because Camille's previous
words had deeply displeased him. Even if what Camille said was true,
so what? He believed he was Camille's father, and therefore, a
daughter shouldn't accuse or blame her father for anything, even if he
was wrong.
Even if he was wrong, a daughter had no right to say it.
That was Brody's nature.
But now Brody had something he needed to discuss with Camille, so
he couldn't afford to antagonize her too much. He looked at Camille
and said, "Your mother came to see you yesterday, asking you to
resolve the matter with Armstrong Corp. Why didn't you agree?"
Camille was taken aback for a moment and calmly replied, "Handling
Armstrong Corp's affairs has always been your responsibility. I
shouldn't interfere to avoid being labeled as having ulterior motives. I
truly can't afford that."
Camille's face remained cold, devoid of any extra expression or
emotion. Her gaze locked with Brody's, and both of them wore
unpleasant expressions. Brody, however, continued to restrain himself.
He said, "Don't overthink it. No one feels that way except you. It's just
your own imagination. Although you didn't listen to advice and insisted
on selling your shares to Horace, you have to understand that you are
still part of the Armstrong family. Only when the Armstrong family is
doing well will you be better off."
Brody had started using PUA tactics again, just like him and Page were
both skilled at it.
